  1. I've been kind of disappointed in Robertson after reading about how he was working out with Justin Turner in the off-season and developing his hitting in the same mold as Turner. Instead, he's just been mold. He was a player that I was kind of excited to see what he could do if he was given a chance to play full-time. Instead, Shaw won the job and got all the playing time. Oh, well.
  2. Owbc intimated toward this earlier, but maybe Bradley needs some adjustments like Narvaez did. Perhaps next season will be much better after Bradley is clearly trying to do too much every time up at the plate. He’s not going to be a .300 hitter. But I’d take a .250-.260 second season with the Brewers. Here’s hoping they can fix his holes.
  3. I live near Vegas and a good friend told me that the Raider games are sold out for the next two years. I gotta imagine that is a combination of season ticket holders and ticket companies / scalpers.
  4. I don't have much to add, but Rock is ALWAYS commenting on how he loves walking to and from the stadium across the Clemente Bridge, presumably to and from his hotel. So, there's that!
  5. Couldn’t they just assign a fifth umpire to every game—who is also a part of the home-plate, third base, second base, first base rotation—that goes over to each pitching team’s dugout when a pitcher leaves the field and does the inspection? The game can continue as normal while the inspection occurs and, if there’s anything discovered, the crew chief is called and over. I would think the umpire’s union would be on board with this as it would create at least 15 more major league positions.
  6. His “roll over” to first last night was hit 109.8 mph. He is hitting the ball very hard he’s just not getting the ball in the air. Even his home run the other night had top spin. Keep in mind that I didn't watch the entire game as I was playing cards with friends. But I saw one at bat that was a slow bouncer that the first baseman made an easy play of. (It seem that this "roll over" has been happening often, which is why I mentioned it.) The other one, he also hit on the ground and it got by both the first and second basemen for a hit, which is the at bat that I believe you are referencing. Please forgive me if I am mis-remembering this information.
  7. I’m getting kind of tired of Yelich rolling over the ball and hitting a harmless dribbler to the first baseman. It’s the kind Of swing that a 38-year old on his last legs of his career would have. I’m hopeful, too, that he can at least return to “Marlins” Yelichamd provide some solid play. It looks more like either his knee is still giving him trouble or he’s afraid of re-injury and compensating for that with a rather weak swing with no true attack in it.
  8. Piggybacking on this, won’t hitters have a tough time adjusting to the added distance of the mound being moved back? They’ve trained themselves to get their timing down on fastballs, etc. for years. The added distance of pitches will add to the amount of time the ball gets to the plate and, even though we’re talking fractions of seconds, it’ll still throw off hitters a bunch, wouldn’t it? Maybe I’m overthinking this.
  9. I’ve seen this elsewhere in this thread, with various posters commenting about why we didn’t try to acquire Arenado. The question I have is, how do you know that we DIDN’T? Don’t you think that Stearns did his due diligence and at least called the Rockies and checked in during the off-season? I HAVE to think that he did. Maybe they were close to a deal. Maybe nothing materialized at all. Maybe the price was laughable from the Brewers’ point of view or, worse, from the Rockies. We just don’t know. And we never will. It is nice being an armchair general manager but the real thing is nowhere close to the same experience.
  10. You guys gotta get the masks that pinch up at the bridge of your nose. Well, maybe not anymore thankfully, but that worked like a charm for me. Yup, I have several masks like that. Even those are not perfect. They'll work for a while and then things shift and fog begins again. I WILL agree with the whole "keeping the face warm" thing, as well as wearing them in future winters to try to combat the runny noses and other cold symptoms a bit.
  11. Not I. As a glasses wearer, they would constantly fog up if the mask wasn't set "just right" up against my glasses. Annoying as hell.
  12. I like the rant. It’s well-written and well-thought out. While I don’t agree with the Brewer’s ability to acquire a quality third baseman this off-season (was there one, besides Turner??) I do feel the same about the dealing of hitting talent from the minor leagues. But, at those times, we dealt what we could to acquire players at trade deadline for playoff runs. If we hadn’t dealt Dubon, for instance, would we have made the playoffs without Pomeranz? I don’t really know the answer to that question. I still remember the days when we had tons of hitters in the system and no pitching prospects. We all complained about it, hoping we could develop some true major league pitchers. Now, here we are, a decade later, and the opposite has happened. I’m just glad we have a baseball. I’m glad that we have a team. It’s someone I can watch on a daily basis and be all, “Yay Brewers!!” when they win and, “Darn Brewers!” with disdain, when they lose. But I’m with you. And I feel the frustration.
  13. Yowzers! That’s pretty bad by the umps, specifically Hernandez. It’s been a pretty poor start to the year for umps as a whole. At least when they went to review, the guy in New York changed the call (for once.)
  14. I guess the moral of the story is . . . if you're a pitcher fielding a dribbler up the line, don't bother throwing to first. You're better off just tagging the batter-runner out yourself.
  15. Nice of that graphic to use updated logos for teams.... That graphic is kinda depressing by the way.
  16. I was at that game. I believe it was against the Orioles in May of 2014 or so? One of the few Brewer games I have been able to attend in person in Milwaukee. I think it was the first time I met hawing and Briantheautomator.
  17. Yes, they did. I saw a picture of it. It’s painted on the wall near the press boxes, I believe. Someone who has actually been to the stadium can confirm.

  19. That’s awesome you were able to attend it! Apparently with the Padres getting the no-hitter the Brewers now have the second longest drought without one. Only Cleveland has gone longer without a no-hitter. Without looking, would that be the Len Barker perfect game (1980, I believe)?
  20. Yes it is still included as being a season seat holder. I claimed mine. You should have had an email that had a link to activate the subscription but that came out in early to mid March so I don’t know if you still have it. I would contact your ticket account executive and see what he or she says.

  22. And, yet, he his .393 with many bombs and hard-hit balls during spring training. I know what you mean, though. And, yes, I realize that spring training numbers mean jack squat. But it does show that he can still rake. Or was it only because he was just getting meatballs and 80% from the opposing pitchers? I, honestly, don't know. Yes, this is discouraging. But . . . it's only four games. Something has to happen soon, right?
  23. You kinda gotta think that Haines might be gone quickly if things don’t turn around by May 1st. Isn’t that what the Brewers did in ‘81? Or somewhere around there? (I am NOT referring to Kuehn replacing Rodgers in ‘82)
  24. Which of our announcers is the guilty party that keeps “sniffling” into the microphone???? This has been happening for a couple of seasons now!!! Blow your nose!!!
