  1. All reports seem to suggest that this is just a made up rumor.
  2. I thought there was a separate COVID list, i.e. not the "injured list"?
  3. Not sure what a "young starter with some upside" is if not a 25-year-old with decent numbers over 54 career starts. He was bad in two starts for us, in a bizarre season when he was probably thrown off balance by being asked to move between the bullpen and rotation on short notice. He's also going to be asked to make his belated season debut against the Dodgers of all teams. Whether he has a bad night or not really should not affect his role on the team going forward.
  4. The dislike for Lauer is really over the top. He's pitched a whopping total of 11.0 innings for the Brewers. Before 2020, which I hardly even count as a real season, he was a solid back-end starter in >50 starts. Decent projections. Left handed. Still just 25! He should be part of a permanent six-man rotation.
  5. Can't be too hard on Lindblom. I imagine it must be difficult to effectively be asked to come in and start a game with no advance notice. I hope he has a chance to prove himself back in the starting rotation now that Anderson is injured.
  6. If Hiura does not turn things around this season (I'm confident he will long-term), seems to me the obvious #1 target is Anthony Rizzo. If he's too pricey, maybe a cheaper 1B rental like Brandon Belt.
  7. I like McKinney but all the guy has really done is hit 2 HR. I think it's early to say he has emerged as a viable starter or that we should consider trading one of the four OF above him in the depth charts.
  8. I loved when they did it to start the 2018 season (with Yelich and Cain making their Brewers debuts), but this one might be even sweeter considering the quality of competition. Yes, this feel like a huge sweep, in large part because of how much MLB and the media just hyped the Dodgers v Padres "clash of the titans" series.
  9. Not sure about the "throw a fat pitch to Manny Machado" strategy
  10. Well Hader can't keep a 0.00 ERA all season. I feel like we're playing with house money though, since we've already won the series.
  11. Boxberger's role was to clog the basis so that Myers and Caratini would be too aggressive and strikeout swinging. All according to plan
  12. It does seem like a rebuild-confidence situation where a crack at AAA pitching would help.
  13. Innings limit not going to be an issue after the Brewers chase him with 6+ runs in the first two innings.
  14. I'd take our chances now with a depleted bullpen if it meant moving Lindbloom back into the rotation. We need a six-man rotation because our two aces simply cannot pitch a regular top-of-the-rotation full season workload if we want them to survive into the postseason and/or not be destroyed in the future due to overwork. Just look at the career innings totals for both Woodruff and Burnes.
  15. I don't see them optioning Hiura when the minors haven't even started yet. Maybe if we had other non-injured options at 2B who hadn't been equally bad to worse.
  16. I like the trade, because I didn't even understand why they tendered Arcia a contract this season, but I do feel bad for the players a bit. I imagine it sucks to get traded to a new organization less than a week into the season. (Though maybe he doesn't feel too bad given the Brewers performance so far )
  17. How has Hiura looked at 1B this spring? Haven't had a chance to watch much.
  18. This is a good question. The JBJ may have saved Vogelbach's chance, as we could not afford to carry him on the roster and to use Robertson as OF/UTIL, as we will need a fifth outfielder hardly ever.
  19. [sarcasm]I like Yelich's chance of making the roster.[/sarcasm]
  20. The only way to not love this deal is if you are living in the past and think that MLB rosters should be constructed to have 8 guys who will start 160 games for you. JBJ has 5+ WAR upside when he has a hot year offensively, and we basically have him on a 1/$13M contract barring a major injury. Will be a joy to watch him and Cain in the OF together at the same time. I kind of want to bring back Keon Broxton just for fun on days that Yelich takes off.
  21. It's not that crazy considering our current 4/5 OF options. Who is the leading candidate right now, Derek Fisher? Tyrone Taylor and Corey Ray do not inspire confidence for regular playing time.
  22. Not my money at the end of the day, so I'm all for it! Having Cain and Bradley in the OF (and Wong/Arcia/Urias in the IF) would be incredible and fun to watch.
  23. [sarcasm]I think the Mets gave Jed Lowrie a one-game send off to thank him for his $20 million contributions.[/sarcasm] (Just kidding, he appeared in nine but actually started zero games for the Mets (!!))
  24. David Robertson would be an amazing add behind Hader and Williams. Though if he's looking for a one-year deal to prove himself, he might not want to come to Milwaukee where he is unlikely to get any saves. (For those who aren't aware, he missed basically all of 2019-20 with injuries.)
