Funchess has had stone hands dating all the way back to his Michigan days. He runs like a TE (4.70 40-time at the combine). Michigan had him at TE his first couple seasons but then moved him to WR because he couldn't block (and reportedly wasn't interested in blocking and remained uninterested in blocking when he moved to WR). He is tall and can jump and that's about it. Thing I don't like about him is that he broke his clavicle in week 1 last year and was expected to miss 6-8 weeks but then missed the entire season because it didn't heal properly. Mediocre player that sounds like an injury risk. Yeah, maybe Rodgers will make him better because I never liked Newton as a pure passer....but I still remember seeing so many passes boink right off his hands when he played for Michigan that I don't have much hope. Here's to hoping that he is completely mediocre but still makes a couple big catches that wins a couple big games. Gutey must love the Big 10. Iowa, Wisconsin and now Michigan.

We shalt be saved! Direct from Safer at Home order. 4. Closures. All of the following facilities shall be closed: a. Public and private K-12 schools and public libraries. Except for facilitating distance learning or virtual learning, public and private K-12 schools are closed for pupil instruction and extracurricular activities. Libraries shall close for all in-person services, but may continue to provide on-line services and programming. Schools and public libraries may be used for Essential Government Functions and food distribution. This section does not apply to facilities operated by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections or the Department of Military Affairs including the Challenge Academy. b. Places of public amusement and activity. Whether indoors or outdoors, including but not limited to amusement parks, carnivals, water parks, licensed public or private swimming pools, splash pads, aquariums, zoos, museums, arcades, fairs, children's play centers, playgrounds, funplexes, theme parks, bowling alleys, movie and other theaters, concert and music halls, country clubs, social clubs, and gyms and fitness centers. c. Salons and spas. This includes, but is not limited to, hair salons, barber shops, nail salons, day spas, electrolysis providers, waxing salons, eyebrow-care establishments, tattoo parlors, body art establishments, and tanning facilities. Everybody else, go to work, go to the grocery store, go to the hardware store, go to the auto care shop, go to the laudromat, go to the bank, and make the trip down to Illinois to buy your dope because that is essential although it may not be legal. I have it on good authority that you are much more likely to catch this bug on a golf course than you would a laundromat. Trust me. One question, is there a difference between a tattoo parlor and a body art establishment? Regardless, I'm really glad they listed both for those of us who are unsure. I believe that "body art establishments" are places that typically specialize in piercings. Yes, but I was under the impression that tattoos are body art, so wouldn't a tattoo parlor be classified as a body art establishment?

In November 2018 there was one snowstorm that dumped 6.4 inches in New York City. Chicago got 12.7 inches of snow in November of 2018. They likely see snow as being a risk in the northern markets that they care about, and don't want to have to mess with the schedule due to cancellations. There is also the chance that a Yankee's starter might hurt himself because he couldn't properly get loose in 40 degree weather, which as we all know, could very well bring an end to the entire baseball universe. It could also prove to be a crowning achievement for MLB. If games were moved to Miami, for the first time in a long time people might actually go to the stadium to watch a baseball game.

It looks like the number of new cases in Italy has fallen each of the last two days. If they have indeed hit their plateau in new confirmed cases, it took about three weeks to reach that plateau from when it first started taking off. China had a two week ramp up, then a bizarre 3 day spike occurred about a week after that when numbers appeared to be falling. France had a goofy spike today. Previous four days looked like it had leveled off there. Next seven days we'll probably get some good hard data out of Europe which, I'm guessing, will end up being a pretty good indicator of how long this is going to last. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/

It's very likely that I will be buying the new version of Out of the Park Baseball. If people are interested, I could set up a season sim and just sim one game on the same date as the actual game was to be played and post the results on this board. I'm like most people, I just don't see any meaningful baseball happening over the next three months.

Tonyan and Sternberger could double their numbers from last year and that wouldn't mean much as Tonyan had 100 yards and Sternberger had 15 yards and that includes the playoffs. Maybe Sternberger will turn out to be something....maybe not....but Lewis and Tonyan are nothing more than fringe players. Neither of these guys presented any challenge to Jimmy Graham's playing time and Graham is definitely well towards the bottom of the "NFL starters" list. I think tight end is a fairly significant need area for the team.

I've heard that experts are suspecting that 6 out of 7 people who get it will never shot any symptoms. Obviously at this point nothing that comes from the media can be trusted regarding this subject because the government will just spoon-fed the journalists...basically making the numbers say whatever message they want to get out there. But if 6 out of 7 people will never show any symptoms, in turn that would cut the death rate down by a factor of 7. And if that's the case, have the world governments made this a way bigger deal than it really is? I guess it all depends on if the powers-that-be decide this to be a "the world is coming to an end" day or if the powers-that-be decide this to be a "just don't panic" day. Personally, I'm just sick of it all.

I would guess that it spreads people out to get their necessities. If there is only ONE place to get food, everybody has to go to that place to get it. This seems problematic to me. It also helps those restaurants stay in business. I hear what you are saying. This is how I view it. Now I'm sure there are people who love the deli/bakery at their local grocery store, and because of that will make 3-4 trips to the store every week. But I think those people are in a minority. For most people, I'd guess the grocery store is a once a week or once every couple of weeks trip. Before the COVID-19 stuff started, I was a once a week to the grocery store and generally 3 times a week stop somewhere and pick up dinner to take home. I have completely stopped with the takeout food and an just doing grocery shopping once a week but am going to try and stuff as much in my fridge after the next trip where I can make it a once every two week trip. I'm guessing there are a lot of people out there like me who would limit there movement much more if takeout food wasn't an option. Also, what about if the one kid working the drive through at McDonald's is also the one person who has been infected with COVID-19 and just doesn't know it yet. Now the rules have funneled every customer right to a contagious individual. And as far as allowing take out food allowing restaurants to (1) stay in business and (2) spreads people out more...wouldn't that apply to all retail businesses? If I need a couple new shirts, instead of being able to go to a clothing retailer, I now am forced with all the other people to a Walmart or Target. The Ohio Stay at Home thing is a joke and I'm guessing Wisconsin's will be equally as ridiculous. The way Ohio's is, it would be perfectly fine to start out my day by going and getting some groceries, and then stopping at the auto store to pick up an air filter on the way back. Then I could head to the laundromat, then head to the wacky weed dispensary to pick up some dope, and then go pick up some take out food. So I have to ask, what good is an order like this? Just seems like politician's doing the "we're going to save you" pose, when essentially these orders aren't really accomplishing anything at all except preventing me from getting my springtime haircut.

Milwaukee announced 56 or was it 53 new cases yesterday. Time to lockdown WI. Done. Effective tomorrow per the governors twitter account. Details to follow later apparently. LOL, read pages 5-7 of the Ohio lockdown. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2020/03/read-gov-mike-dewines-stay-at-home-order.html It's a lockdown, but we'll make an exception for everything but clothing stores (just everyone pile into Walmart for that since 10% of their floorspace is for essential groceries), bars/resturants and entertainment stuff (ballgames, movie theaters). I still haven't heard a reasonable argument as to how providing take-out food qualifies as an "essential business?"

Have to wonder if Chris Archer would be a decent fit for the Yankees? He hasn't been that good the last 1.5 years in Pittsburgh, but any East Coast writer would immediately tell you that he is AL East proven which makes him better than 75% of the starting pitching in MLB. Maybe he just isn't motivated by playing for a C-team like Pittsburgh in a B-division like the NL Central? Yankees get: RHP-Chris Archer Pirates get: RHP-Alexander Vizcaino 2B-Ezequiel Duran RHP-Nick Nelson

I wonder if the Yankees have called the Mets yet and made the big-time offer of both Andujar and Frazier for either deGrom or Syndergaard?

Chris Sale to undergo Tommy John surgery
JosephC replied to Matt Breen's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Nolan Ryan: 284 innings, 326 innings, 332 innings, 198 innings, 284 innings, 299 innings, 234 innings, 222 innings, 233 innings Tom Seaver: 251 innings, 278 innings, 273 innings, 290 innings, 286 innings, 262 innings, 290 innings, 236 innings, 280 innings I remember the days when pitching coaches actually taught sound mechanics and didn't just focus on opposing hitters and pitch sequencing. Now the attitude seems to be, "good, this guy has a funky delivery that may mess up some hitters...I don't care if he blows his arm out four years from now because by then he'll probably be pitching for someone else." -

More justification for the Betts trade IMO. I just didn't see the Red Sox being able to keep pace with the Yankees and Rays with Sale's elbow, Eovaldi's elbow, Price's trouble at the end of last year (wrist), little in the way of starting pitching depth. Had the Betts/Price trade not happened, without Sale their rotation probably looks something like this: David Price (health?), Eduardo Rodriguez, Nathan Eovaldi (health?), Martin Perez, Collin McHugh (health?). Seems like the right time to reset the luxury tax IMO. -
Sad day for me. I agree with this move because of the injury factor, but it's still hard to see a personal favorite move on (just like Randall Cobb, who was another personal favorite). I pretty much find Chris Berman annoying 100% of the time, but I'll never forget when the Packers drafted Bulaga and Brian was making that walk to get the cap and handshake and Berman did the, "Woah, this guy just looks like an old-school Packer." Truer words were never spoken.

That's a little deceptive on Haering because his territory is Wisconsin and generally Bucky is able to get early commitments from all the Wisconsin kids. All five of those commits are Wisconsin kids and 2 of them are 4-star recruits.

If China's numbers are to be believed, they have had 81058 confirmed cases out of a population of 1,433,783,686...a rate of 0.0057%. I think it's reasonable to question these numbers though, as early estimates out of China put the casualty rate of this in the range of 1-3% and it looks more and more like the casualty rate will actually be more in the 6-8% range (obviously still to be determined). Italy has been hit the hardest of the 12 countries with the highest number of infections. Even so, they have had 27980 confirmed cases out of a population of 60,550,075...a rate of 0.046% China's numbers are waning, and as of now 1 out of every 17688 people in China have been infected. Even if those numbers are off by a factor of 100, then we are looking at 1 in every 175 people being infected. I'm not trying to minimize the pandemic because there are lives lost and the economic impact will be significant. But at the same time, we need to keep some perspective.

Am I the only one who is really surprised that Lane Taylor is still on the Packer's roster? I loved Kirksey as a Hawkeye, but to me it's really risky to rely on a 28 year old ILB that's only played in 9 games over the last two seasons. To me it's obvious that the Packers needed to add two players at this position, so hopefully there will be another player added by free agency or a high pick will be used on the position. Martinez had issues, but I think part of those issues were that the Packers just didn't have a suitable guy lining up next to him for any length of time. Thompson really botched that position and it sure looks like Gutekunst completely whiffed on Burks. It will be interesting to see how much Wagner has left in the tank. Another one of the great Badger walk-ons.

Princeton and UCLA published some findings last week, not yet peer-reviewed. The virus remains viable in aerosols for 3 hours. Remains viable on certain plastics and stainless steels for 72 hours, although viable levels drop significantly for stainless steel after 48 hours. Less then four hours on copper. Less than 24 hours on cardboard.
