  1. Can't say this was on my radar. Let's hope for another Wade Miley / Jordan Lyles comeback story. Starting to wonder if they are close to giving up on Lauer. He was bad last year, bad this spring, and hasn't done enough in the last month to get the call for a spot start over a guy not on the roster.
  2. CC throwing a loop on Weigel not being the likely starter tomorrow, or we going to see Lauer (ugh) or Bettinger (intrigue)?
  3. Perhaps they calm him down with some of the now MLB-permissible "substance of abuse" he was twice suspended for in the minors.
  4. Thames without the beard is not working for me.
  5. Things that will be said next week in Nashville:
  6. Should have just signed Braun if we needed someone to torch left-handed pitching and play badly in left [sarcasm]and maybe a little third[/sarcasm] for two days before he got hurt.
  7. Though I'm fairly certain it's not the answer this time, any trivia with "Brewer" and "injured list" will always get me to respond with Ben Sheets.
  8. Shouldn't be a long-term injury, but comes at a time with no off day until May 10 so there there will be a need for 2-3 starts. 40-man options include Suter, Lindblom (IL), Lauer, Weigel, and Bettinger. The later two may have the most upside, but both were limited in the spring and may not be stretched out. I'll predict Suter, with Lauer getting called into the pen.
  9. Had a nice spring: 1 run in 5.1 innings with 7Ks and no BB.
  10. LHP Brett Anderson has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained right hamstring. RHP Phil Bickford has been recalled from the Alternate Training Site. Hopefully Bickford can build on his strong spring.
  11. For those wondering, Daniel Robertson has two career pitching appearances (and no runs allowed). Only a couple weeks out from MiLB season to really fuel the "CALL UP ETHAN SMALL NAOW!!!" posts.
  12. Nottingham would be a fine backup catcher for a lot of teams. Heck, he could play for 10 more years. Here and now, he's neither a better short-term option than Pina nor a better long-term investment than Feliciano.
