  1. yeah, I know that. I was just stating that the fans understood that I had no confidence in the bullpen no matter what the lead these days. Unless Torres starts an inning.
  2. kinda sad. I watched the Bozo Show all the time and even practiced Bozo's GRAND . . . . PRIZE . . . . . GAME!!! in my basement many a rainy day. The cartoons were awesome, too, because it was pretty much the only place that you could see Pink Panther cartoons. In his honor, several years ago I named my desktop the "Bozoputer."
  3. he's going back to AA to work with manager Phillip Wellman. Isn't he the manager with the infamous tirade from last season?
  4. yeah, look at the Pirates. Ugh, talk about some bad luck with some early draft pick pitchers.
  5. I haven't read the whole thread but is there any way, rhyme or reason that the Brewers could acquire Sabathia AND Grady Sizemore? That would be interesting but a heck of a lot we'd have to give up? I know that I read that the Indians could possibly be shopping the young outfielder, although I would think that'd be foolish.
  6. Doyle Alexander HAS to be way up there. Especially since Atlanta landed some prospect named John Smoltz.
  7. thank you, hawing, for the sympathy for those of us that were at the game. For me, this ranks right up there as probably tied for worst time I've ever had in Phoenix. A couple years ago, Turnbow came into the game up a run in the ninth. Luis Gonzalez hit a pinch-homer to tie the game and the very next pitch, Johnny Estrada hit a walk-off. I've only heard Chase Field really loud three times in all the times I've been there. One was game 7 of the '01 World Series. Two was the Turnbow game (which pretty much started his full-blown collapse--I know his bobblehead game REALLY started it, but still . . .). and three was today. Here are some other random thoughts . . . . I already commented on Mota in some other Mota thread so I'm done with that. . . . Braun had his wrist wrapped up yesterday and today so he was not coming into the game at all. . . . I know that he is finally getting a t-shirt (or so I've heard) but Russell Branyan does not currently have a jersey t-shirt, but the D-backs DO have one for Augie Ojeda . . . . . My wife and I have received several comments all series about how well behaved fans we are, especially today. We had to have 10 seperate groups/families give us heartfelt and sincere appreciations for our composure in the ninth inning. It isn't easy to keep your cool in enemy territory. But you could just see the whole thing fold out in slow motion and you just knew it was going to end in a loss. . . . . We got the 5-5 road trip and the Cubs and Cards managed to lose, basically negating last night. . . . The wife and I had fun. That was the bottom line.
  8. I know this doesn't apply in Manny's case, but just for clarity's sake, don't you also lose your rookie status if you are on a team's 25-man roster for X-number of days, regardless of playing time (i.e. IP or AB)? I swear that I read that once.
  9. the thing here is they watched video on Wednesday morning. Then they put him in again in a safe situation. But they pull him too late-ish, in my opinion. Should have pulled him after the first guy reached. Definitely after the 2nd. I publicly declared to all D-Back fans sitting in the bleachers near us that this game was "far from over" as Mota warmed up in the ninth. I got some rolling eyes looks from the fans that remained. After the 3-run double, many of them happily but sincerely told me, "I'm sorry that we doubted you."
  10. this thread is starting to turn into Transaction Rumors thread material. Let's keep the discussion to "Buster Olney says the Brewers are the team to watch in the 2nd half" please.
  11. well, we sat in the club level tonight. Nice view of the action but nothing spectacular that I can't get in the lower deck. Another great game. D-Backs ran themselves out of scoring opportunities many times. It was nice to see the contact play not work for another team for once. The wife and I simultaneously said, "Oh, boy," and rolled our eyes when Weeks was announced as the pinch-hitter. Boy, were we wrong. Cameron did a nice job to get his average over the .220 mark. I never saw Mota warming up at all, but I was at the complete opposite end of the park so it was hard to tell. During the 9th with Torres pitching, nobody got up in the pen, even during the "scary" points of the inning. Back in the bleachers for tomorrow's game and then driving three hours back home. Darn it, all! At least they're going to go 2-2 in the series and 5-5 on the road trip AT WORST! I will definitely take that, although I'd like to see the win against Webb. I won't be surprised if tomorrow's game lasts about 2 hours and change.
  12. I tried to take a picture at the game of Snyder bent over while the ump and Corey Hart were "talking" to give Snyder time. It was going to be the perfect "caption" contest picture. Unfortunately, I didn't get the camera out in time (Snyder started walking around and trying to "shake it off" by the time I was ready.) I guess it's probably a good thing. Get well, Chris.
  13. in related news, people of the planet Earth are reportedly breathing more oxygen than any other gas. Is anybody really shocked by this sausage announcement. I like that they surveyed 600+ people online to come up with this. Sure sounds like an awful small sample size for a nationwide poll.
  14. ah, I guessed I missed the one with Florida. My bad.
  15. Gagne didn't even warm up once. In fact, even when Mota was throwing meatballs, Torres was the only one throwing. In the 9th, Shouse was throwing. If he came in, he'd have had to throw to at least 3 right-handers before facing a lefty! I still can't believe Gagne didn't throw at all in the pen.
  16. I've just got to say . . . . SLINGBOX IS AWESOME! I am literally 200 miles from my home and I am able to watch the Brewer broadcast of tonight's game that I recorded on my Tivo in my computer room. And I'm able to do this all from my hotel room! I don't know how it works, but it works! Great stuff, this technology stuff.
  17. boy, I hope that wasn't me and the wife! I highly doubt it. edit: We had a good time tonight. It was interesting to watch D-Back fans reactions when I'd tell them that there is no way that I'm comfortable with a 7-1 lead. When Mota was in, they finally understood, I think. I sure was glad to FINALLY see Joe Dillon hit career HR #1. I've been waiting for that for a while. JJ's 2nd homer and the Conor Jackson blast were just a bit to our left (one bleacher section over). You can probably see me in my BF.net shirt if you look real close on the replays. Great win! 4-6 road trip at worst, which is all I asked for last week. Now, I can be greedy and see 2 more wins, I hope.
  18. getting ready to head to the park now. the wife and I are going to Jackson's on 3rd for drinks and food before we head in tonight. I'll have my bf.net t-shirt on underneath my Brewer Hawaiian shirt, so come say "hi" if you'd like. At the game we're in section 143 (left-center bleachers) row 11 (that's the front row). Go Brewers!
  19. 3-0 @ Arizona 2-1 vs. Pittsburgh 3-1 vs. Colorado 2-1 vs. Cincinatti (All Star Break) 1-2 @ San Fransisco 2-2 @ St. Louis 3-0 vs. Houston 3-1 vs. Chicago a 19-8 month would be FABULOUS!!! of course, this prediction is sure to go wrong since every July in the Yost era seems to see a complete meltdown into August.
  20. woo-hoo! I got it right! Maybe not the exact series-by-series results, but in the end I came out at 16-10. Nice.
  21. come on, folks! stay on topic, or I'm lockin' this puppy! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. you know, this really doesn't narrow it down at all . . . . good stories though. I think I've read the Driver/Parker story before. You may have posted it once prior.
  23. I also forgot, we had Cappy doing his interview about 10 feet from us. As he and Craig C. were headed to their seats for the interview, we said hi and asked how his elbow felt. He said, "It feels great. Looking forward to working out soon." When the interview was over, we wished him luck and he said thanks and that he appreciates it. His arm was just wrapped in a fresh gauze dressing. It was kind of weird to see. I wouldn't have thought it'd be wrapped so non-chalently.
  24. believe the hype! He WAS raking in BP. He hit a couple OVER the Friday's Front Row Sports Grill in Left field. If you're familiar with Chase Field at all, you know that is a MONSTER shot.
  25. yep, I'll agree with this one. We were at the game and all three hits were broken bat bloopers that managed to fall in. Although, the bloop to right that Corey threw to the plate could have been caught. He always seems to pull up on those instead of going for the catch. I guess he's afraid of it getting by him. But he easily could have got to that one tonight with just a little more hustle. edit: anyway, the wife and I still had a lot of fun. Took over 200 pictures from our seats down by the field. I forgot the cord to upload the pictures onto the laptop at home so I can't upload any until we get home later this week. Gotta dig up that old picture at games thread. We had seat-side food service for the first time ever tonight. It was worth getting the food without getting up but otherwise the menu and the food was kinda disappoining. Prices were fine but the food quality and quantity was not at all what I was expecting, based on what people have said with their experiences at Miller Park. Let's go get 'em tomorrow. First row bleachers in left-center tomorrow night. Probably wearing BF.net t-shirt under my Brewers Hawaiian shirt. I'll have to remember to rip the Hawaiian shirt off on any deep drives to left-center to get free publicity for the site.
