This is quite possibly the best way they can acquire a true 3/4 hitter for a year. They can’t pay judge and he’s the only free agent that can be that guy. Trades? Sure they could find a few 3/4 hitters trading burnes and woodruff. I see this as their best shot at a cleanup hitter without going into a rebuild. Everyone clamoring to “go for it” but then they shuffle the roster and bring in a guy with a strong possibility to succeed and we want more?

Work ethic for winker will certainly be solved by the fact that he’s a free agent after this season. I love this trade, amazing they gave up on winker already

Does Omar even get a multi year offer from another team? I would give him a 1 year 3 million deal to re-establish value. What an absolutely abysmal 1.5 years for him

Nothing would be better for the organization than this. There are ways we could fetch plenty of high end major league ready talent and have a similar record next year, followed by a very good team in 2024.

Five & four. Just shows how this team does not function as one unit. Every aspect of their game has stunk for an extended period of time this season, causing losses to far inferior opponents and preventing a long winning streak.

Just too many trash pitchers throwing against a good lineup. The lack of talented depth really caught up with this team this year.

I honestly hope the pirates sign him and he haunts us. Did he Pull a Chris jackie or mark chumura? is he not”gritty”? the whole situation with how visibly he has improved through spring training and even moreso during this season and is seen as trash is just weird. -

I’m not sure if stearns knew of the new rules on defensive positioning helping speedsters like Ruiz and frelick bunt, but man could we see a lot of bunts and stolen bases between them In the future. With those two on second and third with yelich and no shift, we might actually score some runs next year! -
I feel like rowdy will greatly benefit from shifts being reduced. Between rowdy and Ruiz/frelick bunting all over the place that should be three huge upgrades in the lineup.

This is looking more and more like a team that could only have hiura, yelich, Williams, Ashby and peralta on it next year. Hopefully “bites of the apple” Lauer can still net a couple B prospects.
