  1. what is up with Hart on that play? bad jump? lost the ball? assumed Rickie would go out for it? Ramirez got all the way to third and 1/3 of the way toward home? just not a good looking defensive play on a bloop single. It's almost if he's playing on a soggy, wet field with 3 inch deep puddles and he's trying not to get his uniform dirty. (as opposed to his diving catch earlier in the game)
  2. didn't we have a heated discussion about this about 4 weeks ago? let's not go there. Just nippin' it in the bud before it does have to end. As for the 2 million tickets, that is awesome. I think it should be expected, though, since the team is competitive. We're not the Marlins who were a playoff team and still struggled to get 10,000 in the park. I think it's just nice to see people in the stadium. It was really nice the last 2 days to see the park pretty full at first pitch due to the weather outside. The players haven't seen that in quite a while--not even opening day. That's one of my fears--we'll make the World Series and be an "embarrassment" (sort of) because half the crowd is still in the lots tailgating at first pitch. Joe Buck and McCarver will have a field day about it. I don't remember that happening in '82 when I was there, but it's entirely possible, I suppose.
  3. wow, a squeeze with Prince on third. Who'd a thunk that one? You may not agree with the call (I'm still on the fence) but a run is a run.
  4. Corey didn't really slide much along the turf, did he? he dove and then kind of stuck there. Nice catch, though. Lucky he didn't roll his wrist or something.
  5. is everybody at the game? pretty quiet in here today. thru one inning and we're only at post #20 of the IGT? I forgot that Hendrickson played in the NBA. Is this the same guy that was pitching "blind" for the most part the last few seasons?
  6. well, nice job by Carlos to get out of the inning without any other damage. Is the roof open or is that just sunshine through the windows (what I'm guessing)? Hard to tell by the 2 seconds I saw the shot.
  7. OH. MY. GOSH. The game is actually on my Directv system here in AZ. Channel 659. This is a first. And with that Hanley homers. Maybe I don't want to watch.
  8. I'm going to use reverse psychology here and proclaim a Brewers loss, 4-1, with the only 2 hits being Rickie Weeks singles in the 1st and 3rd innings. (Gosh, I hope this works!)
  9. well, they sure were raking in Spring Training, but that is against sub-par competition half of the time. A lot of it is pressing, I think, to hit it hard and hit it well. Against Major League pitching it is sometimes hard to do. I seriously think they need to have some team get-together that has nothing to do with baseball and maybe help become a cohesive unit. So many of them are trying to hit the long ball that they forget some solid situational hitting. And, yes, I agree that only the corners should have been up in that situation in the 10th with Helms up, and then Billy Hall could have made the play to start the 5-4-3 twin killing. JJ would not have been able to turn two, I don't believe, even if he was playing at DP depth. But Mota shouldn't be walking the lead-off man to begin with. Finally, it was quite maddening to see the team not score when they get all those baserunners in consecutive games.
  10. walks, walks, walks. That is all.
  11. I'm here, but I've got to grill out dinner, too. So back-and-forth for me. No beer, either. Trying to get rid of a cough and lose some fat. Water, water, every where for me. I'm sorry to hear about the cruddy weather in Wisconsin today, too. Some of it looks pretty bad. Go Brewers! How about a nice 12-2 pasting?
  12. Denkinger still gets death threats about that play 20+ years later. I remember ESPN did a story about it either last summer or the summer before. Quite chilling, to tell the truth, that there are some people that just can't let it go.
  13. don't mean to be a pain, but perhaps this Ned talk, which is a good talk by the way, could be done in a different thread? Carry on all things related to tonight's game however.
  14. wow. I had not seen nor heard about this. Thanks for posting it. It's amazing how the umpires are rated as being very good but then make serious blunders like that. The only thing I can think of is if he meant to make the safe call and for some reason he made the out call and then apologized to Bobby Cox during their conversation, like he was embarrassed, but it was too late to change the call. I guess he's human and humans make mistakes. At least it was the first inning.
  15. The Brewers FINALLY have a Saturday evening game and it's on WMLW, so I can't see the game on Directv. (yes, I realize that they sometimes put it on their ALT channels, like 658, but I have yet to see it down here in AZ).
  16. This just cracked me up. I know death is never funny (and I give you my sympathies for your loss), but man that was funny. Looking forward to watching Gallardo make his 2nd start. Hopefully, we can hit the lefty and get another win. Go Brewers!
  17. yeah, my cousin worked in Media relations for the DBacks since 97 but moved to Minnesota last summer, so my "comp" ticket route is gone. I'm thinking we'll be splurging for one of the games in the nice seats behind the dugout, and one game up in Friday's (outside table seats). The other 2 games are bargain basement, since we have 3 nights of hotel to pay for. The wife insists on Hampton IAnynn so that's $100 a night, at best, so we have to go on the cheap to at least half of the series. Anybody have a suggestion for which game I should get the Primo seats behind the dugout? Way too early to speculate on pitching matchups. Three night games and a day game, I believe, so television on-camera-ness would be higher for one of the night games, I'd guess? We were on TV a bunch last year for the one game we sat behind the dugout. Any of you AZ people want to get together for a drink before/after one of the games?
  18. I'll apologize for myself and any lack of moderating from my short stint thus far. As I've only been a moderator for a little under 2 weeks, I'm still learning the ropes. And, man, the manual that Brian gives us . . . whew! And I thought War and Peace was a tough, long read.
  19. who is this Gorss guy to which you refer?? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif actually thanks for the update on him, I was kind of curious, myself.
  20. I had thought this was settled or he was acquitted. Guess not.
  21. danzig, I thought the same thing last night, since they pretty much did one answer from Ned (never did hear the question, but I'm assuming is was about Bush) and then they cut away. But I think the reason was because the broadcast was nearing the bottom of the hour (10:30 pm for WI) and the producers may have decided to cut things short so FSN could get on with regular programming. Just a guess, though. Maybe Ned just wasn't very interesting in the win. I kind of wish they'd have players in the media room from time to time to get their opinions from the media, besides Trenni and her questions.
  22. yeah, take away that start in New York and Suppan is dealing this month. Wow. get to watch the game on Gameday again tomorrow (what is UP with all the day games this month?!?!) but then I can watch the game on the Phillies broadcast when I get home (recording it on the tivo). Go Brewers!
  23. we now return you to your regularly schedule low-blood pressure life.
  24. well, whoever called 10+ strikeouts this morning in this thread is the winner thus far! We are just flailing away (when we actually swing) right now. Disappointing to say the least. Well, 2 innings to go and only one run. Hamels has got to be almost done by now.
