    i dont think Brewers were "ecstatic" about the Suppan deal. In fact, I think I started tuning them out for awhile after that one. Just felt like it was chasing mediocrity.

    Hardin isnt on the 40. After Uribe/Romero, you have Crow/Sproat, unless they make some room elsewhere

    it was the sequence of plays, not the one. jogging to first a few days ago. pulling the bunt back on a middle-middle pitch. failing to get out of the box on a flare

    Others have made some of these points but from what ive seen rookies are broken in by being held to a somewhat higher standard and they havent earned any plays off. Pratt has made some questionable efforts on offense lately. the terrible non-bunt earlier, the jog a couple games ago that almost led to an out. Most Brewers are sprinting down the line and doing the little things right. There seems to be a different rulebook for the catchers (and maybe yelich) due to the wear and tear and health issues they deal with.

    vastly underrated for anyone who survived the Selig years. The org is run very tight from top to bottom. Dodgers-quality org on a T-Rats budget.

    They dont mind a short term solution if they feel there is a real gap or their guy isnt ready. They had nobody knocking at first base, when they got Hoskins, Vaughn, etc. Its different now with so many options in the upper levels and not wanting to block them. They just want to upgrade pitching wherever possible now. They will likely nip at the edges again for stopgaps like with Rengifro. But the only splash amongst position players is trying to deal from prospect depth to a team that needs multiple guys in exchange for a bigger young piece with a lot of service time left. But that seems more of a longshot to find those kinds of deals like back in the Yelich days.

    With reasonably 4 CF already in the majors and needing to stash Adamczewski and Payne soon in the OF, I cant imagine Made in the OF. For 3B/1B, they arent going to add anyone relevant to block Made, Pena, Adams, Burke, Ebel, Fischer and Bitonti If they resign Bauers and decide to deal Vaughn, it would more likely be pitching or catcher

    yeah im watching sproat also. after falling apart his first outing, he has really turned it on in AAA. With a young guy like, sometimes its just getting your confidence headed in the right direction. maybe some time to work on a couple things also.

    I’ve been down on frelick and excited about Lara but there is no rush to move Frelick. I’d certainly rather have him or Lara as our 4th over Lockridge or Perkins. A luxury, sure. but also, it makes sense that he was just injured and can still regain value. Spend some time in a platoon across the OF playing matchups and hot bats, then in a year or so, deal for pitching or catching from a stronger position. .. but we also need to work Adamczewski and Payne in soon enough. So yeah, not likely a long term fit

    Brewers management is not likely willing to block Burke, Fischer and Adams by giving someone $50 million for the next 2 seasons

    A salary cap would reduce the incentive for this kind of scam because a massive self funded TV deal would just get split out to other teams, not go to payroll. MLB has quite a mess on its hands. They're going to have to figure out what to do with this all star roster built on a mound of monopoly money as fans realze it was all a big sham while their teams struggle to compete in a rigged system. I feel the dodgers need to be broken up somehow to save face

    but why cant brewers management just be more like the dodgers and "go for it"? its so simple

    Might not be the worst thing to follow the dodgers and have a longer IL stint. Keep Kyle fresh for postseason and be OK with a lower seed

    Lockridge doesnt fill any gaps not well covered by Frelick/Lara/Bauers. There is no reason to see the field right now and so kind of obvoius he should be down. But just in terms of getting Lara ABs the next 2 weeks, maybe. But Lara provides something defensively right now over Bauers and Frelick (depending on shoulder). I expect Lockridge to get sent and see if he can get his numbers up.

    i have to say the aggressive moves by the Pirates at the deadline were a head scratcher to me. Like, what are they playing for even? Why are they not continuing to build when they arent in line for anything meaningful

    i really enjoy the year Jake is having and the need for his pop in this lineup, and really it goes back to late last season. Rolling the dice on the QO could be worth it just for the possibility of draft picks. Still, i would be surprised if the brewers spend on him. The Brewers treasure defense and minimizing pitches, and I dont think he looks comfortable anywhere. 1B/3B - Brewers already have Vaughn at 1B and he's been able to carry them also. Ortiz/Hamilton nd Adams/Burke/Williams/Fischer/Made are already competing for 1B/3B next year and there is some real pop in there OF - Chourio/Mitchell are set and Lara/Frelick competing for 3/4 with Adamczewski/Payne possibly in the mix So, Brewers lose a little on defense and get an established bat with Bauers but at a cost of blocking others. I doubt that will be worth $20M+ to the team in how they view it.

    Said it at the time of the proposal that it made no sense to deal Henderson in a skubal deal. Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don’t make. Although skubal was the deadline prize, coming off injury and with Hendersons numbers, it’s not a guarantee he would be better than what we already had. the whole point of a skubal deal was to get 4 great starters for playoffs but losing Henderson makes it pointless. And then we lose a strong young starter for many years and a stud like Pena and probably Adamczewski. Like 10+ years of projectable starting talent for a half season of a potential “upgrade”. The May deal is looking really smart so far. Deceptive numbers that are playing better in Milwaukee and now we have 4 solid starters and arguably the best playoff rotation in baseball without overselling the farm
