  1. You gotta wonder if weather also affected his slow start. Some players just do not play well until it starts to warm up. I'm not saying that this is what happened, but it's a possibility. Regardless, the kid's good!
  2. WOOT!!!! Yeah, baby!!! oh, wait. I didn’t want to be right 😑
  3. I thought trading is done. They got rid of the waiver trade deadline of August 31st a few years ago. Now, if you meant picking up guys that are DFA’d….okay. They could still do that, I believe.
  4. Wiener and Junis? Wow. not really impressed by this deal. Ask me again in two months how I feel.
  5. Hmmm. Head-scratcher.
  6. For some of us, it just didn't happen. We tried and it just didn't happen. 🤷‍♂️ It's not like we planned on it (although some people do.) So, I guess it was the plan that the Man upstairs had for us. And he had us use our lives to inspire and help thousands of children in other ways. Missing out on life? Not a chance.
  7. Outfielders throwing balls to the plate, trying to get them into a bucket like the old Tom Emansky videos? There’s probably a bunch of stuff they could do but throwing and running contests could create injuries, unfortunately. too bad, because an NFL pro bowl type series of contests that are just “fun” could be a big hit for fans
  8. I'm actually curious if you believe these picks are actually daft, or if it was just a misspelling. 🤪
  9. I’m kinda disappointed. He didn’t pitch terribly, but not especially good, either. I thought he was worth keeping around until the trade deadline, at least. oh well.
  10. To allow us to reminisce about "the bombs bursting in air"???? Just a guess.
  11. Is this CC Sabathia 2.0???? 😄 I think it’s a good deal, to be serious. Both teams could potentially win this trade. Civale could be turned around again—plus has another year of contract control—and Barrios could turn out to be somebody decent in a number of years. I like that Arnold was proactive about getting someone now rather than waiting until the deadline. I wonder how long this deal took to put together….days? Weeks???
  12. The schedule looks good, which worries me. I'll say 11-13. Yeah. I know . . . .
  13. Oops. Spoke too soon! 😆
  14. Well, One inning in….this trade was a WIN !!!!!!!! 🤪
  15. Skubal’s dad is the principal in the school that I work. Fun fact for today!
  16. Is it just me? When I see a .259 team batting average leading the league, that really doesn’t sound all that good. Maybe I’m still used to teams from 10-20 years ago hitting .275, though.
  17. Funny that this topic picked up this week. My wife has officially retired from our school district, effective Friday. However, she’s doing a year of the “double dipping” before being done for good at age 55 next May. yesterday, I spent a good amount of time with calculators and my own calculations to see how well we can retire comfortably together when it’s my time to leave the teaching profession (probably in three years.). I was losing some sleep trying to do math in my head regarding insurance and pension incomes, among other things. Thankfully, every calculator (and my own numbers) say that we are right on track and doing well to live comfortably. It sure doesn’t seem like it, though. I never gave a thought to moving overseas, though.
  18. Band of Bothers seems like a great show🤪
  19. I have a friend of mine that thinks I have some traits of autism (I think we probably all do.). Thanks for posting this. I scored a 31, which indicates some autistic traits. Go figure. Some of the questions could have been any of the four choices, depending on the situation or any given day. So, I’m not sure how accurate my score really is. There were some that were definitely agree/disagree answers, but a lot had me pondering which to choose because some circumstances would change my thought on the answer.
  20. My wife and I watched "Argylle" a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. But the whole shoot-out in the colored smoke scene and the skating in oil scene just killed the movie for me. Those were just dumb. And then I saw it was the same director (?) from those "The Kingsmen" movies and it then made complete sense. Still was dumb. Overall, I still liked it, though. Need to watch Masters of the Air this summer. Napoleon is on our radar, too.
  21. A few days late, but does anybody know how to listen to archives of the Brewers radio pre-game shows? On tonight's broadcast, I missed the pregames shows but Uecker and Lane were cracking each other up before and after first pitch because of some comment Ueck made about "Larry Cox." I wanted to hear the rest of the story because it sounded like it might have been pretty funny. I know it's a long shot, but maybe somebody knows something that I don't know.
  22. Was it just me or did it seem like Malik Nabers was high?
  23. We were in Arkansas for the eclipse and it was fantastic. Bucket list item checked off!
  24. Haha, yep! Oh the perils of typing up a post late at night on your phone when one can barely read without their glasses on. 21 it is!!
