  1. Interesting choice of Cain for the most disappointing player. I was contemplating picking him as well since I think there might be a slight regression in his offensive numbers that could be a little concerning with 4 years left on his contract. He does turn 33 early this season and his ability to beat out a lot of infield hits might turn into being out by half a step in the next season or two. It’ll be interesting to see if his legs will allow him to do what he has always done or if it will start to be an issue for him as early as this season. I hated writing his name in there but just a gut feeling with him. Hope I'm dead wrong though. He is an absolute joy to watch play baseball.

  3. The Fields of Green- Value of a Postseason Here is the link that he is referring to.
  4. Hope he takes Posey’s job. Hell of a guy.
  5. So did we sign Kimbrel yet? Maybe we should change the thread title on this one.
  6. Yep. Uneventful to say the least.
  7. My head hurts.
  8. Good luck to the seniors and Happ as he tries the next level. Glad to start anew though. We need shooters and a fresh look at offense. Pitiful performance from this group. Wouldn’t mind seeing Gard let go.
  9. I really don't recall Anderson being as described above. I remember him being disappointed on it but none of the rest. I must've been too locked in on them during the playoffs to remember that stuff or something.
  10. The team's ace missed the whole season. Their #3 & #4 (Davies and Miley) missed huge chunks of the year. Tough injuries happen to every team, every year. Solidly built teams can overcome them, just as the Brewers did last year. Did they get lucky? Maybe. But I don't think luck is entirely random when it comes to baseball either. Correct. Injuries happen every season, to every team. Last year was really no different. We just happened to work through them better than other years because we found pieces that stepped in and performed higher than projections. How injuries affect teams also are different season to season. Lots of variables to baseball. Building the most depth they possibly can give them a chance to compete even with injuries but even then it is not a guarantee.
  11. Knebel has some dead arm. It happens to pretty all pitchers at some point. Disagree, doesn’t happen to all pitchers at some point. It’s in the Brewers best interest to downplay the possible injuries to jeffress AND Knebel. The Brewers NEED Kimbrel and his agent not stupid. Brewers in trouble here, even if they get Kimbrel. He won’t make up for not having TWO of our best high leverage pen arms. I’m more than concerned, I’m scared. Sign Kimbrel and I’ll just be concerned. It really does but yes, keep littering the page with overreactions to every bit of news that falls out of spring training.

  13. I think I like it better when these things come out of the blue. This is a total setup for a crushing signing elsewhere. Especially if it is in Chicago or St. Louis.
  14. Michigan State Virginia Gonzaga Houston Zags over Michigan State
  15. While this would be fantastic, I also am in the camp of skepticism. Feels so much like a move to get the dollar figure to slide up for another team.
  16. Seeing Cobb on the Cowboys is rough. Ish.
  17. No. No, they do don’t.
  18. Nope. I had the same gut reaction to the deal. He is an insane talent but this deal also shows how lopsided top end players are compensated compared to a guy making 500K a year or less.
  19. It's not like the Packers can't use the draft to find another CB, right? It's March. There will be plenty of opportunities to add depth at CB even after the draft.
  20. At some point, you have to let the young guys go out and get after it. I think they primed that three-headed monster last year in our pen so that they are able to let them go out this year and be starting pitchers for us. They are too unpredictable to know what will come of it but there definitely is talent in those arms and it wouldn't shock me to see any of them pitch very well this year.
  21. If Happ shows up, they'll win. If he is off, I give the game to Oregon.
  22. You had me agreeing until you said Tomlin. Tomlin has been beyond awful the last 2 years. 211 IPs - 258 hits allowed in those innings - 48 HRs allowed - ERA of 5.39 - a .300 batting average allowed. He is little more than a batting practice chump at this point in his career. Granted Davies isn't going to ever be anything more than a 5th starter, but he's still a much better option than a washed-up Tomlin. To be fair that is exactly what everyone said about Miley last season. Tomlin worked hard at driveline to improve his mechanics, it won't surprise me if he looks a ton better than he has the past couple of years. The science of pitching is fixing a lot of guys. I keep hearing about Driveline but who exactly have they fixed? Miley wasn't fixed by them. He made an adjustment with his cutter.
  23. Lopez not getting a hand in the face of Embid is just ridiculous. All stems from selling out on the play prior against him. Figure it out man.
  24. Marathon. Not a sprint.
