lets also not forget that of their 12 wins, 5 are against milwaukee. So they've only won 7 games against everyone else so far.

coming off being Pitcher of the Month for the Brewers, Brooks threw another solid outing for Biloxi, he's now 4-0 with a 1.32 ERA, 29/7 K/BB, and in his last outing threw 67 of 96 pitches for strikes and so far keeping hitters at a .202/.242/.500 triple slash. I really hope he keeps these numbers up, or at least close to them, another quality arm in our system (granted small sample size of the last two years thanks to surgery). Pretty exciting with him, Wagner and Hobbs in AA!

other way around, Kingham with elbow, Glassnow with hip. regardless, chalk those two up with Tailon coming off TJ in the last year and 3 of the Pirates top Pitching prospects all have blemishes.

While I agree with your premise in principle, the reality is that the higher up in the MiLB chain a prospect is the more expensive he is, this is no different than MLB. The better performance you get, the more you have to pay... So if you're talking about get the best possible talent for a player like a Lohse for example, well that talent most likely isn't going to be in AA or AAA, he's going to be in any of the rookie leagues or A ball. A player like Lohse could land you a big armed reliever with control issues in AA but that type of prospect doesn't interest me. If they aren't consistently throwing strikes by the time they hit AA, and especially AAA, then I'd rather move on. The upper minors are filled with those guys, especially AAA, the majority of them are never going to have a sustained MLB career because if they haven't learned it by then, what's going to change? Especially in the Brewer organization, it's not like we have a great record of developing pitchers. Furthermore I'm interested in starting pitching, so any time we target a reliever in a trade it will draw my ire by default. I'd rather acquire as many big armed starting pitchers as possible and convert them to relief as last resort rather than trading 180 innings for 60 from the get go. I believe that it's much easier to find relievers than it is to find starting pitching. I'd rather devote more resources to the more difficult path... I am totally 100% on board with this

the more I think of it, this is easily the most secure hire they could make. Craig isnt going to leave Milwaukee for another franchise, this was about as solid of a hire that they could make, let alone in season. It wont be an issue in the off-season, they can just focus on re-tooling or doing whatevers necessary to help Craig move the team forward.

MLB teams can't draft 4 year college players until after their Junior year...at which point they can accept or decline/return. Though if you decide to play your Senior year you have no leverage in the draft and will lose out on any possible bonus. Huh, I did not know that! So MLB is similar to the NFL, except they can take straight from high school, and can return to NCAA ball after their junior or senior year (can someone be a 5th year senior in NCAA baseball similar to NCAA football)?

I would take prospects from the Pirates, I know they could use one of either Loshe or Garza for their rotation if they think they can contend this year. -
Know who else was pretty bad at baseball for 13 years? Mike Matheny, and he's already taken the devil to the promiseland.
