  1. I don't see how anyone could think this unless you were expecting Rasmussen to become a top-of-the-rotation starter. Relievers are not that valuable. Honestly, a 2.0-3.0 WAR everyday SS is probably more valuable than Hader. Rasmussen was not even a consensus top-10 prospect in a terrible Brewers system. I think people are conflating his original upside as a former first-round draft pick who we managed to draft in the sixth round, with him being an actual top or former top prospect.
  2. Unless I missed it earlier, surprised there hasn't been more speculation that Urias is about to get flipped.
  3. We got Feyereisen off the scrap heap before 2020 and in 28.2 IP he has put up a 4.08 ERA, 5.32 FIP, 5.0 BB/9, and -0.1 fWAR Rasmussen is actually older than Adames and has only pitched 105 IP in his entire professional career, including 32.1 IP in the majors with a 5.01 ERA, 4.28 FIP, 5.9 BB/9, and 0.0 fWAR. He's sort of an interesting upside prospect, but Adames has already shown upside in the majors. I like both players a lot, particularly Feyereisen since he's from Wisconsin, but they strike me as easily replaced in terms of our 2021 bullpen.
  4. And my oh my what a HUGE bat they acquired too. I don't get this reaction. Can you not look up his career stats? He's an above average hitter at SS who averages about 20 HR per full season, and he is most likely replacing on the current roster... Pablo Reyes. It's not like we just blew all of trade capital and this is our big acquisition of the season. We traded two RP with mediocre peripherals who I did not realize were massive fan favorites until about 20 minutes ago.
  5. That was my first thought as well. Have you seen Willy Adames's career stats, and Orlando Arcia's career stats?
  6. I've never been more baffled than seeing that people are having a negative reaction to this trade. Adames is 25, has been roughly a 3.0 fWAR/season player over his career, and is under team control for several more years. We got him for two average relievers and Tampa Bay threw in a passable back-end SP with upside. Not even close in terms of value. Though I do wonder what the plan is now with both Adames and Urias.
  7. 2020-2021 FIP Leaders (>60.0 IP)
  8. You know things are bleak when we are earnestly wanting Orlando Arcia back to play 3B as way to help the offense (?!)
  9. Today's baseball player also would have hit .500/.750/.900/1.650 against 1982 pitching.
  10. Bringing Braun back to play 1B makes perfect sense, except for the fact that he would still want to get paid like a star. If he's willing to settle for a farewell season at a couple million or so though, we should go for it.
  11. Rickie Weeks ultimately peaked as the best 2B in baseball for a year or two. Granted it was a brief window, but I'd be happy with that outcome.
  12. Seems a bit hyperbolic considering we currently have Pablo Reyes on the roster as our utility guy.
  13. I was just about to comment on how Vogelbach's statline is now worse than Hiura's was, but with that double he is probably up to third or fourth on the team in OPS
  14. Not the gospel, but Garcia has been one of the unluckiest hitters in the league according to expected wOBA (xwOBA). He "should" have a very nice .374 wOBA based on how hard he has been hitting the ball: https://fantasy.fangraphs.com/hitter-xwoba-underperformers-may-3-2021/ Taylor will be back soon, no big deal getting sent down.
  15. If we could send JBJ to Nashville I'd be all for that. Hiura's secondary stats area abysmal. He's near the bottom or is the worst hitter in MLB at contact on pitches in the strike zone. He isn't juast unlucky he is bad. Needs to get his K% down. All fair, it just feels like people focus in on him in particular like he is Yuniesky Betancourt somehow sent back in time and playing on the 1927 Yankees. If/when Hiura gets sent down, the presumptive replacement as the everyday 1B was hitting .173/.259/.308/.567 coming into today's game.
  16. Is the dislike toward Hiura because he should be so much better, or is it ostensibly just based on his performance? Because he hasn't been that much worse than a number of others on the team. Especially if you take out the first week or two of the season. I agree that a minors stint is necessary for him to regain his confidence.
  17. The #1 highlight for all of major league baseball on MLB.com this morning after last night's incredible rollercoaster win for the Brewers was.... Betts hitting a normal HR in the first inning. Not saying you have to put a Brewers highlight first, but yes there is zero question that they go hard to tailor their coverage for the Dodgers bandwagon viewership.
  18. Separate from the team's success, can I give some praise for Luis Urias? He's finally been looking like the real deal as a potential above-average regular at SS. Hitting .333/.438/.641 over his last 15 games. It's a small hot streak, but stats aside he has just looked good in the field and at the plate.
  19. Are the old game threads archived somewhere? Got to read the one from last night (edit - of course they are, I should have checked the game thread subforum! )
  20. Strange: Nottingham apparently DFA'd right away again by the Mariners. I wonder if the Brewers are trying to work out a trade to get him back?
  21. Seems like having a better ERA against the undisputed best team in baseball over that time period is a huge mark in his favor, not an asterisk on his performance (like Gleyber Torres hitting 90% of his HR against Baltimore exclusively). He's been uncharacteristically good against the Dodgers, and probably uncharacteristically bad against some random team he's had a couple blow-ups against. Take out the outliers and he's the solid back-end low-4.00's ERA guy we should all expect him to be.
