    eh, their playing out of their gourds, sure, but it won't last all year. Just look at the standings. There are many last place/under performing teams that will NOT finish that way. New York Yankees--last place in AL East. That won't be where they finish. If they do, I'll eat my hat. No, wait, first I'll celebrate with a parade down Main Street, and THEN I'll eat my hat. Detroit Tigers--last place in AL Central. That won't be where they finish. Just too much talent. Oh, and Kansas City is in that division. Seattle Mariners--last place in AL West. Okay, they probably belong in the cellar but I'd bet you Texas finishes in last at the end of the year. Washington Nationals--last place in NL East. They, too, belong in the cellar. San Diego Padres--last place in the NL West. Eventually, San Francisco is going to take over last place over these guys, right? They've got the worst record in the majors (!) right now, but I can't see them finishing last. Fourth place, yes, but not last. New York Mets/Philadelphia Phillies/Atlanta Braves--the middle of the NL East. These three teams have underachieved thus far and one of them will rise to the top. Bank on it. It's happening all over baseball where teams are playing very poor baseball for the first 7-8 weeks. They will rise again and play ball. Just the same as the over-achievers (Twins, Marlins, Reds, Astros, Cardinals, Athletics) will fall back towards what was expected of them. Now, I know that anything can, and sometimes, will happen, but although I'm worried about the Brewers something has GOT to give sooner or later (at least on offense).

    boy, either I am getting too old or I am WAY out of the music loop, because I think I've heard of only 1 or 2 of those bands. Has Summerfest turned into a place for bands to get exposure instead of mainstream bands performing?

    how did Friday's shindig go? Or was it a wash due to the rainout (sorry for the horrible pun)?

    I believe the wind picked up later in the game and that is why the CF camera was shaking so bad. Those fans that were at Fenway, can you verify this?

    unless the Padres turn things around, Peavy will have no chance to win the Cy Young this year (see 2004 Ben Sheets for more information)

    I guess I could see them winning one in Boston and two in Pittsburgh (I know, I know). I'll guess two in DC so a 5-5 road trip I could find quite exceptable. Will this happen? I can hope so.

    honestly, I understand that he's repetitive at times. But for all those of you "bashing" him, tell me, what should he say? Please, tell me, specifically, WHAT should he be saying instead. I'd say put some game footage up with what he does say and what you think he should say, but that'd be pretty tough, what with Youtube always pulling game footage off their site. I just don't get the bashing since I don't know what else you want him to say. And save me the "he shouldn't say anything" smart remarks.

    I was going to make a quick post during my lunch break about the Brewers stinking up the joint today, but then I took a better look and saw Sheets pitched 6 shutout innings before falling apart. Was it injury? Just laying fat fastballs up for Gary Bennett (and others) to wallop? Looks like he pitched pretty well until then.

    the only thing that I worry about is Ned will try the same type of move when the Brewers visit Chavez Ravine in August and it will backfire big time.

    gamesmanship. pure and simple. I didn't agree with it, but he certainly got into his head and broke his rhythm. Still, no excuse. Our relievers need to be able to get through the ninth inning. Didn't Cleveland lead the AL in blown saves two years ago and it killed their young ballclub's playoff chances?

    I missed the chat room carnage, but the Giants would be insane to trade Lincecum. Unless Sabean was blown out of the water by a deal, that is. Lincecum is their Gallardo. You just don't trade young ace-like pitchers like that. For the Brewers to acquire him, you'd have to offer at least 4 truly legitimate prospects. And I mean TOP notch can't miss guys.

    Sheets would be good, but that wasn't the point of the article. Did you read it? Mark A. (through Adam Mc) were talking about a pitcher for this season. And like the article said, it's MUCH too early to even think about it, what with teams not even close to being sellers yet. Sabathia would be a rental. And, personally, I'm not interested in a rental unless it's a guaranteed playoff berth. Greg Maddux I'd be intrigued about, only to see him work with his brother. But I'm also not sold on him. I'd love to see the A's fall out of contention and we go for Huston Street. BTW, this thread has already started to lean towards "transaction rumors/proposals" territory.

    I'm still not sold on Vero Beach being the "greatest thing ever" for any team moving to Florida. It is so popular for, pretty much, one reason and one reason only--The Los Angeles Dodgers. I really have to think that if some other team moves in to that complex--whether it's the Orioles, Brewers, or whoever--that it will not be as wildly successful and popular as it was with the Dodgers. Most of the people that live in Vero Beach are probably Dodger fans (i.e. retired folks from either Brooklyn or Southern California) and probably will not be as interested in following and adopting another team. I just don't see it happening. edit: I realize that no poster said "greatest thing ever." I'm just paraphrasing things a bit.

    maybe it's fog-proof rec-specs! Although he really needs to get a strap (or tighten the one he has) to keep them on his face. After almost every pitch, he had to re-adjust the things--even on balls that are hit. That can't help with concentration, I would think.

    gotta say, except for a few semi-shaky points on the mound, this has been another very well played game (okay, maybe the CS right before the HR). Very enjoyable.

    it bugs me that Manny Ramirez hasn't hit #500 yet. I'll be kind of upset that the media blitz will be even greater if he sits at #499 entering Friday's game. Of course, if the Brewers win anyways, it's not that big of a deal.

    leaving Gagne at home while the team travels to Boston is terrible for the team. The media would chastise the team for making such a decision, citing something along the lines of being "scared" of returning to Fenway where he just stunk things up last fall. The fans would be worse. Granted, if Gagne isn't there the garbage from the fans wouldn't be as bad (or would it?) as if he were in the ballpark. I think Gagne needs to be there and they need to give him the ball. And then we all need to hope and pray that he does the job.

    The fact that a show is fun for kids but also for adults is one of the best things about the cartoons of my adulthood (1990-present). The kids love the action and slapstick stuff then, when they get older and watch re-runs, can understand and enjoy the cartoons on a whole different level. Scooby Doo, Superfriends, Laff-a-lympics, Smurfs (i.e. cartoons from my youth) just don't have that re-watch-ability that today's shows do. The same thing goes for many of those CGI movies from Pixar, Dreamworks, etc. The movies are fun for the kids AND the adults.

    sweeps, I really can't be upset at anybody with an Eric Stratton avatar, but why slightly condescend my semi-light-hearted look at the Gagne situation? If you're going to talk down to me, then isn't this an indictment against all posters? And if so, then isn't this an indictment against the United States of America? Gentlemen! (hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hummmmmm! Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hummmmmmmmm!)

    so if I wanted to order one on newegg, I'd have to specify my model to see if it will work or could I only buy one from my manufacturer. I figured a USB drive would be fine but how fast/reactive or those?

    $10 says Bush will still make things interesting in the next couple of frames. That just stinks to type that out, being up 6-1.

    I'd like to state that this is probably not a good idea. I've seen it just a few times when someone has posted some claim, it got blown apart, and bans were handed down (or at the very least some strikes). Let's not encourage people to start making outlandish claims without having proof to back it up.
