  1. Well, weren't really any position players to recall so I suppose it makes sense. Though not sure why they wouldn't try Bickford, Weigel, or Sobotka unless Yardley quickly figured out his location issues.
  2. I think injuries are to be expected (Wahl, Topa, File was probably projected up at some point and now looks like 2022). The bullpen struggles are due to the greater than expected regression with the best RP last year struggling to keep a roster spot and the second best RP already having lost his spot. I think Stearns realized it after the fact with the return for Arcia. Bickford also had a great spring and could be worth a look. Got to believe the second half bullpen plan has one or two of Ashby, Small, or Bettinger making it up.
  3. Reviewed and overturned. Absurd call by the ump as he was safe and it wasn't at all close.
  4. Rock: You want to be patient. Brubaker can struggle to throw the breaking ball for strikes. Andy Haines scouting report: Swing early and often!
  5. I'm even more surprised he was able to keep the other two who committed to Wojo. Roster will be young and inexperienced so can't expect much next year, but plenty of talent to develop. Also fairly small and guard-heavy, which has been good to MU and Shaka historically. Looks like he also just landed a highly regarded assistant from Maryland, in addition to his Texas group. Love that many of the kids seem very excited to play for him. Also more charisma in Shaka's big toe than all of Wojo - looking forward to the season!
  6. Yep, Contreras' comment caused this. Tepera's suspension should get reduced on appeal. Put into a crummy spot by Contreras - cries about getting hit when he's so on top of the plate he barely checked the swing, calls the throw at Woodruff instead of a position player, admits to the throw when shutting up about it avoids the punishment.
  7. Double hook rule is fantastic. I disagree that it will lead to pitchers staying in games longer, and hope they don't abandon it if that's the intention and doesn't materialize. The use of benches is the big thing. AL teams use 0-2 pinch hitters per game, where NL teams are often down to their backup catcher by the end. Perfect way to get the DH into the NL permanently, and even manage to save the double switch.
  8. I'm good with taking him out now. It's a long season. Hopefully Perdomo is on the lineup card.
  9. A number that lets us finish with a combination of Perdomo, Williams, and Lindblom would be ideal.
  10. I've been worried since the first series, when he whiffed at 90 and 88 mph fastballs right down the middle, which was the curious problem last year with completely missing balls in the strike zone. Then he chased an 0-2 breaking ball two feet outside on the next pitch.
  11. The second term for the Mayor is faring better than how his first term ended.
  12. Unfortunate for Rasmussen if he gets sent to Appleton for a fresh arm and because he struggled again all due to the lineup card thing.
  13. After the third, I didn't expect Anderson to get through five and keep the big lead. Turns into a nice start.
