  1. I really hope Stearns isn't looking at ST results as a way to fill in our roster.
  2. I keep seeing this. Maybe Stearns and co. have the same or similar expectations for this team going into this season. I know we added Yelich and Cain but that might not adjust their way of going about business like some may hope around here. Stearns seems to want to gather as much talent as possible and build the depth approach to building a roster.
  3. Good question, I typically use Roster Resource for options remaining and they have him listed as having one option remaining. Thanks. That’s a bummer.
  4. Eye Black, or anyone else, any idea on his options remaining status? Can’t seem to find it anywhere. I mean if he’s out, he could always be in the pen as he’s pitched too good just to be cut.
  5. Should we stick with Guerra over signing Cobb? I mean at least Guerra still throws his splitter.
  6. ...at the right price.
  7. We need to go snag this guy. He’s not going to be in their rotation and deserves to be. He could be a very underrated pitcher for the crew which may very well be the theme of their staff this season.
  8. I would rather we keep Bethancourt, the catcher, as a relief pitcher than Drake. Hell, call up and Indy league team and ask them for a pitcher and I’ll take that over Drake.
  9. Miley. Miley probably pushed Woodruff from that starting five.
  10. If it pushes Miley out of the rotation then absolutely it’s a rotation changer. Woodruff most likely would be the bumped candidate.
  11. Both posts above have four years involved. That’s something I don’t want to see them do and a reason I’m glad Stearns is sticking to his guns. Cobb is pretty good but I’m not sure he’s a rotation changer. Just shift the depth of our staff a bit. And this whole, he got his pitch back thing... when did that happen? Everything I’ve ever seen said he doesn’t throw the split anymore.
  12. I really wish this team had a stud coming in next season. The mix of Happ-Pritzl-Iverson-Trice with Davison-King-Reuters-Ford could be very good in the big ten next year but if we could add someone to mix in as a freshman, this team could be very deep.
  13. Plenty of people have suggested that we just give Cobb what he wants, especially the poster I was responding to. I’m glad we aren’t doing that. Other opportunities will come or maybe Cobb comes down on asking price. Cobb is no ace nor probably TOR so I’m perfectly fine with standing our ground here.
  14. Harrison’s bat just doesn’t do it enough for me.
  15. Noticed you left off Woodruff to the top rotation. No mention of Burnes either. And to answer your question, yeah I am okay with that rotation if it means we didn’t over pay in prospects or money for a long period of time. 2018 isn’t the all in year. There will be other opportunities to add to this staff. Not going off the deep end of Cobb or even worse Lynn don’t work out for us.
  16. Contended a year ago without making that type of a signing. We had some pretty lousy pitchers at the back end and yet we were top 10 in ERA. I’m sure the Brewers front office and owner know what they’d like to spend on a pitcher. If the free agents don’t come down to those markers, we’ll go to battle with what we have and make an adjustment at the break if need be. I’m glad Stearns/Mark A are playing hard ball with these guys. Really not the end of the world going into the season with the pitchers on the roster and we haven’t even got to the cut down days. There might come an arm that helps us there too. You except everyone to have career years again? Who is everyone? Because that certainly didn’t happen last season with all of our pitchers. But I guess it’s no different in hoping for that sort of like you’re hoping that we shovel Cobb a bunch of cash and hope he regains his best pitch.
  17. You would think Stearns has a whole board filled with possible offers to some of these holdout players hoping he can just bolster our depth even that much more than it is. Got to be hard staying patient on it but I am really glad he is. Could pay off for a franchise like the Brewers.

  19. Briggs, the longer your post is, the more biased it gets. Perez? Come on man. He’s not a starter. He can’t get on base 30% of the time. He’s the wrong side of a platoon player and the only thing that saves him is that he’s passable at a bunch of positions. Not good at them. Passable. It’s why Walker makes sense to the Brewers if they don’t believe in Villar. This poster below nailed it in a previous post I see that you didn’t want to respond to because it was just so dead on to show your bias.
  20. It would be interesting to know what they would be willing to give Walker.
  21. Did anyone confirm that they actually did this?
  22. Lol maybe there is collusion after all. Minor league deal is pretty ridiculous if true.
  23. Keeping the depth in the system is another big reason I’m rooting for Miley and Gallardo because we are going to need a lot of pitching and this could help us later in the year.
  24. I read this and I thought for a second you were going to defend that ridiculous “joke”
