  1. I find shoes for $35-$40 that do the job. They all wear out the same.
  2. Seconded. I must be higher on Shaw than most. I think he's going to be a pretty good player. Not a perennial All-star or anything but reliable and a bit above average for his position. I shouldn't have seconded that part. I like Shaw. He's been a great fit in Milwaukee. If he figures out how to be consistent, watch out.
  3. It's funny to me that ESPN has to fire a lot of their people, they see their mistakes, yet continue to spew this crap to their audience. Cover sports. Is is that hard of a concept for them to follow?
  4. I would think they would only do that if they think he'll be out 10 days. Otherwise they have a guy in Thames that is perfectly capable of playing out there and Braun, as we've seen, can still pinch hit. Not sure it makes sense to make that move just to have another guy here for a few days. No room to play them anyways.
  5. Feliz now 8 of 9. Brewers win a series in St. Louis and they did it without their best player, minus one at bat. Crazy.
  6. And to no surprise the walk comes around to score. Give up free bases and that's what you get.
  7. Even before Thornburg got hurt it was PTBNL or $100. That alone should tell you about the quality of the player coming back. It has zero to do with the quality of the player as even the GM of the Sox mentioned that they must place a money value and just came up with $100 as the quantity.
  8. The beat goes on. I don't even know why I tune into the game when they play the Cardinals
  9. Wily should start throwing the splitter as well. Toss that thing to lefties and see if you have some success.
  10. This could happen. Or maybe it won't.
  11. This is where the front office will show their true colors on the rebuild. If Garza is that good into July, there is a pretty chance we are competing for the wild card. It will be interesting to see if they sell off that many pieces come July if they have a chance at snagging one of those two last spots.
  12. Eating $10 mil in salary for a marginal prospect? Doesn't sound like a great business decision. Garza isn't really blocking anyone right now. If he continues to pitch well, there's no complaint about him ever being in our rotation. It is guys like Peralta and Nelson who will eventually block the youth if we continue to accept their below average pitching in our rotation.
  13. [sarcasm]Matt Garza returns home?[/sarcasm]
  14. I think he was giving a shot at getting Franklin on before going to Braun.
  15. Thames seems to be coming back down to reality a bit. Fun while it lasted.
  16. Gotta play your bench at some point. Part of the reason Aguilar and Franklin are not hitting is because of a lack in at bats. Wily is throwing it well tonight!
  17. If anything, you do the opposite and hope he catches fire. You put him against the Bryant's/Rizzo's of the MLB as much as you can and hope he is just lights out until the beginning of July. If he is, you hit the jackpot.
  18. Almost nobody is just a throw in. People use this phrase all the time but there is almost never anything really backing it up. If they had removed Anderson from the Segura trade it probably wouldn't have happened. Same with Shaw since we had an obvious need at 3B. Nelson Cruz wasn't a throw in when he was traded either. Throw in is probably too haphazard a word but I doubt Stearns contacted Boston and specifically said I want Travis Shaw. I'm sure he wanted better prospects but Boston wasn't willing to give them up so he took Shaw to make up the value of the lesser prospect. It's proving to be a great way to do business. You take a shot on a guy like Shaw who obviously has the talent and just needs to put it together and you get a prospect of significance. It can turn out to being a win-win situation because it helps your team presently and can pay dividends in the long run. Not sure if that is the approach of Stearns but its been fun so far.
  19. Neither have had constant playing time so it's pretty hard to come up with a judgement on them but I will point out this. They are both relatively the same age, one plays all positions on the field and the other is a 1B only. And in the minors here is what each slashed over their careers: Aguilar: .271/.348/.454/.802ops Franklin: .280/.357/.448/.805ops So i guess what I'm saying is I wouldn't count Franklin out. He is a fine 24th/25th player on the roster type of guy. Aguilar has no place on this team. He can go back to AAA. He plays one position that is taken by Thames. He needs to be gone and bring up someone or sign someone to come in and give a good at bat off the bench.
  20. I would rather DFA Aguilar than Franklin. Neither can hit, but at least Franklin is versatile. Also only been 2 starts but there should be no hurry to DFA Garza as long as he's pitching well. I am with just about everything but exactly what Adam pointed out. Franklin is good to have on this team right now because he can play all over. There just isn't a spot of Aguilar though. His time is up.
  21. I hate to be the Debbie Downer here but we are not in 1st place. According to every site, we have a .519 winning % while the Cubs are at .520 and still holding down slot #1.

  23. Because people either like to complain or they feel as though these GM's operate like video games. We got really good prospects in just about every trade so far, even including Adam Lind. On top of that, we have pieces on our MLB team that are performing really well that we received in those trades as well. Like I said before... baffled.
