  1. On that note, even Yelich and Hiura could have made a trips to the phantom IL with strained left middle toes to take 10 days to reset. It's no biggie in a 162 game season, but not feasible in 60. A 2021 fix via new talent is an uphill battle, unless it involves paying for players with an uncertain but greater chance of being productive. Unless something changed in Appleton that they kept under wraps, not having any legitimate prospects scheduled to arrive until perhaps 2022 is the largest barrier. Maybe a bat can be had for Hader, though my preference is for higher upside prospects over major league talent another contending team is conveniently willling to part with.
  2. There's a chance he's going to get hot and hit .340 for half a season again, and at least an equal chance of hitting .160. I don't think that's a $4.5M bet to place.
  3. Well, we made it as far as the Cardinals and Cubs. The Padres are our 2019 pitching staff with our 2008 lineup plus bat-flipping on the Cardinals. Their fans must be having some fun.
  4. He has a great arm. Awkward shuffle to the base and rushed the throw. Gyorko still should have picked it.
  5. I'm especially a fan of bat flips against the Cardinals. Perhaps Molina and Shildt will go visit the Padres dugout to let them know that it hurts their feelings.
  6. I've had no qualms about this zone. Called well, tight, consistent. I think there's one pitch he actually gave Suter low that was particularly bad and that's about it.
  7. Nice rip Arcia! Mistake with the ball down. Perez is correct that he seems to have a focus in critical games that you wish he could capture more often.
  8. Is Narvaez going to get the Schoop treatment where they just decide he doesn't fit here? I fully expect the Marlins to add another former Brewer and he'll put up a solid .850 OPS there.
  9. If you told me Suter would face 13 batters I'd have thought much better than 1.2 IP. Only good thing is no false hope so I can keep my EDT bedtime.
  10. Nice of Turner to be a good sport, but I strongly dislike talking to a guy playing the infield in the middle of a game. Talk to someone not in the lineup or someone in the bullpen.
  11. That's a different lineup. Can't produce worse results than what the offense has been putting up. Just got me thinking to tomorrow...we're declining the DH for a Woodruff vs. Kershaw playoff matchup, right?
  12. I was only kidding about 2019 AAA batting champion David Freitas being our ringer.
  13. Ah, so Clevinger and Lamet are both out. The Padres' pitching situation mirrors ours, except they started their Houser in game one with Paddack.
  14. It'll be amusing if the Central completely flops out and we can laugh about getting in and making it just as far as any of 'em. Though given how it usually is, it'll be the Cardinals making it farther than anyone since that's the worst outcome.
  15. In the "winning" plan, the piggyback for innings 4-5 is the weak spot. Peralta probably has the best track record. Houser could be good going off his history out of the pen - but do you buy 2018-19 out of the pen, or 2020 as a pitcher? I think Claudio or Yardley in the 6th depending on the spot in the order, Williams 7th-8th, Hader 9th.
  16. Our lineup is so bad and optimism so low that Gamel, Pina, Mathias, and McKinney are our ringers. Next up, 2019 AAA batting champion David Freitas.
  17. Do they douse each other with hand sanitizer to celebrate or hold a batting practice?
  18. I'm sure they'll put a "2020 NL Wild Card" sign in the outfield at Insurance Company Field to commemorate the worst team to ever make the postseason.
  19. Since we can't even hit Goober, much less score more than 3 runs.. 2-1 Dads 3-0 Rays
