  1. If Shaffer is so good, why wouldn't they just play him at 1B over Loney and not make this trade?
  2. I think it had more to do with contract length than anything.
  3. I think Herrera is a nice stop gap there as well but I also think it would be worth it to give Rivera a chance. He's young and not going to stick at SS with Arcia on the way.
  4. I would've never played baseball then lol. It gets pretty chilly, even in summer months up in Superior, WI. But I do agree to some extent with what you are saying. Baseball should've been completed at least 2 weeks ago. Bring back double header Sunday!
  5. Outscored opponents 55-11, 7th or 8th inning and beyond. (I hope I have those numbers right. Hear it on Mike & Mike this morning)
  6. I'm sure Lohse will be available....
  7. By admitting he might not have been as bad at his job as you thought he was. Personally I was always a Ned supporter. Then again I never thought in-game management, which definitely isn't his strength, was not all that important. I think the fact he lead the team to two consecutive WS appearances and won one supports that belief. You don't luck your way into two consecutive World Series appearances nor is the team so unbelievably talented that it could do so despite him. Exactly this. One thing about baseball people that bothers me is that the majority always feel like there is one right way and the rest are wrong ways to manage a baseball team. It has been proven, over and over, that there are all kinds of managers that win. It can be done. Yes, are having good players more important? You betcha! But this [expletive deleted by moderator] motto of knocking a guy because he has a different philosophy is for the birds. Congrats to Ned and the Royals.
  8. What is done with Scooter? A trade? Because he cannot play anywhere else but 2B. Could he sweeten the pot in the trade?
  9. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/nexen-heroes-to-post-byung-ho-park.html Since it will be posted sooner or later I figured, why not? This guy mashed in Korea. Can he do the same in the MLB? His red flags are being 1B only and he struck out about 25% of the time in Korea.
  10. Royals SS Alcides Escobar ® 2B Ben Zobrist (S) CF Lorenzo Cain ® 1B Eric Hosmer (L) DH Kendrys Morales (S) 3B Mike Moustakas (L) C Salvador Pérez ® LF Alex Gordon (L) RF Alex Ríos ® Brewers SS Arcia ® 2B Scooter (L) RF Ryan Braun ® 1B Adam Lind (L) C Jonathan Lucrow® 3B Free Agent/Trade (L-R-S) LF Davis ® CF Phillips (L) Lineups are almost interchangeable. Put a lights out bullpen and a competent starting rotation around either lineups and they are a good squad.
  11. Seriously, you'd give up a still controllable 30 HR guy and a solid bullpen arm at worst for a soon to be 26 year old who's never appeared in the major leagues and has a .911 career FP at 3B? I wouldn't trade Hernan Perez straight up for Kivlehan. Perez has a much better glove, is younger and has at least shown some ability to hit major league pitching. It's just another example of way undervaluing what the Brewers truly have as players. While I would like to see a different player other than Davis in LF that doesn't mean he's not a good player. Maybe on a team where he is not looked upon to hit anywhere below 6th -7th in the lineup, I'd love him, but when we are counting on him for constant production and his below average OF play just doesn't do it for me. Either way, the trade proposal was very silly and if our current GM does this, he should be fired on the spot.
  12. Cut ties. Get as many good players with high upside as you can and thank Luc for his time as a Brewer. Give him the chance to win somewhere else because it is not happening here for at least a season, if not two or three.
  13. I don't care what the predictions say, the Brewers will not have the worst pitching staff in the MLB next season.
  14. Ned! Back to back World Series appearances. Hopefully this time he'll win one.
  15. From all I've read on this guy, too much for me. He could be a true impact arm for our organization. As much as I'd love to have McMahon on our team, I couldn't part ways with Hader just quite yet.
  16. The real questions is RR going to get his second managers job in LA. I think it'd be a great fit for him. Could set up a World Series with two of our ex-managers facing one another!
  17. Aren't the Rockies a few pitchers away from being an excellent ball team? I mean, their offense (yes, I know where they play) is very good so if they can figure out how to keep runs off the board, they should have a quick turn around. What about flipping them Peralta, Krod and maybe another player for McMahon? Maybe we have to eat some salary but it would be a great get for our organization and would help them rebuild their pitching staff.
  18. I want Ryan McMahon NOW!
  19. That is good to hear numbers are up but A game 5 of Texas vs Toronto drew 4.8 million viewers. Where Sunday night football earlier this year drew 26 million+ on NBC when it was Seattle vs Packers. http://variety.com/2015/tv/news/weekly-ratings-nbc-football-americas-got-talent-1201599794/ That is good to hear the numbers are up, but they could be better on standard tv This was my overall point when creating this thread. Baseball seems to be growing but putting them on second tier channels is not helping that. Get them on your standard TV stations and let people be exposed to exciting, awesome baseball.
  20. I say no to this just because I don't want to watch Ryan Howard for even 1/2 of a season in a Brewers uniform. I would be a better defensive first basemen than that clown and that's not saying much. No way. I'll keep Lind for 1/2 a year and trade him over that.
  21. Unless Grandal was part of the package back. This would excite me. Get back a younger, competent catcher and replace a fading one? A deal the Brewers should be looking to get. Plus it would add a switch hitter to our lineup which gives it some versatility.
  22. Obviously 99% of the crap we throw at the wall on here doesn't stick but I truly believe the Dodgers should WANT us as trading partner this offseason so that they can make that final push over the hump next season while we rebuild. We have players like Braun, Lucory, Peralta, Segura that would drastically change their offense and defense next season. We may have to take on a bad contract in the outcome but we should also be able to get some quality prospects from them as well. The Dodgers NEED to sign Greinke and then make a big push for another pitcher and some offense. Guys like Jimmy Rollins aren't cutting it. I don't know what an exact trade scenario would be and I've seen some other hints at the Dodgers on the board as well but I just know this. We make excellent partners this off season.
  23. Very good points. To tack on. While you can make a greater impact on a team like Boston (Theo) and have that legacy. You can also have a huge impact on a team like the Brewers and become a higher being type person. Whoever the GM happens to be when the Brewers do win a world series, they will be seen as a god around Milwaukee for their remainder of time on this earth and beyond.
  24. One has to wonder if this was a big point on why our coaches were let go. Tough pill to swallow seeing those guys pitch so well for other teams. Happy for them. But tough to swallow.
