  1. I've been searching for an AL fit and seriously the idea on Salazar is the only one. In no way would I trade him for Duffy and his contract. Whit Merrifield does not remotely close the gap on that trade value. The upside SPs but not proven as much the likes of Clevinger, Aaron Sanchez, Michael Fullmer, or Sean Manaea, I kinda fail to see the impact on them improving the rotation while giving up Santana. I imagine 1 of them will be better than a #3 in the future, but you're kinda looking at #4s at current value. I don't get how you add Yelich, Cain, trade Santana, and these names are the end of your big 24hours? Dylan Bundy from Baltimore? While I think he would fall in to the same category above, you do have that he was the 4th pick in his draft and he improved, you can sell on his upside that he's going to also be better in the next 4 years and last year was a beginning towards that. Really a small market for him to get pitching.
  2. That would add about 50 hits if you give around a .340 BABIP
  3. Well I made mention in rumors that Miami's system is stocked in Pitching, infield outside of 3 b basically 0. You remove your entire starting OF it only made sense to acquire 2 with a 2b/ss vs 1 of each.
  4. Aww man Not Harrison. Ill have a Fancrush on him throughout his career. Diaz made perfect sense. This trade overall makes an even sense personally. With Miami potential to win it overall. Breathe, but Yelich is special. Theyll say 4WAR for 5 years, but im going 5.5 avg next 5 years. Yelich will win a batting title here 1 year just watch. What an Addition to the lineup!
  5. It rotates, and this year it costs the team their 3rd pick, around mid 70s. Another QO sign costs #4
  6. You'd have to think Santana would have to be moved 1st for a SP before Cain would be signed. Got to keep in mind, folks on Yelich are suggesting to take on a Castro contract or even Wei Chen's. Yelich costs more. And in no way can you add these guys without addressing Pitching, which has to be in the form of a FA signing if Santana doesn't bring one back initially. +7 Yelich + 10Castro/Chen (13 for Prado) Adding Cain is 15-17mil. You move a near 70 Mil payroll to 101mil with the ~31mil in these deals. IF you take Chen it's 20mil next year. You're wondering if he's even playing for Milwaukee with his stats after that contract. So you still need a SP. Arrieta is 22.5+ Cobb or Lynn are 14+ You'll have Nelson/Kneble going to arbitration the next season...Villar too if he bounces back BRef has a shocking 45.9mil Arb costs but a lot of these guys won't be on the team that figures on that...Still Just Nelson/Kneble has to add 9-14mil to the Payroll.
  7. I'm pretty sure the opposite. More than likely they will have a clearer path to playing time in Miami than Milwaukee. We aren't talking about guys that are 29 years old and have been in Milwaukee 3 years that are being traded. The young pups just want playing time in the MLB. Plus, no state income tax in Florida, so you move residence and you are going to save $$ on all your home games. Except the residence for South Florida...Take a 3bedroom here for 1k-2 a month or under 200k house purchase becomes 3300-7500 a month or 880k-2million down there. They are young pups so 500k down there is worse than 500k up here and State Taxed. Now, when they are making a million more or higher a year FL will be better. But the expense in Miami and the areas around are insane.
  8. Arcia is every bit as valuable to this team as Yelich would be when traded here. The defensive downgrade after Arcia negates all of the offensive upgrade Yeluch brings over Phillips&Brinson. And then since you still have Brinson/Phillips, yeah what a headache. Besides Shaw, Arcia was the 2nd most consistent batter after the ASB. The kid improves and I don't get why theres this down feeling on his bat in to the future. He's going to become a 5WAR SS. You dont part with that.
  9. Early 90s you say....MC like Custom made for MC Hammer? LOL :O
  10. Santana is a spectacular fit in that lineup and in that park. Not sure there's a match trade-wise, though. Most of the Red Sox best prospects are lower level guys. I guess that helps stack the system, but doesn't provide immediate dividends. Well if we are adding pieces to this immediate team in the Yelich trade, Santana's trade is replenishing some of that loss. Part C then would be signing a FA SP rather than using Santana to get a guy like Salazar or whomever. Kinda interesting to think then that if Boston is one of Martinez' best places to sign and it hasn't happened maybe on the waiting on Santana trade?
  11. Do the Nats have the horses to trade for Yelich, though? Didn't the farm take some significant hits with the Eaton trade and some of their deadline moves? The Dodgers probably do, but they don't have the payroll space to take on much more than Yelich if they want to stay under the luxury tax line. I just keep thinking the Brewers are the best, most likely fit in terms of what Miami might want. Doesn't mean they'll get him, but unless LA is willing to offer up a few of their own big names, I'd be all about getting this thing done with the Crew if I were the Marlins FO. Victor Robles would be a headliner but him it's 1 top 100 and on down. Albeit, one guy that could be #101.
  12. In the MLB prospect comments this was a guys proposal for Yelich And Realmuto: Carter Kieboom, Andrew Stevenson, Erick Fedde, and Juan Soto for Yelich and JT BA new 100 is Soto #56 and no others. lol.
  13. We get it. Everyone on the team is garbage and we should trade all them because they are all going to regress. For the rest of you fine folks with regard to this statement, no....just no. Right, 1 WAR in 750+ MLB plate appearances. I'm just hot taking all over the place. 16% improvement on OPS from age 21 to 22 and now 23 entering this season. Improved Defensive Ratings. Yeah he's completely stalled and will never improve upon the "2.6BWar" value he was last year. This was a legit top 10 prospect in all of baseball, and you are speaking of him like he's a bust. How is your plan going to work again? Lose over and over, get a top 20 prospect out of that and call him a bust after 750+PAs? It's like taking your argument to continue building and then showing off it won't work with top 10 prospects
  14. I don't get why the Marlins would insist on two SPs in trading Yelich, as Pitchers on MLB's '17 for Miami make up 8 of that team's top 10 and Braxton Garrett was 4th! Move down to 17 and it's 12 of top 17. They will have trade away their entire OF in one month and Pitching is not the headline they need trading Yelich. This is why I fear Hiura being the 2nd target, and maybe that the Upped offer over Diaz? MLB's top 30 for Miami in '17 literally has 0 at Catcher, 1st base, and 2nd base! 1 SS in that top 30. 19 of your top 30 prospects are Pitching. Would seem terrible to add the Pitchers and ignore your desperate need of Infielders. Yelich's move would also make Realmuto demand trade. So what are they using at Catcher when that happens? Brinson/Hiura with the likes of Nottingham/Susac/Bandy/KJ Harrison/Mario Feliciano, Gatewood would make more sense. Brinson/Hiura and Dubon with Bandy or Susac? Burnes/Ortiz/Peralta while valuable don't fit Miami's Organization depth.
  15. 0. Arcia is : :this close to being worth Yelich alone straight up. The drop down in SS behind Arcia would make this move very bad when OF is in good shape now. SS would immediately become the worst position on the team.
  16. I do agree that Davies' stats are I believe as good as they'll get, and regression is just a 1/2MPH away. He is young so you count on that velocity to stick around awhile. Davies though is why I say sign Lynn as I think a proven workhorse is what this staff needs and lessens the blow on Woodruff/Davies not excelling, and or Anderson regressing to norm. But essentially reading your posts, you want regression but then sell these guys for prospects. Rather than the team overachieve you want them to underachieve but all the while maintain value for trades. Villar underachieved. Now it's him being non-tendered with another year like '17. That's not getting prospects back for the future. Davies I assume will be in that range should he be closer to 4.15 ERA vs. under 4ERA. I'm rooting for the guys to overachieve as it leaves the net result that a guy like Santana can be traded for say pitching. Had Bandy/Susac done anything well last season we'd certainly be in a state to trade one and not have to sign Vogt as a Backup to Pina, who overachieve expectations. See how that works? If you want the team to be 100loss value or the 70win Steamer/FG projection where Santana is under a 2WAR value, guess how that works when you want to trade our ML guys for prospects? Get higher picks and develop 4-7WAR players to make this plan work? Well Corey Ray was #5 and now He's not even a top 10 Brewers prospect now, much less a guy who's got 4-7WAR Star potential. That's '16. '15 how did the Rangers do with Dillon Tate at #4, nope not a 4-7WAR player. '14 Looked great but Aiken, Kolek, Rodon, Schwarber and Nick Gordon...not 4-7WAR stars. '13 Appel, Stewart, and Frazier not Star players. I can go on and on. The point is, Tanking even to a #1 pick doesn't get you the Stars to build a competitive team around. How is it working for Philly? 4 years of top 10 picks a 5th year happening in June. Entering year 6 of rebuild for them and in BA's latest top 100 they have 5 in it. Stearns with Milw in 2 years has 6 and none were the 1st round selections he's made. Oh and an 86win team vs the 66wins Philly tanked to last season. I've been on the no trade for Archer as I don't think we are a WS team with his addition, and no Yelich alone doesn't move the needle there. But we were just in on the Darvish FA signing, which is the ultimate FA out there, so there's willingness to sign a big FA and there are 3 other SPs out there that helps this team to sign. Adding Yelich to the offense improves it by a lot. It's going to be a winning season(barring injury of course) as players that overachieved last year, also had players who underachieved. Back end of Relievers are in way better shape than going in '17 by a TON. Don't expect to lead Baseball in RP losses mid-way through this '18 season. Something to remember for an 86 win team, the amount of losses by that bullpen.
  17. On the chance that we trade Brinson for pitching or other non-CF asset, Broxton is a guy we probably want to keep around. Although I was disappointed with his 2017 he could still be useful to us in a platoon role with Phillips. Against lefties last year he OPSed .772 last year even in a stinker of a year. The year before, .916. Start him against every lefty and Phillips against every righty. The argument on that is Braun who's putting both Phillips/Broxton out there at least once a week outside that perfect platoon plan. But you're right, it makes valid sense that is a quality RH platoon player we have for CF. I'd argue we may not have seen the best of Broxton. For what he produces, his BA and SO rate gets tagged because he misses such a high percentage of pitches he's correctly swinging at IN the Zone. This isn't he's swinging and missing at pitches well out of the zone. He could be just a minor tweak away from upping his contact pct on those swings, and clearly if he's making contact on the pitches more often he's supposed to swing at, he's striking out a lot less. Now of course he's a guy with great Exit velocity on contact, if he's adjusting a swing to improve on contact, where does that exit velocity turn to? So while his K rate may come down and his BA go higher, the HRs stay stagnant around 15-20 vs jumping up to 30.
  18. Agreed, I would love to add Lynn. Anderson Lynn Davies Chacin Woodruff I just don't think that is a World Series type of rotation, or possibly not even a "make it to the wildcard type of rotation." Without a true TOR type guy, our chances are slim with that exact rotation in place. But now insert Yelich in to the Brewers lineup. I mean, the post-season results from Kershaw and in this year's WS by Darvish show the Aces can be beaten with offenses. Something there is a lot of promise on this Milw team. You're keeping Hader in the bullpen with Kneble. You can't expect much better a duo looking forward or around on Playoff expected teams. Give me that lockdown for 5 more years vs. Trading away top 10 prospects to acquire 1 at the deadline. That rotation is a lot better than what we have rolled with in the Division winning season and the Wild Card season to start the season.
  19. So you fail over the next 3 years and now you're back where you started, except now Yelich is down to two years of control. Sounds great. This 86 win season was the worst thing that could've happened to this franchise. Try looking at the bright side. Gotta understand fail isn't a 3 years of losing, but 3 years without winning the WS. The system is Deep. Way loaded with Talent. In 3 years you can move on from Yelich and you're inserting a Tristan Lutz or Grisham/Ray that are pushing for playing time. Yelich is an MVP vote getting type of player especially away from Miami. Brinson I highly doubt gives us that Once in the next 3 years. I don't expect the cost to be insane as others are saying it'll take to get Yelich. It'll sting but when Yelich is out there posting 5WAR+ seasons it won't.
  20. Wow that took 30mins to catch up. Understand if you get Yelich and 5 years of a kid all in prime aged years, you can trade him should fail over the next 3years and get back quality somewhere. And that's just it, if you're taking on guys like Yelich with multiple years of control, who is clearly a Great player, he holds value to return on this investment in to him. HH's sting pretty much gives me the idea it's 2 top 100 prospects like Brinson and 1 of Burnes,Harrison, or Hiura with filler. Doubling up on OF's I would doubt so I expect Harrison to not go, but Burnes or Hiura. I'm going on Brinson and Hiura as 2b is needed more among Miami's prospect over a SP. And you know what, Dubon and Diaz are still here for 2b and the future. Yelich>Brinson I'm not going to shed a tear on losing Hiura.
  21. I fully expect Brinson to be gone in this trade. But then to add Burnes, I don't agree with. Chris Sale two main trade gets was Yoan Moncada and Michael Kopech. And then that's it the other 2 aren't in their top 15 in the system. Yes Moncada was 1-4 along those lines, but Brinson is top 20. Kopech was a top 100 about to climb but he wasn't top 20 like he is today when that trade happened. I don't agree that we need to send what would be termed A and B prospects with more B prospects. We are so kind to offer 4 players who are expected to make the Majors some at All Star potential. Jose Quintana another, yes a top 10 guy return but then just Dylan Cease around the 60s and 2 nothings. Yet the Suggestion of Brinson (18), Burnes (74) Diaz who I love and a former 60-90 guy who I doubt is below 125 atm. Freddy Peralta who also should be a top 10 guy in the Organization after last season. Pennington is more like it for the 4th player in the trade. We have a great system, 4 guys in our Org top 10 is not needed to get Yelich. That is why it's so painful to these other guys here. Name me trades that took 4 of a team's top 10 organizational rankings. I highly doubt you'll find one. What makes sense to me is obviously Brinson. I'll include Diaz as the expectation is that he is 3rd now in pecking order of 2b. Luis Ortiz as his IP and health has him around 6 or 7 I'd guess in SP additions but the SP expectaton is without doubt there, and Pennington to round out the trade. Maybe instead of Pennington you put up Grisham or even Ray, 1st round selections who've not yet performed. There's Lutz, Erceg, even Ponce and Bickford, the system is so deep! With Potential. Not Reality results that Yelich provides. You gotta assume Santana is moved quickly and he's clearly worth a top 50 guy on his own, or that idea of Kipnis/Salazar. You vastly improve potentially 3 spots on the ML team immensely. Salazar appears to me every bit Archer and maybe better if he went Full seasons. You are putting Broxton/Phillips as your CF with Braun/Yelich. Platoon of Thames/Aguilar. Kipnis. Arcia. Shaw. Pina/Vogt. Yelich easily pushes down Broxton/Thames/Villar in the lineup over last season's mix. It's scary I think should Shaw remain near the batter he was in '17
  22. The way the M is shaped I'd wonder if its not some Hockey team cap.
