  1. Honestly do these guys not practice sliding, ever? Ridiculous
  2. What do you think? He’s open to switching teams. Brewers could lock him up. Marlins Man says he'll no longer attend team's home games
  3. I see you changed your original post but even this one, umm... of course he’s better than Drake. It’s an upgrade. Why wouldn’t people be happy about that? So if a guy puts up better stats, isn’t that a good thing? And upside? Drake is 31 years old. These guys are what they are. Jennings has just made a career at the MLB level at getting guys out pretty consistently.
  4. Moss was had for a 4th round pick. (Stupid Thompson) This is apples to oranges other than they happen to be great WRs.
  5. He becomes this years Jared Hughes. Late pickup who will be called upon to get us key ground balls in crappy situations.
  6. Stearns strikes again. Now can Drake already.
  7. Counsel cant help himself. Drake will appear in San Diego and give up a key run. No question! He’ll probably get put in against Homser before Hader in a key spot in a game.
  8. I would choose a different word for my description. Stearns managed to take an already odd roster construction and make it worse. I know the roster is likely to change within the next week, but it seems we have the only GM in the majors who still values corner outfielders and first basemen. He's collecting them like baseball cards. Outside the box thinking sometimes works. We’ll see if he’s able to stash more talent by what he’s doing soon enough.
  9. Hilarious that we are keeping 3 true first basemen and Braun is starting opening day over them. Whodathunkit?!!
  10. Now that’s funny right there. All the “leads” and “inside sources” of this off-season. Comical stuff I tell ya.
  11. I love that we are keeping Choi.
  12. Probably just keeping options open. I'm sure the players are in the loop a bit. Really not too big of a deal.
  13. Right. And it's not like the minor league season starts tomorrow. He's got nothing but time right now.
  14. Meh, I'm not the slightest bit interested in him to be honest. I would rather we trade for Patrick Peterson and find WR's in the draft. It's worked pretty well in our past.
  15. What I want to know is how much "rest" is a guy with the day off really getting? They are still coming to the ballpark at the same time, sitting out under the sun shagging balls, getting their practice at bats, stretching, have to be ready to pinch hit, etc, etc, etc. Now if you told them not to come to the ballpark, then I could see that as a real rest. A lot of the rest days are a mental thing. Your mind is always working while playing the game. A rest day, or even playing in a partial game can do a guy plenty of good. But even beyond that point, it can also do the body good to not have to be on your feet for 3 hours in a night. I wouldn't push any of my players past the 150 mark. I just don't see a need for it if you have the depth on your team. And the Brewers, whether they trade Santana or not, have the depth to get this done.
  16. Very few teams have enough quality to justify sitting a star 10% of the time if he's healthy. The extra 5-10 starts by the star, even if he's tired, are likely going to be better than what the backup would provide. Generally, if the backup is good enough to justify sitting the star, then that backup should be starting somewhere and you're wasting his talent as a bench player. Eh, I don't know about that. If the Brewers 4th OF was Brett Phillips this season, I would be all for them playing him to keep those other guys fresh. I can even think back to when Gerardo Parra was on our team and we have Khrush - Gomez - Braun as our starters but Parra was plenty good enough to "steal" starts away from those three that were good starters. I just think there is a new approach to how these players can be used and I'm glad the Brewers have this "problem" of having too many good players on their team.
  17. Brewers Top 25 Prospects: 1. Keston Hiura- 2B: I am extremely excited for this bat to be in Milwaukee. The ball just jumps off this kids bat. 2. Corbin Burnes- P: He won’t have much else to prove and could be a call up come June. 3. Brandon Woodruff- P: I kind of wanted to knock him down the list but it is hard to argue that he is not one of the top Brewers prospects, even though I hope he’s graduating this season. 4. Freddy Peralta- P: Has all the pitches to make it to the bigs and stick in the rotation as long as he keeps that walk rate in check. 5. Luis Ortiz- P: Another guy that has all the pitches to make it to the bigs but hopefully he can have a healthier 2018 and take the next step forward for the organization. 6. Brett Phillips- OF: The defense is there but can he figure out how to make more contact? That will be the question surrounding Phillips as he tries to figure out a way to get to Milwaukee in 2018. 7. Taylor Williams- P: Cannot wait to see what he does for the Brewers this season. He looks like he could end up being a closer-type pitcher and is a great story for anyone that goes through injuries. 8. Lucas Erceg- 3B/IF: Was really excited after they drafted this guy but had a tough 2017. The skills are there and he could be very good defensively. Hopefully a good 2018 season will push the Brewers to start shopping Shaw if they see Erceg as a cheaper replacement. 9. Tristen Lutz- OF: A powerful outfielder that showed a lot of patience last year. He is going to be a fun one to track. Does he have a down year like Erceg did after his entry or does he continue to mash minor league pitching? The talent is there. 10. Trent Grisham- OF: Yeah the power numbers need to get better and hopefully they will but defense and getting on base are two things to be excited about for this young guy. 11. Marcos Diplan- P: Has the stuff to be a late inning bullpen stud. Needs to find the strike zone more often if he’s going to find his way to Milwaukee someday. 12. Corey Ray- OF: The talent is there but will he figure out how to put it together in time for the Brewers? He needs to take a large step forward this year to get back some of his “top prospect” value. 13. Mauricio Dubon- 2B/IF: Defensively he seems like he could start for the Brewers today. Offensively, we need to see a bit more from the guy. Hopefully he has a strong beginning to 2018 as that will help the Brewers decide what to do with their three-headed “monster” at the big league level. 14. Cody Ponce- P: Here is hoping for a healthy 2018 so we can see what Ponce really is. He was fun to follow in 2015 and it will be interesting to see if he can replicate his success in 2018. 15. Troy Stokes- OF: Defense is not quite where it needs to be but it’s hard to argue with how much success he had a season ago. His body type will be played against him but that makes it all the more fun if he has continued success. 16. Jean Carmona- IF: A young switch-hitter that is a middle infielder with pop. Boy that was fun to write. He will be fun to track this upcoming season in which he turns 19. 17. Jacob Nottingham- C: Maybe it is too much of a hope factor but hearing that his defense has greatly improved has really got me excited for his 2018 season. He is another one that could force his way up to Milwaukee with having a breakout season. 18. Mario Feliciano- C: Back to back catchers. Me likey! He was drafted with high hopes and hopefully we’ll see more power out of his bat as he ages but he held his own at A ball in Wisconsin a season ago. Another teenager for the Brewers that has a very high upside. 19. KJ Harrison- C: Oops, I did it again. Another catcher as I completely wet myself (ex-catcher here). KJ had a great introduction last season with the bat but will need to prove himself behind the dish defensively. Reports are the arm is strong but receiving/blocking need considerable work. 20. Jorge Lopez- P: After making the switch to the pen mid season a year ago, I am back on the Lopez train as I believe he can be a very good relieve in Milwaukee. This year will be telling though as he has been on the prospect list for close to a decade. 21. Adrian Houser- P: Another guy that needs a season of health. He has an electric fastball and off-speed pitch that make you believe he will be in the Brewers bullpen if he can keep healthy. 22. Zack Brown- P: Another guy with a lethal 2-pitch combo (Fastball/Curve) that many believe will be in the bullpen but he impressed as a starter a season ago and it will be a big season for him this year to continue to prove rotation worthy. 23. Trey Supak- P: His stuff might not be electric but he knows how to get people out. He will probably begin in A+ but I can see him moving his way up the ladder with having three quality pitches. 24. Phil Bickford- P: You wonder if it is the end of the line for Bickford as a top prospect due to his velocity dip but he’s been too good to not include on this list so here’s to hope. Figure it out, kid. 25. Larry Ernesto- OF: After Lara, it’s hard to get too excited but after you read about this guy being a switch-hitter that has gap power and tons of speed, it is hard not to get excited. Plus that name. That name had to be on my list.
  18. They are adding extra off days in the season this year (why we are starting on a Thursday instead of Monday) so if anything 162 game seasons should be more common. And I have no idea why that would be a bad thing, the star players should play every game if possible. If Prince Fielder could do it no reason a guy like Yelich shouldn't be able to. I am a firm believer that you will get more out of a player, production-wise, in 145-150 games than you would in 162 as long as you have quality players behind them (like we do). For me, it isn't about the iron-man streaks of saying you played 162 games it is the quality of output you get from playing those 162 versus 145-150. If I was a GM of a franchise or manager of a ball club, I would build my teams for this. It will only help players during that season and in the long run of their careers.
  19. Oh, how I've missed this thread. Cannot wait until tomorrow afternoon!
  20. Wonder if it’s speculation or he’s heard something.
