  1. Was surprised they brought him back after that appearance. Freddy was rushed back from rehab as well, but he was effective, he wasn't struggling before getting injured, and he's just a better pitcher.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/news/walker-buehler-second-tommy-john-surgery Just in case you noticed the Dodgers rotation not at full strength ...it would be because Dustin May returned from the TJ on Saturday to make his first appearance since he was injured in Milwaukee last year and was dominant.
  3. Eventful, but the box score will show five scoreless.
  4. 8/23 Milwaukee Brewers recalled 3B Pablo Reyes from Nashville Sounds.
  5. My bet's on something like this. I mean, we already have the Attanasio hype of doing "something special" when Counsell hit the wins record and it was the same; just selling cheap tickets and the announcers practically turning the broadcast into an infomercial to peddle them.
  6. Exposing another of the season's disappointments: the plan early in the season was for Small to be up and providing a jolt to the bullpen, if not making some spot starts. Yet it's late August and he's being passed up for a call-up in favor of Costanza, and you can't really make a convincing case that it's not the right call.
  7. The actual "question" will be: "Craig, what about Keston Hiura?" Tomorrow's recap of his response will be: I asked Craig Counsell about Keston Hiura's production after the game yesterday and he said Keston has worked really hard, he said he's giving them some much-needed production, he said he will continue to put the best lineup out there every day, he said with the way Keston is playing he said that will probably include Keston he said quite a bit going forward.
  8. Keston needs to stop ruining CC's birthday.
  9. Yes. And if the position jams mean McCutchen, Yelich, or Wong have to sit to get Hiura into the lineup, so be it.
  10. Looking forward to the offseason overhaul more than whether or not we squeak out the last wild card only to head to Busch to let the Cardinals formally eliminate us. Suppose it keeps the playoff streak going, if anyone places value in that.
  11. Seems tonight's DH was scheduled. At least I'm finding it advertised by Jacksonville over a week ago. No mention of why. Sunday is the makeup for Thursday's rainout.
  12. They should just start every Nashville game with Frelick on first base. Save a little time. Dude leads off every game with a base hit.
  13. In case it needs to be said, I am once again very, very glad that the Brewers acquired Yelich and not Ozuna when the Marlins had their fire sale.
  14. I may have said expecting any offense from Turang at the MLB level early on would be a mistake and he would be best suited for the Opening Day roster. But I'm still very good with logic be damned and bringing him up!
  15. He should be a non-tender in the offseason. Between Frelick, Ruiz, Mitchell, Turang able to play CF, possible LF appearances for Hiura, there will be no room on the roster for a .273 OBP.
  16. Our review team is very good. Seems other teams are always wasting time with pointless reviews. They neither waste time nor leave clear incorrect calls on the table.
  17. Non-tender, signed by the Brewers, back to normal. Fleeced.
  18. I don't see it as unreasonable to think that Frelick could come up and exceed the .274 OBP Taylor is giving, or provide a threat to reach second base that Davis doesn't bring. He has hit immediately (or close enough to it) at every level. The downside risk is minimal, given the output there is limited to Taylor running into one once every couple of weeks. Contrast with Turang, who has taken some time to get going at every level. Understandable, given he's been young for every level. They may be preparing him for a call-up (given the starts at 2B and 3B), but expecting offense is a mistake. He's best suited to be on the opening day roster next year with patience through any early struggles. Unless Peterson is lost for the season, I'd wait on Turang.
  19. What was the purpose of adding Reetz to the 40 earlier this month? He was immediately optioned then, and now DFA'd. Also, why free up a 40-man spot for someone who wasn't even good enough for one while on PEDs? Lastly, Cousins has been on rehab assignment in Nashville for three weeks. So waiting on a 40-man spot for him while Strzelecki and Kelly came up doesn't appear to be a theory that holds. I just don't understand any of this.
