  1. Toss in 10-20 from Happ shooting from 2ft away from the basket.
  2. Michigan State is more talented obviously but our offense is just so stale. Maybe Happ graduating helps that? I don’t know.
  3. I view this as LaFleur doubling down on his commitment to the running game. Lewis is probably one of if not the top blockers in the league. He's a solid receiver who was underutilized in that department by McCarthy. I am getting more and more excited to see what a TE corps of Graham/Lewis/Tonyan and a drafted rookie can do in an innovative offense that plays to their strengths. Not to mention that Lewis had his best work in Nathaniel Hackett's offense in Jacksonville. That being said, from what I've read in terms of scout's opinions, his ability to block fell off last year from his normal standards. Thanks, McCarthy.
  4. I agree, but think this whole thing smacks of being sponsor-driven. Which I do understand from their POV. The reality is you can't get approval from players and teams, because they're going to be the purists. If they want to move the sport forward, continue growing the base fo young fans etc., the game really does have to get faster. I personally love a 4-hour game that goes to almost midnight. But that's not the societal trend. I'm not sure this is going to speed up the game, but I accept why this stuff is happening. Good post here. I agree with it. I read that the average viewer is 55+ years of age for MLB. If they want to tap into the younger demographic, change is needed.
  5. MLB.com- How the 3-batter minimum will change baseball Good article to read over.
  6. I’m sure it’ll happen and then another rule will be made.
  7. That's pretty much how LOOGYs and specialists are already used - so no need for the rule. Even when a reliever opens an inning, it normally takes them facing 2-3 batters before they're in a jam and the manager makes the call to the pen to try and get out of an inning with a specialist - so again, no need for the rule. This 3 batter minimum with exceptions of mid-inning pitching change rule pretty much reeks of making a rulechange to say you're doing something, but in reality you're doing just a little more than nothing. And some of the potential repercussions, like a LOOGY being brought in mid-inning to get out of a jam only to walk a LH hitter or give up a hit followed by him having to face a stud RH hitter, are going to lead to longer gametimes. It stops that clown to the south from pitching a guy for a batter at a time. And if it leads to more offense because GM's don't do their jobs and find quality bullpen arms, then it is a win-win.
  8. It'd be interesting to know how much time is used on replay versus managers throwing fits on the field because a call didn't go their way.
  9. Good. Be an actual pitcher and get some outs. So happy to see the rules being changed and ending these guys that don't belong getting a MLB paycheck (IMO).
  10. Good for Cleveland. We will see them in the Super Bowl!
  11. Golden Tate would be pretty fun in our offense. Has a knack for getting loose like Driver did.
  12. People wanted action and they got action. It will be very interesting to see how these new players fit.
  13. Yeah, I wouldn't get your hopes up on this one.
  14. Wasn't this guy a complete jerk?
  15. No matter who he signs with, these players are dumb for prolonging their approach to spring training.
  16. Jeffress is a guy I totally expect to regress. Hopefully others are ready to go.
  17. While many will point out the negatives of the season, they blast through the positives as if those are almost guaranteed to have happen again. Every season is a crapshoot for the most part. Especially with younger, unproven players. LOTS broke the right direction for them last season or they don't win the division and get within a game of the WS. That part isn't even debatable in my eyes. That's not saying it cannot, or will not happen again. It is just being realistic with what occurred a season ago. My point about Dallas still remains. Continue to build mounds and mounds of depth and take your best shot at it. Many have mentioned it during other threads. The depth of the 40-man roster is one huge factor in our success a season ago.
  18. Flip a coin between the Cubs, Cards, and Brewers. A lot of things broke right for the crew a season ago and I hope they do again. Adding Dallas might help that happen as it adds depth to that rotation and allows for things like an injury to occur and not kill their chances.
  19. -Speedy pinch runners have a role but they also play positions and hit. It is a teams choice if they want to carry a below average hitter in return for some speed. -DH types again play a more significant role in the game than a one-out getter in the pen. If a team wants a big bat that can't defend, that is their choice to have that trade-off and the same goes but in the opposite direction for late defensive game replacements. If a team wants a crappy hitter on their bench because the guy is a whiz with the glove, well then again, that is their choice. -If a guy can't pitch to three batters and hit the strike zone, then he doesn't belong in the major leagues. Maybe having this rule would force the GM's to find actual pitchers rather than just throwers that can bring it 95+. Either the game will go faster because there are less pitching changes or it will create offense from those GM's not being able to find strike throwers. Win-win!
  20. I thought that was the best proposal out there from a fan's perspective. I was all for it. End the specialty pitcher. Put it out of its misery already. Make these guys earn a paycheck.
  21. But did you stay at a Holiday Inn Express?
  22. CJ Mosley would look nice in Green Bay. Get him and Houston.
  23. Free throw shooting is one reason why this team has been hard to watch for me. It is one thing to not be great at it but another to be that bad at it.
