1. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ April 4 - Phillies 7, Brewers 4 Brewers now 6-2. I tried to upload the screenshots as usual, but every time I try to add an attachment it goes to the upload's progress bar for approximately 1 minute, then times out and says the site can't be reached. So no screenshots today. Houser pummeled, 3 1/3 innings, 9 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks and 1 strikeout. Chris Lee makes his major league debut and was solid. 2 2/3 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 strikeouts. Devin Williams gives up 2 runs in 1 1/3 inning of work. Luis Urias makes his Brewer debut and is 1/4 with a double and 1 RBI. Eric Sogard and David Freitas with solo home runs. Ryan Braun gets a start and goes 1/4 with a strikeout. Keston Hiura gets the golden sombrero. 4 at bats and 4 strikeouts. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Looks like I can add the attachments now- Game summary Hitters Pitchers
2. Ding, Ding, Ding. Right answer. I work for a big corporation that implemented a coronavirus code about a month ago for assigning hours. If you are sick, stay home and you will get paid. If someone in your household is sick, stay home and you will be paid. If you can't find someone to take care of your kids now that schools are closed, stay home and you will be paid. For the record, the last weekday I had off was MLK day, I've been at work (not remotely, at work) through this entire deal. Yesterday the e-mail came out, no coronavirus code. If you are sick, use your vacation time. If you have to stay home and take care of your kids, use your vacation time. If you don't have any vacation time, well then you and your boss has to figure it out but best case scenario is that you go into negative vacation time (meaning you don't get any new vacation time). I would strongly suspect that pretty much all big companies will adopt this as they look at their bottom line. And I believe all levels of government will support that. By now they know that capital gains tax revenue will probably be non-existent over the next couple of years. Income taxes will definitely be down. All that revenue they would get from businesses that they shut down goes down to nothing. Public employees still need to be paid. Roads still need to be built. Demands for individuals and private businesses will be up. I'm just a working slob like most other people. But I look at the reality of the situation. I just don't see how it's feasible for everyone to go live under a rock for 6 months. If any of the mods think I've crossed the political line here, please let me know and I'll delete the post and apologize.
3. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ Roster move made. Luis Urias added to 26 man roster and Brock Holt placed on the 10 day DL. As initially feared, the engine put Urias at 2B which sent Hiura to the bench as he is 2B only. At first I thought I would need to manually force Hiura at 2B; however, I instead did a "ask manager for all lineups" and that put Hiura back at 2B, put Urias at SS and put Arcia on the bench. Glad that worked out as I don't want to do any manual manipulation of the sim. So a breakdown of the 26-man roster: Primary lineup- 1. CF-Lorenzo Cain 2. RF-Avisail Garcia 3. 2B-Keston Hiura 4. LF-Christian Yelich 5. 1B-Justin Smoak 6. C-Omar Narvaez 7. SS-Luis Urias 8. 3B-Eric Sogard Reserves = C-David Freitas, 3B-Jedd Gyorko, SS-Orlando Arcia, LF-Ryan Braun, LF-Ben Gamel Starting rotation = Brandon Woodruff, Adrian Houser, Brent Suter, Freddy Peralta, Brett Anderson Bullpen = Josh Hader (Closer), Corbin Burnes (Setup), Devin Williams (Setup), Alex Claudio (Middle), Ray Black (Middle), David Phelps (Middle), Chris Lee (Long), Josh Lindblom (Long) DL = Corey Knebel (can be activated, 2 weeks of injured time left), Brock Holt (out 1-2 weeks, 10 more days on DL) 40-man roster has 32 players, here are the 4 players not on the 26-man roster and DL- RP-J.P. Feyereisen, 1B-Ryon Healy, SS-Ronny Rodriguez, LF-Tyrone Taylor Team stats Batting stats Pitching stats

5. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ April 2 - Brewers 7, Phillies 3 J.P Feyereisen optioned to AAA. LHP-Chris Lee added to the 25 man roster. https://www.brewcrewball.com/2019/12/14/21021660/milwaukee-brewers-purchase-contract-of-chris-lee-from-independent-leagues Brock Holt was injured in this game, a collision on the bases. Diagnosis is a sprained wrist, listed as day-to-day with a recovery time of 1-2 weeks. Since it's a day-to-day injury, he may avoid the disabled list. 6. I'm not sure how much of a pain that would be for Eye Black. The Brewers would have had an off-day on Friday, so on that day I'll probably post some screenshots like the standings, Brewer hitting and pitching stats. I could just start a new thread at that time. I really don't see any reason to migrate box scores over from the first seven games because I doubt people would have any interest in viewing them at that point, especially if I lead off the thread with the current standings and stats.
7. I suppose that I could go in, see who the starters are, then take control and move Yelich to #2, play through the first at-bat, and then turn the setting back to have Counsell manage the rest of the ballgame. However, I have no interest in doing that. As long at Yelich is starting and getting at-bats, I'm not going to mess with it. The one potential issue that might push me to do a modification is a possible Hiura/Urias situation at 2B. I've seen in past versions, a one-position guy who should be starting gets stuck on the bench because there is another guy who is better defensively at that position, pushing his rating higher and putting him in the lineup. Hiura's overall rating is 55. Urias is a 49; however, that's as a shortstop and they give him a 50 rating at shortstop but a 65 at second base....so if he's re-categorized as a second baseman that will push his grade higher than 49. If it pushes it over 55, that could drive the engine to make Urias the starting second baseman and if that happens, Hiura would go to the bench. If something like that happens, at that point I'll feel forced to modify it. However, plan is to not try to do any manipulations unless absolutely necessary. BTW, Arcia's grade is a 45, so I expect Urias to take his spot. Urias status is injured but only for 1 more day. OOTP does do rehab assignments, but since the AAA season doesn't start until the 9th, I'm expecting Urias to go straight on the 25-man roster. Would think that Arcia is probably the odd man out since he does have 1 option year left. But that would be a shame. As seen in the box score, his batting average is only .211. However, he's been one of the best hitters so far. Arcia's overall slash line to this point is .211/.348/.579/.927 and he's on the plus side in zone rating as well.
8. https://www.ootpdevelopments.com/ April 1 - Brewers 2, Cardinals 1 A number of Brewer relievers are currently in exhausted or tired status, explaining the late inning usage in this game. I'm expecting a fresh arm roster move to be made pretty quick. 14. One thing I should point out regarding the OOTP sim. Currently the Brewers only have 31 players on their 40 man roster. However, all players that are currently on the real-life Brewers 40-man roster are still in the Brewer's OOTP organization. Guys like Yardley, Wahl, Nottingham, Mathias, etc are still in the Brewer organization, just not on the 40-man. It does lose some realism, because if the Brewers pick up someone from outside of the organization, they won't be forced to move one of the current players off the 40-man. I thought about editing it and putting all the 40-man players on the 40-man; however, all the other teams have around 30 players on their 40-man roster as well. Since I'm too lazy to do this for every team, I'm not going to modify anything but just let it play out. This would not happen in future years of an OOTP sim, as I've played this and most often have to deal with some tough decisions with a near full 40-man roster when the Rule 5 draft is about to happen. OOTP Brewer's 40-man roster (31 players)- SP-Brett Anderson, Adrian Houser, Freddy Peralta, Brent Suter, Brandon Woodruff RP-Ray Black, Corbin Burnes, Alex Claudio, J.P. Feyereisen, Corey Knebel, Josh Lindblom, David Phelps, Devin Williams, Josh Hader (closer) C-David Freitas, Omar Narvaez IF-Ryon Healy, Justin Smoak, Keston Hiura, Brock Holt, Jedd Gyorko, Eric Sogard, Orlando Arcia, Ronny Rodriguez, Luis Urias OF-Ryan Braun, Ben Gamel, Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Avisail Garcia, Tyrone Taylor Another quick March 27 note, the Padres sign Yasiel Puig to a 1 year, 5.7 million dollar deal.

17. It’s obviously up to you, but I would certainly enjoy seeing the results if you’re willing to do it. I think at this point “waiting” until the weekend for some entertainment sounds like 5 minutes compared to the wait for semi-normal life to resume. I will post my first day of simulated MLB The Show results tomorrow for those interested. Are you guys just going to post the results/box scores? Is it difficult to post highlights or even full games? I've played OOTP for a few years and there is a "highlight" reel after every game--although OOTPs graphics are rather vintage, to be polite (and that is the only sports game that I play, so that's not a slight on the game) I was really hoping that I could load up one screenshot a day of the boxscore. Looks like it creates a 304 KB .jpg and that size file exceeds the file size limit when I try to do the upload to brewerfan. That kind of sucks. Any suggestions or workarounds would be welcome, I'll be signing off for the night but will take a look at it again tomorrow morning.

19. OOTP spring training simulation finished. Opening day roster- Starting Rotation = Brandon Woodruff, Brent Suter, Adrian Houser, Freddy Peralta, Brett Anderson Bullpen = Josh Hader (closer), Corbin Burnes (setup), Alex Claudio (setup), Devin Williams (middle), J.P. Feyereisen (middle), Ray Black (middle), David Phelps (middle), Josh Lindblom (long) Catcher = Omar Narvaez, David Freitas IF = Justin Smoak, Keston Hiura, Brock Holt, Jedd Gyorko, Eric Sogard, Orlando Arcia OF = Ryan Braun, Ben Gamel, Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain, Avisail Garcia Brewer's primary lineup: 1. CF-Lorenzo Cain 2. RF-Avisail Garcia 3. 2B-Keston Hiura 4. LF-Christian Yelich 5. 1B-Justin Smoak 6. C-Omar Narvaez 7. SS-Orlando Arcia 8. 3B-Eric Sogard Injury list = RP-Corey Knebel (3 weeks), SS-Luis Urias (1 week), RF-Tyrone Taylor (3 days) The one thing I can't figure out is that Manny Pina is showing up on the AAA roster and he's not on a DFA list or anything like that. I've double checked to make sure I have things setup correctly in terms of option years and I do. So I think OOTP blew that one. Logan Morrison also showing up on the AAA but that doesn't bother me as his situation is definitely not the same as Pina's. MiLB notes: Prospect Pipeline: #77 = 2B-Brice Turang #162 = RHP-Drew Rasmussen #296 =LHP-Antoine Kelly #300 = RF-Corey Ray #309 = C-Mario Feliciano #316 = RF-Tristen Lutz #332 = LHP-Ethan Small #346 = LHP-Aaron Ashby #368 = CF-Hedbert Perez #433 = RHP-Zack Brown #472 = RHP-Max Lazar I've put the prospect list on dynamic which means it will change everyday. I will post an update every now and then. Since there will likely be a lot of player shuffling between MLB and AAA, here is the AAA roster- Starting pitchers = Drew Rasmussen, Eric Lauer, Zack Brown, Alec Bettinger, Aaron Wilkerson Relief pitchers = Jesus Castillo (closer), Chris Lee (setup), Dylan File (setup), Justin Grimm (middle), Jake Faria (middle), Bubba Derby (long), Shelby Miller (long) Catcher = Manny Pina, Tuffy Gosewisch IF = Logan Morrison, Ryon Healy, Andres Blanco, Mark Mathias, Lucas Erceg, Patrick Leonard, Ronny Rodriguez OF = Jace Peterson, Keon Broxton, Cooper Hummel, Corey Ray Only other minor league note is that RHP-Noah Zavolas has been released.

21. I've got OOTP setup. I've had OOTP13 and OOTP17 and this is OOTP21, so there are some new things in the setup screen but only one has caught my eye. There is a "hook for starting pitcher" and "hook for relief pitcher." They can be set anywhere from +5 (very slow) to -5 (very quick) and default settings are not at default (0) but at -5 for starters and -3 for relievers. I'm going to leave it at these default settings largely because Counsell has about the quickest hook I've ever seen...I just don't hope it ends up with Brandon Woodruff having 32 starts and only 120 innings in those 32 starts. We'll see what happens. I've also set it up where I am a GM & Manager that is currently unemployed. Therefore, I have no control over any of the 30 teams. I'm going to sim through spring training tonight, post the opening day roster and anything newsworthy that happens in spring training and wait until tomorrow to do game 1. I'm also going to see if uploading files onto this board works or not? So some of my posts will probably look pretty messed up. If I can't figure it that out, I'll just post some quick notes regarding the games with some occasional season stat updates. Also will give some minor league updates as time permits.

23. I could do this but I'd be late with the first few games. I didn't realize the season would start tomorrow (just not used to games in March that count). Generally before I start I like to take some time and look through all the setup screens to make sure everything looks right. Probably wouldn't be able to get around to that until Saturday, even if I would purchase OOTP tonight.

25. Funchess has had stone hands dating all the way back to his Michigan days. He runs like a TE (4.70 40-time at the combine). Michigan had him at TE his first couple seasons but then moved him to WR because he couldn't block (and reportedly wasn't interested in blocking and remained uninterested in blocking when he moved to WR). He is tall and can jump and that's about it. Thing I don't like about him is that he broke his clavicle in week 1 last year and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks but then missed the entire season because it didn't heal properly. Mediocre player that sounds like an injury risk. Yeah, maybe Rodgers will make him better because I never liked Newton as a pure passer....but I still remember seeing so many passes boink right off his hands when he played for Michigan that I don't have much hope. Here's to hoping that he is completely mediocre but still makes a couple big catches that wins a couple big games. Gutey must love the Big 10. Iowa, Wisconsin and now Michigan.
