  1. I get your point that you can build around two studs like Braun and Fielder but Arcia & Maverick are not Braun & Fielder. Unfortunately we probably won't have that 1-2 punch at basically the same age ever again. Miss those days.
  2. http://m.jsonline.com/sports/blogs/363750551.html Minor league contract with big league invitation to Spring Training. Will make $1mil if he makes the Brewers roster. Another versatile player for Counsell to possibly use.
  3. At least we recognized the problem. That's the first step in correcting it right?
  4. Exactly. We are throwing as many things against the wall as possible and hoping a bunch stick. This is a great way to go about our situation especially when trying to trade big pieces off the current roster.
  5. Don't you only get so much to spend in that category now? And can't they do both?
  6. Brewers are one of four teams interested. Interesting rebound candidate. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/baltimore-orioles-interested-mat-latos-mlb.html
  7. Yeah this is a good signing for the Cardinals. Dangit.
  8. I don't think Davis has a super high value right now. If he were to begin the year swatting home runs and playing acceptable defense, I think the deadline could be the place to move him for some higher end prospects. As for Braun, much of the same can be said. He needs to again prove his healthiness so that a club can see forking out $13-15 mil/year for him as he ages. Only then will the Brewers get a decent return on him.
  9. Not speaking for him/her but it could be that if he is traded there and has a lot of success then it stings that much more?
  10. This board is awesome for both veteran and rookie posters alike. Just need to all take a breath sometimes and realize everyone here just enjoys baseball and loves the Brewers. Well most everyone.
  11. I still think they'll bring in a veteran like Will Venable on a one year deal. Venable has had great success in Miller Park: .352/.398/.604 and he won't cost a whole lot. Played well at places like STL, PIT, and CIN as well.
  12. Is this really needed? All viewpoints should be welcomed into this board as it is always a good thing to hear from all types of people who bring different ideas/thoughts into the process.
  13. Thanks for that. Didn't understand what all the hoopla was about
  14. .293/.370/.341/.711 is something they should be concerned with? I mean it's not stellar by any means but its not horrid and it's only been 10 games (46 PA). Not sure what player stats those are but they are not Santana. 181/244/217/461 http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=santan002dom is it not the 2015 stat line I am seeing?

  16. The direction is what matters. If the team is getting back towards .500 ball with a ton of young players - this is what I want to see. If they are honestly contending in 2018, then wonderful. I think the realistic expectation is that 2018 is the beginning of the window. 2016 is a nuclear wasteland roster year, 2017 is the beginning of young players entering, 2018 is when everything begins to come together. I agree with most you say on this but honestly if this team is around .500 with young talent and with daylight busting through the seams by 2018 than we have the wrong leadership in place. We might have a roster full of turds this season but there are guys that are not that far away from the majors. A lot of pitchers included in that mix.
  17. If this team isn't competing in 2018, everyone in the organization needs to be fired. What a joke.
  18. I know not many jumped on board with a trade with the Rays but I still think they could be a quality match for what the Brewers can provide to the Rays. Not a huge payroll down there and we have a couple of guys that can help them improve but not break the bank.
  19. And playing bad in the field can also bring down your confidence all together which can affect your bat. Possibly bringing his value down again. It's just not a wise move unless he actually can play there. Far too often people just assume it's an easy position to play so anyone can move there and that's just not true.
  20. Other than CC telling people that it's not an option I don't think you're going to get an explanation. Maybe he doesnt want to make yet another position change? Maybe he's no good there? Who knows. I guess does it really matter? It's just not happening now. (Or maybe ever.) I guess I'd like to know mostly for curiosity's sake, since it would seemingly solve the outfield crowding and 1B opening with one move that also wouldn't cost anything. Plus Braun in the OF will get worse as he ages. With that much sense in the surface, it would be interesting to hear the reason that option won't be done What if he's as terrible at 1B as he was 3B? Now our best hitter on the team also loses value. Also, I don't know if I believe in this "logjam" in the OF like most. Davis is as good as gone when they find a team in the AL that wants a bat. Guys like Santana, Reed, Phillips and the rest haven't proven a lick. Where he needs to be is back in LF where he belongs.

  22. Murphy is going to get money he doesn't deserve. He's a solid starter and nothing more and being 30 already doesn't give us hope that there is even more there. Hard pass.
  23. He actually has a pretty poor OPS at Miller Park .692 (.188/.274/.419 in 47 games which is the second most he's played in a specific park). Obviously small sample size though.
  24. Yeah but he's a liar so we are stuck with him now no matter if he's a good player or not.
  25. What proof do you have of this? Other guys, who are not as good as Braun have been suspended and have came back and found teams with no problems.
