  1. Good day for Rasmussen to get work. Assuming CC pulls Anderson before the total blow up and avoids putting him in a 7-5 game.
  2. We would also need to check with the Cardinals as to whether that would break an unwritten rule, and if so what inning and how big a lead would make it appropriate.
  3. The team that had been putting every starter on no hit alert chasing the starter after 1.1. Go figure.
  4. Yes, owe him another $3M for 2022. [sarcasm]Had to outbid the Doosan Bears to entice him to leave the KBO[/sarcasm]
  5. I'll take back any questioning of the Houser/Lindblom decision. At least Garcia had a good game and Narvaez having a good year to show some redemption to that Stearns Offseason of Horrors.
  6. Hiura whiffs at 90 and 88 right down the pipe, then chases on 0-2 as if he was going to get something hittable. Might be time to join Camp Appleton and see if Sara can help him mimic whatever made Garrett the best player in spring.
  7. No hit watch over. With Haines, we should have another one to look forward to by Tuesday.
  8. Yep. They only have basketball, so all of their resources go to basketball. I read something a while back, maybe when they hired Wojo, that in terms of resources dedicated to the program plus playing in a NBA arena made Marquette a top-10 program in terms of total resources dedicated to basketball. Yep, whenever USA Today or other outlets compile lists of the top spending programs, they always make it. There's a lot of murkiness due to non-standard accounting between schools and further lack of transparency given they're private, but no doubt they spent a lot. Conversely, I've also seen a list or two that follow up on that with the "worst ROI" programs in terms of success for what they spend, and they're high on that list. Jeff Goodman was explaining that last week re: Wojo, and how the performance given what they invest was even more egregious.
  9. It would be typical Sogard to win the job, hit .320 in the first half, make the ASG, then manage a cool .140 in the second half so the Cubs give up on him.
  10. The CBS guys were making this point as well - Shaka's trademark at VCU was the "Havoc" full court pressure defense. At Texas, he found himself landing 5 star big men. Not a fit for this style, so he had to change the style. Would be nice if he could keep Carton, Lewis, and Garcia. Seem to be good fits for his preferred system. But I won't hold it against him if he can't keep Wojo's team together, and the pure free agent transfer market this year might give him a chance to re-build quickly. Looks like he got a 4-star kid from Brookfield to commit to Texas; may be a good start to get him to stay home.
  11. I like the inclusion of Peralta over Lindblom. I don't care for the inclusion of Houser over Lindblom.
  12. At 37:00, some insight from Jeff Goodman, who is well connected. tl;dl: -Two NCAA appearances and no wins in seven years is unacceptable given the resources there -Wojo was told he needed to change staff, bring in veteran coach and refused Candidates: -Porter Moser supposedly wants the job -Shaka Smart not thrilled his buyout was only reason he wasn't ousted last year, loses a lot next year. A lot of discussion on how sources reported him hired last time -John Beilein in mix but administration may not be comfortable with him -Pat Kelsey has midwest ties, makes a lot of sense
  13. Yep agreed... He needs more time in AAA, it looks like. I still can't fathom how he started 52 games in 2018-2019 and had a mid-4 ERA. Watching him pitch last year was the opposite of entertainment.
  14. This didn't age well. Only a few weeks later, I had complete apathy toward the team again. Wojo really needs to go. No success and largely uninteresting play style. But between the administration's indifferencce and the budget issues I'd be surprised if they buy him out, much less hire a worthy successor.
  15. If we had two of the top five prospects in baseball, I'd be pretty pissed if our President decided to knock the English of a 20 year old Dominican, and freely admit that he's keeping the other down to save money while dropping details of his contract negotiations. Made worse that Seattle's been the pits of baseball for a generation.
  16. Massive endorsement bitcoins have to be coming his way as well. Possibly the most exciting young player I've seen since Griffey.
  17. I'd love to be a Padres fan about now. May they never force him to apologize for jacking a grand slam ever again.
  18. He makes the team if he has anything more than the 2019 Shaw who seemed to have forgotten how to hit a baseball. One of those who fell of the cliff when Haines came to town.
