    maybe they WERE thinking 2-5 years but this year's team kind of screwed that up. There isnt really a marquee team at the top and we are as good as anyone. you also cant say for sure we will have a top of the rotation group as solid and healthy as we have this year.

    cant see a 1B-only at this point. That would give us 3 on the roster. You would expect Vaughn to come back down to earth, but probably not any worse than O Hearn has been the last 2 months.

    If score holds, brewers have nearly caught the cubs for best run differential in the league. That seemed impossible a month ago.

    Just thinking g how different this team is if Civale doesn't demand a trade. Miz solidified the pitching rotation and the offense

    it really just depends how the organization views Henderson. If they think he has a good shot at being a #3, then that seems too pricey to give up for a rental. If they see him as a 4/5, also having a lot of other arms in the same mix and a staff that can identify and maximize pitchers, then he's expendable, especially with a low-90s fastball whose trade value is possibly peak.

    In past years, organizational depth was mediocre and the team was marginally in line for playoffs but not a recognized contender vs some of the great teams around the league. Why sacrifice the future to have a slightly better underdog odds for one kick at the can? They have built up their trading chips and now are in the hunt as a WS contender. So they could very well cash some in and go for it as we've seen from MA over the years, or they could continue to stockpile if they think they will be in an even better position down the road. Having the best record this late, it seems this year feels different and they could go for it, but the price would need to be right.

    Yeah I just can't see dealing away any prospects for pitching when we are still trying to figure out where to put our overflow of quality starters

    If it's Suarez, would the brewers make a minimal QO that would get rejected and get more out of it long term? I would think there is likely more value than 3 months

    yeah, just too risky for a WC contender to not at least try adding stability in the infield and bench. And you cant stockpile prospects forever.

    How many players have been put under more pressure than miz in their first few games of baseball? - mlb debut - skenes matchup - Kershaw matchup - all star controversy - maintain streak + burgers

    With recent offensive improvements and stellar defense coming from Ortiz, I'm starting to come around that he might be enough. Should be able to upgrade Durbin. But ether way, they are banking on a number of "maybe good enough" for the playoffs, and that's before we get to the very weak bench. Brewers could upgrade 3B or SS and minimally end up with a platoon, rotation or just great bench depth. I'm of the belief they have more than enough farm pieces to flip that won't significantly impact the future

    Certainly chemistry on a team that seems to be playing well above expectations is one concern The other: brewers are in rare territory for the org this late in the season. Even if they have more talent on a future team, there is no guarantee that will translate vs future injuries and competition (see dodgers). I just think they will regret keeping an overloaded farm system on an org poised for a deep playoff run, while competitors make their moves. We are seeing the impact a bat like Vaughn has been swinging on this lineup.

    At this point I think we have to buy. - hottest team in baseball but need to pace moves coming from others - Great controllable pitching depth but losing top of rotation soon (predictibility of a healthy 2025 vs future success) - move will have immediate impact on lineup that lacks power and depth - if any team can afford to sacrifice some pitching & prospects, it's the brewers right now - payroll that's played it safe in recent years waiting for opportunity

    I have a hard time believing with all the talented SPs in the org and all of the top 100ish talent, the Brewers cant put together a package for more than just a rental bat. A Yelich-type trade.
