  1. Latest mapping/projections: https://ballparkdigest.com/200905261902/minor-league-baseball/news/affiliate-dance-2012 Would be awesome to win a fight to get back to Nashville, or at a minimum get Vegas while pushing the A's to Fresno. If we can't win again, it at least appears that something has to change by 2020 with all the expiring contracts. Would be great if we could find another opportunity like Carolina where Mark A opens the wallet to put an end to the drama in perpetuity. I remember a note that they "may not be done" with that strategy at the time of the sale, where Biloxi seemed to be the most likely of our current affiliates to buy into. Seems AAA just has a lot of natural geographic fits which complicate things.
  2. Maybe instead of cash they could agree to not screw us into another awful AAA affiliate.
  3. Guerra, hopefully he is still there and sleeps in tomorrow...and misses the game. Are we REALLY going to pitch Junior again, in the thick of a playoff chase? What would the Cardinals do? They'd pitch Guerra as well. And he'd give up one run in 8 innings for them because they're the Cardinals.
  4. Completely agree. It'll really hit once we start seeing teams throw out 5 pitchers over two innings and burn two pinch runners apiece. With Knebel, Williams, and Peralta we hit 36, and if we felt like it, Houser and Wilkerson would make 38. Could even see sticking with 25 (or 26 in the future, if an extra spot eventually happens). That's still about 6 more players than most teams have readily available on a given day during the meat of the season, with flexibility to make changes every day.
  5. Worth a shot. Change of scenery, competing for the postseason, and Derek Johnson all in favor of turning things around. Past few months have been quite ugly though. I'd rather try Gio than see how much gas Peralta has left in the tank or hope Davies returns to form.
  6. I'm of a mind to leave Soria out there. I'd use Brooks before Albers. I'd probably use Kratz before Albers.
  7. Brooks is an interesting choice. Pitched well this year, but not sure why now with the 40-man shuffle over just recalling Wilkerson.
  8. Also had to give that same amount to Boone Logan, because left-handed.
  9. Thoughts from McCalvy here: https://www.mlb.com/brewers/news/inbox-who-are-the-brewers-september-callups/c-292189998?tid=218325368 In short: -Expect many of the 40 man guys who have already been up, but not all. -Third catcher is usually a given, but Nottingham has been out the past month. Depending on his timetable, not out of the question that Bandy or Bethancourt gets added to the 40-man and called up. -For other 40-man adds, Torres-Costa is the most likely: needs to be added for Rule 5 protection anyway, and another LHP reliever makes sense. -Actually thinks it's likely there will be a "surprise", like Taylor Williams last year. (queue Sogard guesses )
  10. Roster spot should be easy. Just dump Lyles. But indeed, there is no reason to give Cincinnati anything. Saving the salary is already a good deal for them.
  11. Think a move has to be made since he's maxed out the rehab without being shut down? Send him down, call him up when rosters expand to avoid burning the option. Or he can take Lyles spot and be long relief. Not convinced we should force in a 6th starter in what should be a 4 1/2 man rotation the rest of the way.
  12. Trying to follow all the previous trades that all ended up with the Brewers gave me a headache.
  13. Knebel ERA up to 4.79. That's as sorry as the Rockies putting Wade Davis out there to close games.
  14. If we have to have a dedicated closer, it should be Jeffress. And if there has to be a "second closer because Jeffress pitched too much", then make that Soria. That's just all there is to it.
  15. Can he? Evidence today seems to indicate otherwise.
  16. OMG the pitcher got a hit! Oh wait, that was Schoop.
  17. "Left hamstring" If it passes, sure. I mean, why eat next year's cost now when you can at least evaluate in spring training?
  18. Just saw Baseball Reference's Tweet. April: Milwaukee May: Cleveland June-July: Anaheim / AAA-Salt Lake Late July: Toronto August: Minnesota I think I might work a bit on my left-handed tossing, see if I can float around and make the minimum for a year or two.
  19. Low on that fastball too, but 97 will give some leeway. Let's win it now!
