  1. Hee hee! Now the game will finish at 12:43 am! Hee hee!
  2. Yes, I do believe so, MrTPlush.
  3. Barry Bonds played in only 130 games in 2003 when he won the MVP. Josh Hamilton 133 games in 2010. George Brett only 117 games in 1980. Heck, Mookie Betts only played 136 games last year and won! So, it IS possible that voters could get it right. There is a precedent.
  4. I get what you're saying, but voters won't look at it that way. They will say "he missed the last month of the season" so he didn't eve play a complete season. Bellinger gets it, since his numbers are similar and played the entire season. In fact, he'll now win in an overwhelming margin unless he really tanks at the end of the year. Yup, I agree completely. I was just throwing some alternative thoughts out there. No worries!
  5. The injury stinks, to be sure. But what if this injury carries Yelich to being named MVP again? I think the only scenario I see that happening is if the Brewers LOSE pretty much every game the rest of the way and voters say, "Hmmmm, maybe he WAS really important to that team!" and they put a mark in Yelich's checkbox on the ballot. Yeah, it's unlikely. And I don't want to see the Brewers lose.
  6. I'll be anxiously waiting to hear this story in the Random Thoughts thread or the What's Not Bugging You thread.
  7. Not really shocked that it’s happening, but the timing of it does surprise me. I would have thought he’d have it done in the off-season. Best of luck to him!
  8. I believe it is 7 days of per diem. But that amount is only like $33 a day since the last collective bargaining agreement It used to be a few hundred a day.
  9. Here's my take on this: early in the Turner at bat, Hader through a pitch on the inside corner that was called a ball and you saw Josh take the throw from Grandal and spin away and (probably) curse or something. Kind of like a Pedro Cerrano in Major League telling Joboo to take a hike and he'd do it himself. Next thing you know, the real Josh Hader was back and he was blowing away hitters with the high fastball. I did appreciate that Hader tried using his slider more tonight, almost like Hook and, perhaps, Karsay told him to change things up a little since he's been scuffling lately. This kind of lends a bit of authenticity to my theory of him saying, "Forget you, Joboo, I'll do it myself." (note to fellow posters: I am NOT stating that he really was saying "Forget you, Joboo..." or cursing or anything. But he certainly did appear ticked off at one point before turning it on.)
  10. Well if this one goes much longer they might need to send someone to go wake him up. Funny, I was just talking to my wife about that very thing! I’m positive that I’ve read about that happening in a big league game.
  11. I think we can pretty much guarantee that Chase is sound asleep In his hotel room.
  12. I hate coffee. Believe it or not, and most people do not, I have never tasted coffee, not even one sip. It just seems like an addiction I'd rather avoid. I've seen what it does to people who can't go on another moment in life without it, so I have always stayed away. The importance that people place on getting "their coffee" is kind of sad in so many ways. Huh. I thought that I was the only one! Glad to see another person like me.
  13. Sam Dyson for the Twins today Entered game in 9th with 4-1 lead. 14 pitches. 3 hits. 1 run. a wild pitch that would've scored another run but the ball caromed right back to the catcher. 1 walk Leaves game with the bases loaded Didn't retire a batter.
  14. Welp, I guess it's SOMEBODY, which is exactly what we need at this point.
  15. That was a really good article!
  16. Schoop definitely could have been worse. He could have NOT hit a grand slam of Bumgarner and we end up losing that game. Okay, perhaps that is grasping at straws, but since it was pretty much the only good memory of his Brewers stint . . . .
  17. tomwopat, how does using a CLEAR line for expedited entry help with security. I COMPLETELY understand the expedited part as it is extremely fast and secure. But how does that guarantee that some fan in the CLEAR line doesn't have a weapon or whatever stuffed in their sock? Looking at some websites from stadiums makes it unclear (no pun intended) if you still go through a metal detector or anything. Just looking for clarification. Perhaps I just did not find the proper information from team websites of how this works.
  18. I loved the comment on twitter: "Does this mean cargo shorts aren't allowed?" LOL! I think this is a fine idea, to be honest. I don't get to many games at Miller Park since I'm in Arizona but I think it's a good idea. Personally, it would never affect me as I usually bring nothing in with me to a game except for keys, phone, and wallet. And I usually get in way before first pitch so I'm definitely beating the rush at game-time (which I've never understood, but to each their own.)
  19. I’m about done with this Saladino experiment.
  20. Believe it or not, there ARE things in downtown Phoenix that we are interested in besides the games. My wife is big on museums and such so we'll hit the Children's Museum and the Science Center, for sure. We've stayed in Tempe before--it's not our type of scene.
  21. Just booked a place in Phoenix via Airbnb for this weekend's series with the Dbacks. We chose the location based on the "general area" blob that the Airbnb site shows the property to be within. It is within walking distance of the ballpark and other attractions that we are interested in. So, I book the place. The confirmation message shows a map of downtown Phoenix and the precise location of the property. Every thing is looking good. Then I get the information from the actual property manager. This includes the ACTUAL address, including videos, etc. of the property and how to check in, yada, yada, yada. Of course, the actual address isn't anywhere close to a walking distance. In fact, it's on the OTHER side of the interstate. Very frustrated that everything looks great when you book and then you find out that it's not even resembling the correct location. Ugh.
  22. I was watching a movie and started getting messages from the at bat app telling me about the no-hitter. So when the ninth came on I HAD to turn it on and it was awesome to see. I am very glad that I watched. Mike Trout could barely get through his interview with MLB Network and the girl that was interviewing him barely made it through, as well. I thought it was really awesome. As they said, you just can’t make this stuff up. It was a fairytale ending and I totally could expect to see a movie made out of it.
