  1. MLB TV app on my Roku is bugging me. But only some of the time. My wife and I have decided that all home games we will listen to the radio call while we watch the video feed from Ballys. Since we live in AZ, we can’t just get ok’ Ueck on the radio like normal WI fans. The great thing is that the MLBtv app automatically syncs the audio and video for you and, when it works, it’s glorious. However, starting last season and continuing into this one, the app will crash multiple times during the course of a game. We will be watching the game and listening to Ueck and then WHAMMO! It’s a crash to the home page of the Roku. It does this several times a game. Mind you, when we just watch the video feed with the Ballys audio, it doesn’t crash at all. The “radio crash” happens on both of our Roku players. I’ve checked for updates, but there are none. I’ve done the uninstall/reinstall that people on the internet have suggested with no luck. Even the app support says it’s because my internet connection is not good, which is completely false since every other app we stream does so flawlessly (the wi-fi router is literally ten feet away.) We’ve resorted to playing the Ballys video feed, muting the tv, and playing the radio feed off the mlb app on our phone or iPad. That leads to constant manual syncing as best as I can each half inning. I guess that works but it sure would be nice if the radio crash didn’t occur.
  2. You could take the OP’s post and paste my username in front of it and most everything would apply to my situation, as well. I’ve gone to therapy for about three years now to deal with my anxiety and depression-type issues. It has been a godsend for me. And I, too, would have always been one of those , “I don’t therapy” kind of guys. But if you find the right therapist it can change your life. im still a devout introvert but it look at myself more of an omnivert (or even an extroverted introvert.). If I know you, I can be the life of the party or talk to you about anything. But if I don’t know you, it would be easier for me to have a root canal than to go over and try to talk to you. And sometimes, I just want to be left alone to do my own stuff. I’m glad that mental health, especially in men, is coming more and more into the forefront and, likewise, more and more people and accepting and understanding.
  3. I’ll say 16-11 but wouldn’t be shocked if there’s a rainout in St. Louis
  4. My wife and I have begun looking into this topic in the last year. She hits 30 years next school year. I will in 2026-27. In Arizona, teachers can “double dip” by starting to collect your pension and still go back to work at a slightly reduced year-to-year contract. I’m having a tough time convincing her to “double dip” while I finish up my career, as we could easily bank that extra money to help pay for a good portion of health insurance until Medicare kicks in at age 65(???) or whatever age it ends up being. But she wants out. She is so frustrated with the system and the politics of a low-income school that seems to be more and more focused on test scores while behavior (student and parent) has gone down the toilet. She’s already promised a colleague that she’ll do year 31 because that colleague’s daughter will be in her class. So I keep asking her why not at least do one year of double-dipping, you know? It’s better than nothing! But I’ve kind of given up battling with her over the other couple of years. Past that, I think there’s a very good chance that we’ll just stay here in Arizona. If we somehow won the lottery (big problem: you gotta play to win, and we don’t play) then we would probably buy a place in Wisconsin and do the snow bird thing. But otherwise, my wife is officially done with snow, cold, mosquitoes, humidity, severe storms, and other Wisconsin things. I’m pretty sure I’d be fine with it, but whatever. Happy wife = happy life, right? The extreme heat isn’t that big of a deal, it really isn’t. So that’s not a problem. The mild winters are great and, where we live, we’re good for one or two days each winter that we’ll get snow—although we’ve actually had a couple of snowpacalypse events for our area in the last three years. But it was all gone in a day or two (it was so funny watching the natives try to deal with it!) We’ve got many investments to go along with our pensions so we should be fine with retiring at 55, although I wish the markets were better. Thankfully, we won’t be touching those investments until we’re well in our sixties—at least that’s the plan—so hopefully things will turn around. I AM concerned with social security and whether or not it will exist by the time we’re 67 (or, again, whatever age it changes to) but I don’t want to make it any more political than that. I am thankful that the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger and brighter. I never thought it was going to happen.
  5. I see some Pedro Cerrano in him at the plate. yes, I realize he’s a fictional Major League player
  6. I don't believe it's back yet on Youtubetv. Now that Sunday Ticket has at least some prices, it'd be nice for Youtube TV to get their act together with MLB Network. I'd kinda like the discount on the Sunday Ticket prices. Knowing my luck, they'll resolve things on June 9th, just a couple days after the early bird prices expire.
  7. This isn't MLB news, per say, but I saw this also on Quick Pitch last night and wanted to comment. Yesterday, Miami and Minnesota played a game in Miami with the roof open and their "windows" open. It was beautiful! Probably the best I've ever seen that mausoleum, er I mean stadium. It's too bad that they can't play more games with the roof open down there. Darn Florida rain . . .
  8. I think the article for the games does a really good job of creating a recap for those that did not see the game. And I like the stats, graphs, and video tweets, so I don’t have to look for them myself. At the same time, I don’t know if I, personally, need a recap of the entire game, especially when I can just watch the 20-minute game recap on mlb.tv. But I do see the usefulness of this article.
  9. I saw this yesterday on my twitter feed. While I deplore all things Cardinal, this way actually pretty neat. The guy is certainly one-of-a-kind. I applaud him for wanting to try things out before he retires.
  10. Sports Illustrated, like many print magazines, are basically extinct. What does exist is small articles that point you to go to their digital version, include their daily stuff in their website and, probably, Twitter. i, too, have subscribed since the early 90s and renewed my subscription about a month before they decided to make it a monthly. I had renewed for two years, and was at least happy that they are honoring my purchase for 104 issues, so my subscription doesn’t run out now until 2028 or something like that. Lol
  11. MVP: Christian Yelich CY Young: Brandon Woodruff Rookie of the Year: Garrett Mitchell BA Leader: Sal Frelick HR Leader: Rowdy Tellez ERA Leader: Corbin Burnes SO Leader: Corbin Burnes WAR Leader: Christian Yelich Breakout(s): Frelick, Weimer, Varland, Disappointment(s): Urias, Miley, Contreras (he’ll be fine, but we probably expected more) Bold Prediction (s): Brewers get an All Star starter (not necessarily voted in by the fans) Record: 91-71 Playoffs? Yes, NL Central Champs, beat themselves in NLCS as bats completely disappear
  12. I can’t believe Barstool Sports has been using a “Rage Room” (sponsored by Jack Links) to smash stuff up with a baseball bat on camera. I’m clearly getting too old to understand things anymore. (Of course, half the guys going in to smash stuff look just about my age or a little less.) Ugh. How old are we, really?
  13. So . . . the only way to vote is on Twitter? I don't have a problem with that, per se, but it seems there should be a way to vote here on the site, too. Unless I missed it. Which is entirely conceivable.
  14. I think it would be really funny if Rodgers comes on McAfee's show to make an announcement, and either the Packers or Jets (or both) say, "Screw it" and announce the trade about 15 minutes before Rodger's makes his appearance.
  15. Watching yesterday's Brewer game and a random assortment of other games on MLB Network this week, I have realized what the quicker pace of these games reminds me of. Before I state what it is, I do want to say that I do like the shorter games while hating it at the same time. I will like having extra time to do other stuff instead of sitting there watching a game on television. But I also had zero problem with long, slow games. It's BASEBALL and I Love baseball. Slow games equaled more time watching baseball, which to me was great! But I will appreciate some nights that are not so late (even though I live in Arizona and most games were done around 8:00 pm.) I also think that the quicker games are going to rob us of some stuff on the broadcasts. Stories, anecdotes, interviews . . . they're all going to be minimized because at bats and innings will be over so fast. That's kind of a bummer to me. I think there still will be stories, anecdotes, and interviews but they may be interrupted quite often for station breaks, etc. Okay, here goes. These faster games with the pitch clock remind me of playing baseball video games. If any of you are like me, whenever I would play RBI Baseball, MLB2k, or The Show (or whatever baseball game), I would usually just start chucking pitches in as fast as I could so I could get back up to bat. Pitch counts in video games were never even remotely close to accurate as a result. So, when I watch these spring training games, I almost imagine some giant people with controllers playing the game as fast they can. That's what it feels like, to me.
  16. @SeaBass I appreciate what you said about the show. I have been on the fence about starting the show because I have never played the game, since it was always a console-exclusive (I'm a PC gamer.) Now that the game comes out on PC this month, I have incentive to play the game and then watch the show. However, I am also a CHEAP PC gamer, meaning that I never, ever buy a game full price, always waiting for sales and almost exclusively waiting for those 75% off deals on steam or some other gaming site. So, it'll probably still be months/years before I play the game! 😆
  17. I boldly pick that, for once, the Brewers will not surrender some scrub player's first home run of the season/career in July, August, or September (emphasis on scrub player, not a rookie) that just kills a ballgame for us. It seems the Brewers give these up a lot and cost them a game or two. (I'm pretty sure it happens to every team, but it'd be nice if it didn't happen to us, for once.)
  18. Nice article, but Sexson did not come up with nor play for the Guardians. I think you could have (and should have) put the actual team name in your article. I remember Sexson for his opening night homer at Miller Park (somehow managed a pair of tickets in the nose bleed above the chalet) and his “non home run” that was hit more than halfway up the flagpole in Houston. Heck of a player.
  19. This was the same for "Man vs. Bee" on Netflix. Something like 9 or 10 episodes but each one is only about 15-20 minutes long. Hilarious, if you like Rowan Atkinson humor, that is.
  20. Well, THAT sucks. It was pretty much the defining factor that we'd switch to YouTubeTV for the Sunday Ticket package next year.
  21. And that's why I am choosing not to watch, at least for the time being. Part of what made "Night Court" NIGHT COURT was that it was so silly and politically incorrect. A lot of the stuff that they got away with in the 80s and 90s just won't fly anymore and, thus, (to me) the new show just won't be anywhere close to the same. Did they at least do any kind of tribute to any of the original gang (besides Dan Fielding, obviously, and, I presume, Harry, since the new girl is his daughter (I think?)
  22. My wife and I watched Glass Onion on New Year's Eve. Rather enjoyed it.
  23. I would agree with you on that, Brock. Defensively, he’s still very good. And, clearly, the power is there. But a good batting eye is not. He seems, to me, to have turned into another “all or nothing” hitter, and that’s just something the Brewers don’t need. I wish he would change his hitting style back to what brought him better success at the plate. Patience and a good eye to just take an (more than) occasional walk would be nice, too. Now, if turns out to be some extraordinarily team-friendly deal, I might be okay with it.
