  1. I believe that this is the final year of the exhibition. They are no longer going to do it. As for the road trip, it's no worse than the Brewers going from Milwaukee to Atlanta to Minneapolis to Phoenix in the next week.
  2. I'm not seeing the picture. It says it was deleted.
  3. at first I thought this was about the original Pursue the Pennant board game that had the '82 ALCS game 5 on-field celebration on the cover. I still have mine, by the way. But this game sounds like something some guy made out of his basement. Sounds like a horrible game for adults, although kids with no statistical whereabouts would probably play it. I know this isn't what you're looking for but I thought I'd post this anyway.
  4. with hiking in sandals (no socks) my biggest problem is the inevitable "pebble" that continually gets under your foot every 200 yards or so. I don't drag my feet while I walk but they still get in there. Wouldn't this still be a problem with hiking and wearing crocs? I'd think the dirt and rocks would still get inside the holes and bug the tar out of you every 1/4 mile or so.
  5. This is true, but these players could just as easily do the same thing Rickie Weeks has done in Milwaukee--been a disappointment compared to what we all expected out of him. EDIT: Also, I don't get the "grass" caused the error excuse (I'm assuming Ned or someone spoke of this in the press conference? I turned it off by then.). It's not like they are playing on a high school baseball field pock-marked by rocks and gopher holes like the majority of high school fields that I had to try to play outfield on back in the day. It's a Major League field for crying out loud.
  6. well, the game sounded pretty pro-Brewers on the Branyan HR and Prince near-miss. I'd guess it was something along the lines of a 65-35 split in Milwaukee's favor.
  7. I have a friend who insists they are the most comfortable "sandals" he has and his wife loves them because they're the only "sandal" that doesn't make his feet sweat and, therefore, stink. He swears by them. I haven't bought a pair, however. Even though he tried to sell how good they are to me.
  8. well, with the suckitude put up the last two nights, I'm not sure this team is a Wild Card ready team. They still need one thing to pull it all together. I'm not giving up and I'm not saying that they have no shot, but this Brewers team seriously needs some "glue" to make this team come together as one. I really thought tonight's game was going to be the one that makes them begin to gel, especially the Branyan HR and the Prince near-HR (correct call, by the way). The Brewers just are not playing as a good team right now. They may figure it out here in the next 6 weeks (before the deadline) and they may not. Right now, though, they don't look anything like a Wild Card/playoff caliber team. Thankfully, as someone else pointed out, neither are any of the other teams in the NL.
  9. well, whoever it was that got to go sure did see a whale of a ballgame. Until the 12th.
  10. Today, I finished Halo for the PC. It took me 3 days. Good story, good gameplay, but over-hyped in my opinion. I bet multiplayer is a blast but I don't play games online.
  11. thanks for the link hawing. I got myself and the mrs. hooked up. Hopefully, less junk mail for the next 5 years.
  12. I thought I had posted in this thread back in March of how I thought only about .500 for the Rays. Guess not. I think the Rays are a great story and I really hope they continue to play well--this year and several more. They changed their logo and uniforms and I was all, "ugh, those are ugly. I miss the green." But it seems to have really revitalized the club, eliminating the memories of all those years of losing in those Devil Ray unis. Psychology is an amazing thing. Personally, I really like the new uniforms once I've seen them in action. They look a lot classier than I originally thought. Such nice young arms and good young hitters. If they stay together, they could be an AL East force for the a good 5 year stretch. They might not win anything over the Sox and Yanks and their free-spending ways but they'll be a lot more competitive and fun to watch. That whole division is interesting now. Sox and Yanks spend like mad. Jays spend, too, but not as much. Orioles are rebuilding and trying to go with a youth movement. Rays are moving on up. So much more fun to watch a division when all it's teams are interesting to watch. (yeah, I know the O's stink, but they could be right back up there in a few years again.)
  13. Safeco's roof, I believe, has a roof similar in style to Minute Maid's in that it moves in one piece (Northwest folks, please chime in and correct me if I'm wrong). Chase Field's splits down the middle, like Miller Park's, and folds up on top of each other. The only difference is that it doesn't pivot on a semi-circular track like MP does but rather straight along a line.
  14. Fukudome is a lock to be a starter because of the Japanese voters online from overseas. It's gonna happen! (there you go, Cub fans. Proper use of that phrase.) I definitely think Braun will get selected to the team. Probably not as a starter, which is fine with me, but on the team. I really hope he doesn't participate in any HR derby, though.
  15. how about when you go to drop off bills at the electric company, water company, cable, etc. and you have to wait for somebody in their car who is writing out their check and putting the bills into the envelopes while still in the car? Did they seriously not have enough time at home to write them out ahead of time?
  16. Considering the only way we play the Cubs in the post-season is in the Championship Series, yeah, that'd be pretty sweet. I can't imagine the atmosphere--except that thousands of Brewer fans will be sitting outside Miller Park to allow Cub fans to take their tickets. Sure, it helps them pay their mortgage for a year, but when the team needs you most the bottom line is that you bailed.
  17. My wife and I are going to the entire series. We were going to wear our lime green buckethead shirts from a few years ago. However, our tickets have already been purchased, so no Redhead section. Oh, and, personally, I preferred Grace's name suggestion: The Sutt Hut.
  18. The thing about the Crawford Boxes that bugs me is not the fact that it's 315' down the line, but the fact that it's pretty much a perfectly straight section as it glides out to left-center. Basically, it's 315' down the line, 325'-ish to straight away left, and 335'-ish to left-center before it quickly and abruptly juts out to 390' or whatever. There's just no curve to the LF wall or at least better angling toward left-center. Fenway is 315' (or so) down the LF line but at least their wall angle out to about 390' by the time there is a jut in the wall in deep left-center. And you know, people tend to complain only about left field at Minute Maid. Right field, to me at least, is just a ridiculously short. When a fly ball is hit to right, it almost looks like the the distance from home to the back edge of the infield dirt (over where a 2nd baseman plays) is way longer than the distance from that back edge of the infield dirt to the RF warning track. Like a little league field. From what I understand, a lot of the weird things are in place because of space constraints outside of the ballpark. Basically, I guess they tried to do what old fashioned stadiums did--squeeze it into a couple of existing city blocks without disturbing the surrounding buildings. Don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I've heard.
  19. Advil ++++ Repo Depot
  20. I really don't see this as a "revenge" series for the Astros. When they swept us last month, they seemed very happy. When we swept them in Milwaukee, they seemed to react like, "oh, okay. This figures since we swept 'em at our place," and then they moved on. No bad blood or anything. This was just my observation (sorry, I don't have any statistical evidence of their blood pressure following the game or anything. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif )
  21. Did I hear that Mark Mulder is still having difficulties in his comeback from surgury? Or was it Chris Carpenter? Regardless, for them to lose Wainright is like us losing Gallardo. Although it looks like Adam will be okay and return sometime soon whereas Yo is done for the year. I'm kind of hoping that Mulder and Carpenter don't make it back this year, or at least until September. It doesn't sound good for them so far.
  22. what happened? Did he drink some Derrick Turnbow serum or something? He seemed to be smooth and steady from the start and then BAM! He's walking the ballpark. Even his career minor league numbers didn't indicate this prior to his "meltdown" in mid-May.
  23. my cousin in Minnesota just sent me some video from our college alma mater in Iowa. Flooding is pretty bad there, too. The baseball and softball fields are completely underwater (up to the dugout roofs, so a good 10-ft deep) and the water on the soccer fields comes up nearly to the crossbars on the goals! At times like these, I'm glad that I live in the desert. But we've got our own problems at times, too.
  24. now THAT, bullox, is a GREAT line. Bravo! Sure made me laugh! On a more serious side, that is too bad about the lake and people losing their homes. I could care less about the resorts--they were overpriced to begin with--but anybody that bought land and built a vacation home/primary home on that lake has had their lives completely changed. Gotta wonder if they had flood insurance.
