  1. The second one bounced off of Bandy's leg. Either way it is lazy technique to try to backhand rather than block. Catching 101 Spiked 95mph fastballs are what they are. It is not easy so no, not catching 101.
  2. Three blown saves since Knebel injury and Knebel had one himself. Yet our bullpen is our strength?
  3. Williams and Barnes are very talented but this is pure crap and why it’s hard to trust either.
  4. Yep and just like you didn’t agree with not signing Cobb, I don’t agree with this. It is okay. I can disagree and so can you. I just find it silly. Not looking to report anyone. Just don’t need to be addressed that way is all. I’m not answering the questions because it leads us no where. You have a differing opinion, and that’s cool. I’ve got mine. Moving on...
  5. You say blow as if it is a certainty. Your last sentence is what gets you in trouble around here. Right now Suter and Chacin are taking starts. I would’ve had no issue without either of those two being in our rotation if it meant Hader was getting his shot at a rotation spot. And he may be an all star this year. Again, not a certainty. And we aren’t winning the series this year, so a perfect opportunity to see what Hader has is lost. Who gives a rats behind if it possibly took away an all star year from him. Maybe he wins rookie of the year as a pitcher. You just don’t know. Not trying it is silly. Asking questions gets me in trouble? Well here come trouble. Haders a stud as is... agree disagree? Do you expect him to struggle as a starter? Do you expect him to go deep in games? Over 5? How long are you going to watch an all star reliever struggle before you stop calling it growing pains? Hey, we have Suter starting and Chacin and Miley was set to and Guerra tomorrow, Woodruff too. Don't you think if they thought Hader was an option he'd get a shot over that bunch? Don't you think its odd that my wanting of Cobb was readily greeted with... the brain trust knows better... yet here you are calling those same people silly? Strange people. Didn’t call anyone silly. The decision to not try him as a starter is silly to me. Learn how to address people as I see you have changed to your post already. Then I’ll be happy to continue to discuss anything with you. Even when we don’t agree. Til then, bye.

  7. You know how I can tell your grumpy and looking for a fight ----^ You know quite well there is a difference between... "lets try our all star reliever as a starter, despite the fact that he's only gone 5 ip in the minors, despite his elite strike out stuff, due to control issues... and never giving a guy a shot. You have an all star... "but we could have more!!!" Or we could waste 2 years of having an all star non closing reliever, something that's very very rare, so we can try for more. It's not even like we are short on options in the near future. He gets a shot... cross off woodruff and Peraltas shot in the next 2-3 years cuz that's all but done. It's like playing Yelich in CF... you got a GG LF... but more!!! Name relievers like him not named Miller. Miller's a god. Haders streaking towards that territory. Hit a 1 in 100,000 want a 1 in a billion. Great way to screw up a great hit. I just think it’s silly not to try him there. Trying to justify it is silly to me. And Yelich has been tried in CF because he’d be even more valuable if he was great there. Not trying it is silly. Moving on...
  8. Huh? So because it might not go well we shouldn’t do it? I guess no minor leaguer, ever, should ever get a chance to prove themselves. Wait, what?...
  9. A hybrid spring/summer probably would be in the best interest of the game. Doubtful the WIAA makes the appropriate adjustments though.
  10. You are waaaaaay to hard on him. It's like you almost don't want to believe he's a good pitcher. No, just a bit realistic compared to others. People are pleading for him to get a chance and dream he is a future ace. That despite showing little to believe he can be highly successful as a starter. Keyword in your post being future. He COULD be a future ace that needs time to develop as a starting pitcher. Becoming an ace usually doesn't happen overnight. The success he's shown so far and the dominance he's brought to the mound has a lot of people wondering if he can begin doing that over five innings and then develop that even further. It's not out of this world thinking, at all.
  11. You aren't wrong at all. The team would have to give up high value prospects to get a younger controllable starter in return, no doubt. I'm sure, though, that the team has certain values attached to all their high-level prospects, and some will be easier to get than others. If they trade those high-value guys, the return should be expected to be significant ... I guess like the pitcher version of Yelich. Guys like Stroman and Fullmer fall into that category. Archer too, I guess, to a lesser degree. A lot depends on where they are at standings-wise as well. If they are in striking distance once the calendar turns to July, and the rotation is still having issues, I have no doubt that they will make a move for a big name. Of course, guys like Burnes, Peralta and Houser could theoretically be up in the rotation by then, along with Nelson back, so the point may be moot. I sure hope Burnes Peralta aren't dealt. I could stomach Woody Ortiz because I think their assent will take longer to fine tune but Burnes Peralta seem ready to contribute now atleast in some fashion. Yep, we've brought them along to AAA and I don't want to see them dealt now. I want to see them in Brewers uniforms.
  12. You are waaaaaay to hard on him. It's like you almost don't want to believe he's a good pitcher.
  13. It'll really stink if we get impatient, trade away arms, and they become successful elsewhere. It will really, really.. suck.
  14. Are you two the same poster?
  15. So then why not just have them join the rotation then? A half a season is enough to have them go from not ready to ready? I don’t think it is. I don’t think Burnes, Peralta or Ortiz was ever expected to make a significant impact in the rotation this year. That’s why they signed Miley and Gallardo. That was your depth. Not Burnes or Peralta. As do I. I just don’t buy the argument that signing Cobb or Arrietta would somehow prevent Burnes Woodruff or Peralta from having a opportunity to make the rotation. You don't just have them join your rotation because of service clocks, needing experience, etc... Stearns has already mentioned Burnes as a possible rotation guy for mid-season so I don't buy that he is not apart of our depth. Same thing with Peralta. IF he's lights out in AAA and we are in need of an arm at the major league level, you better believe he's coming at some point. It is a mixture of roster construction. Signing those other guys mentioned in your second part can keep those guys down. I don't want to see that. I want to see our young arms come through and have opportunities to make dents as Brewers. Not be blocked at AA/AAA because we had to have a fancy new expensive toy that wouldn't push this team to the next level anyway.
  16. Another buy-low candidate for Stearns... let's offer Thames and see if they go for it.
  17. That's hilarious. The biggest thing you mentioned is more games. It is great to have the ability to get close to 40 games in during the summer.
  18. Khris Davis makes it close at home.
  19. Or the offseason set us up to have those guys join our rotation. I want those guys in there. I don't want Cobb, Arrieta, etc... I want young-controllable arms anchoring out our rotation and we have some serious arms in the mix to do that. I view it as a success that we didn't buy into those guys as rotation fixes. We are in a better place because of it.
  20. Among growing up and playing in Superior, WI (spring ball) I coached up there for six seasons, and now in Iowa (summer ball) for three seasons. I will take summer baseball and it isn't even close. It allows kids here to go out for the track team (football coaches love this), soccer, or golf during their spring and then to focus on baseball in the summer. Can't tell you how much players in Superior we lost to the track team alone that could've made a difference for us. They then go out and play legion baseball in the summer and do pretty well. It was annoying on top of having to deal with the absolutely lousy weather. Now I will say you do have some kids that will use the "well, I want a summer" excuse for not playing but those really aren't the kids you want anyway.
  21. I doubt the Brewers have any internal definition of "a #3" or "a #5" pitcher. They signed Chacin to be... Chacin. Yeah, we seem to always want to label pitchers as a number in a rotation (and that is fine) but it clouds us sometimes.
  22. Boomer5, I get you don't like Chacin and that is perfectly fine, but you are arguing just to argue when someone shows you statistical evidence as to why Chacin was signed to be a back-end rotation piece. Getting silly.
