  1. of course, it sure seems like nearly every time we go with the JV lineup we're good for 7-8 runs. Either way, I'll cheer for them all the same.
  2. good point about the major/minor league forum, but I'm pretty sure this thread is here because many people would like to know about Graff, but not as many people as you'd think visit/read the minor league forum.
  3. yeah, if Volquez does somthing like splitter suggests and wins the Cy Young over guys like Sheets or Dempster or Webb, who are on actual playoff/contender teams, and then I look back at how Sheets did NOT win in 2004 under pretty much the same circumstances, I will then lose even more respect that I have for the voting process in MLB.
  4. I highly doubt this statement is anywhere close to the truth. They're just going with what they stated earlier in not negotiating during the season. Nothing wrong with that. Are they kicking themselves about it? Probably, but they're sticking to their guns and, hopefully, will go hard at it in November.
  5. I know that I'm behind the times a little bit, especially compared to a lot of people in this particular thread, but I watched "The Black Dahlia" and "The Departed" for the first time the last couple of nights. Awesome movies. I loved them both, although the latter was better than the former, but in a different way. My only problem with "The Departed" was that somebody on this message board, back when the movie came out, totally ruined the ending without putting a spoiler alert up. And like a dummy I was back then, I read it anyway since there was no "spoiler alert" put up. Kind of a put a slight damper on the movie knowing what was going to happen at the end.
  6. I said this back in April when we started off with a bunch of one-run wins that hopefully it can help us out in the playoff race and/or playoffs themselves, having experience and success in close games. Yes, a lot of luck is involved in one-run games but the psychology of knowing that you have won them all many times all year will help you out a bit. Maybe not much, but a bit.
  7. already being discussed here, but I'll leave this topic open since it's a different thread title.
  8. boy, that doesn't sound too encouraging, knowing Ben's demeanor with the media at times. I hope I'm wrong. I don't have a problem with not approaching him until the off-season, but you know the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers will likely throw out some flamboyantly extravagant contract out there for him and there's no way the Brewers can even come close to matching it.
  9. Well, this completes my 8th Wedding Anniversary in a very nice way! Good food, Good Brewers game, Good Cubs outcome. Wonder what else is in store?
  10. better than a reporter writing, "Something's Yanking" for a surging New York club.
  11. I'm sure Mark will make a fine, competitive offer. It's kind of up to Sheeter to be open to coming back to Milwaukee again or not. He may be a "Favre" kind of guy in that money isn't all that important but winning is and he'll come back. And, again, he may not. I highly doubt the team will low-ball him with a horrible offer.
  12. The amazing thing to me is how effortless his swing looks, yet he hits these absolute bombs that go way over the fence. I watch Prince swing and it's much more violent and hard, Branyan looks like he's slicing a single and the ball goes 450 feet. yeah, I'm amazed when he hits a "weak" looking fly ball off the bat and it carries all the way to the warning track. Even my wife pointed this out the other day. *CRACK* "Darn it, Branyan broke his bat! That's an easy play in short center . . . .whoa! Maybe not! That thing went all the way out there!" "That's how strong the guy is, dear."
  13. I would be surprised if Clint Hurdle went with Volquez as the starter. A rookie. In the All-Star Game. Over veterans like Sheets and, my personal choice, Webb. I'm sure it HAS happened in the past (rookie pitcher starts the game) but I just don't see it, statistics be darned. Hurdle appears to be an old-school type manager and, I would guess, would skipper the All-Star game in that "old-boys" kind of way. Maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, I'd rather that Sheets does not start the game but rather be 2nd out of the pen, get his inning in and be done.
  14. I'll venture a guess that he settled down pretty well. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  15. I don't get the point of naming your team. Our league has never done it in the 12 years I've been in it. With that said, here's my suggestion: The Dream Team
  16. Cheetos and Mountain Dew delicious AND good for you!
  17. if they go 4-6 on the road trip I'll be ecstatic; especially if all four wins are in Phoenix while I'm there to see them.
  18. The one for AT&T featuring "Jimmy James" that appears on WMLW. "The was an old woman, who live in a SHOE!"
  19. I heard his toe is hyperextended and was extremely puffed up and swollen on Friday. The plan was for him to sit all weekend and see what it's like in Atlanta. I didn't know Garrett Olson was a lefty.
  20. This may be true and, good for them if they do acquire Mark Prior's long lost cousin. Man, I've had Harden on my DMB team for 4 years now and his injuries frustrate beyond belief. I really hope he is truly healthy, but I'm not counting on it. Oh, as an aside, please do not make multiple consecutive posts.
  21. well, yeah, ANYTHING is better than pitching in Pittsburgh!
  22. Although it's unfortunate for him, I like what the coach of the small college did with the catcher. "Then some payback came for Hill, who was planning to walk on at Gordon College in Barnesville, Ga., next season. He got the word from Gordon coach Travis McClanahan, who said, Forget it, we don't want you. I appreciate reading about coaches who do the right thing. Some people will debate that this was a "small-time" crime and that the punishment doesn't fit the crime, but sometimes you've got to just nip things right away or the person could get "brave" and try other things that continually push boundaries.
  23. boy, his bat was really slow on that stuff from Sherrill. You'd think he was watching how much the lefty was struggling with location out there. Bill swung at 2 balls out of the zone. Kapler didn't do much better. All around difficult game to stomach from the get-go.
  24. I got 3 BOC! First time, baby! I also bought one of the 26" LCD HDTVs to replace the analog set that is currently dying in my work room. Hope it works well! Of course, I'll kick myself if a TV is in one of my BOC!
