  1. Garza's walk away from the team was in 2015, not last season...just an fyi. Considering the numbers, I will concede the idea of picking up his option at the moment. If he gets innings here out of the bullpen that are productive, 5million is still a low price FA BP arm who can start, poorly, from time to time.
  2. I'd hold on to both Thames/Aguilar. It's a cheap, productive 1b option as those numbers above ^ indicate. Being mid-pack for 1b with these guys is really awesome. #1 and 2 at the position are arguable best bats in all of baseball. 2 more are well within top 15 consideration and a new 5th in Bellinger may be jumping in the top 15 conversation. You're not getting these guys, those 5 teams are spoiled for years to come. There are questionable seasons by the likes of Zimmerman, Morrison, Smoak, and even Hosmer that I'd question being followed up on in any of the next 3years. So now you are approaching the top 10 for under 7mil and top 5 not elite 1b. Let's see Thames have an offseason to heal and work on things before just ditching him as a bad 1b. The Travis Shaw part exists if you do move on with someone anew to play 3b. I just find it amazing how people can't be pleased with a result middle of all in baseball. I'm sorry we aren't playing some MLB Show game where you trade for the best players at every position. If we were just 6games worse in the standings approximately what Thames may have been responsible for winning with his April and B2B GWs vs Cincy, are we even discussing this so hard? At this point, I'd guess if we posted Thames numbers before the season for the cost, the majority here would have been happy with them for the 1st year.
  3. Not a top prospect clearly is Corey Ray. May be labeling him worst pick of 2016 draft. Harrison and Gatewood keep chugging along steadily with their big years. Cody Ponce needs more recognition, graduated in to AA, approaching 140 innings. Figure a healthy year next season he's a September call up with AA/AAA experience. I'd put him in the Nelson category of pitcher which has a nice turn out I'd say in a few seasons. We added Hader and Woodruff to the team's rotation, and you are looking at Burnes, Peralta, Ponce, and Ortiz as SPs that could be starting for Milwaukee by September next season or at the least, great bullpen additions. So much real promise in the system, I could care less if an outsider wants to rank Milwaukee outside of 15. Still FAR and AWAY a better system than 2014's with 1st round pick disappointments in the 3 following drafts, tbd on '17s
  4. It's just been brutal to see after the way the O went til the ASB. Counsell hasnt put together regular lineups and Braun has killed consistency with his poor bat this half. Walker, Braun, Santana, Shaw, Arcia, 1b, Pina, Broxton. Set it and forget it. Having the L/R bats this season and implementing the every other order has meant constant change of lineups putting a guy 2slots or more ahead where they should bat
  5. Adding Williams hopefully with great results to add to the current big 3.
  6. Pretty much how I see it going but at 16-12 a late loss to either the Cubs or StL vs the 5-2 you have. I think that puts us to 86wins which I believe was my high hopes prediction to begin the season. September is Braun's month, going to crush all these September callups and hit 9HRs in the month and carry this team....Woodruff!
  7. I saved Woodruff on my fantasy roster and update is him starting Saturday and moving forward as #5 starter.
  8. Miguel Gonzalez is being paid over 5mil by the White Sox for starts, knowing a 4ERA+ was best they were going to get. Garza's option has value to some rebuilding team with hopes to catch some lightening in a bottle. San Fran makes perfect sense on a Garza trade. Philly, the Mets, minnesota, KC, Seattle, Oakland, there's someone willing to waste 5mil at the prospect of him having half a good season or more. Theres value to having Garza keep a rotation spot warm while a top prospect does work in AAA til Super 2 passes, or a TJ pitcher rehabs his final month or so to begin the season to then replace Garza with. In our system, say you gave up a Gilbert Lara type prospect. We know he was believed a high value at 16, now hes getting 1? Vote was it in our top 30. Having a turnaround season like Harrison/Gatewood is still potentially there if that happened whoa, if not you saved 5million/rotation spot from Garza who is deemed here not worthy of.
  9. On topic, you go with Nelson over Anderson. He's improved on his pitchingsince the minors. Clearly works on improving his craft,...which could bold well if you extend one of these two on a guy whos stuff leaves him and has to learn a new way of getting hitters out. Which speaking of Hader and his bb rate. It's his first go at this at this level. Look at Nelsons stats for some seasoning improvements. I would consider the extension to Nelson and keep year to year with Chase. You have an influx of SPs to pull from in the minors coming. Chase would hopefully keep a lot of value with a trade decision after youve agreed to his arb next-'19 offseason when hed approach the 8+mil value. Hader can have some starts to begin 18 and go from there. Putting him back in the bullpen certainly if the wildness fear or 3rd times through the order are bad. What if you could get he and Suter in to a 2-3IP twice a week bullpen work? Pitching staffs just dont gothrough a season healthy yearly...as this year's staff has dealt with. You can say Nelson, Anderson, Davies, Woodruff, and Hader as your 5 for next year, but still need 2 to pull from realistically or take a huge dive when 1 gets hurt.
  10. Oh, I thought he went down earlier this year when Sogard was hot. Sogard will just be waived. No reason to have 3 2b players on the roster with only one having any kind of position flexibility. On another note, by getting Walker, you have the ability to see what a 1yr or 2yr deal may be before the offseason. Get an idea if you went that route to shop Villar immediately when season is over. Villar's value was his bat last year with the SBs. His mental midget errors, baserunning mistakes with this batting avg, make him useless to this team's rebuild. A year of a veteran solid as Walker is, can help keep 2b warm for the 2b prospects
  11. I like the trade. Sogard was finished and Id expect him to be waived. Walker is a consistent bat we could use. And if it were my guess to the prospect return, Id say Clint Coulter fits the mold. Villar can just be sent to the minors. Brewers are still in the Central race, and Walker most certainly improves our 2nd base.
  12. 14 games and counting under 5runs scored in a game. You read that right.
  13. Late innings, 8&9 you have to bunt there. Saying Broxtons k rate makes him bad to do so is ignoring the reason that K rate is high...his long swing, not sticking a bat out there and making any kind of contact. We dont need a big inning, just a friggin' run. The 3rd out would have been a play at the plate, run on contact which if scored left runners at 1st and 3rd and 1 out, or 2outs. If they had scored now our odds are more in favor to add a 2nd run 1out runner on 3rd. Manufacture 1 run at that stage of the game. Before the 7th inning, go ahead bat away.
  14. All I know is Arcia hasnt crashed with the bat since the ASB, and it's sickening seeing him 8/9 getting hits when the rest arent atop the order. Shake up the batting order already its tiring to be so pathetic at scoring runs since the ASB Arcia, Shaw, Santana, Braun, Thames, Pina, 2b, CF.
  15. Let's find out how well Woodruff does in the rotation down the stretch here. Bullpen Ace with Kneble isn't a bad outcome. Hader will probably see some starts in the offseason somewhere to keep the IP higher if they do move on to a SP role. As of now he'd be tough to trust with more than 26starts, unless he was never going over 5IP in his starts.
  16. ESPN Fantasy ridiculously doesn't have Woodruff in their system. I've looked to pick him up the last 3 days. Not even with the first call up did they put him in their system?!! So now, I'm sure someone will pick him up and I'll miss out, because I think he has a great run through the end of the season.
  17. Comparing him to Jamie Moyer, maybe that's what he pitches like. Multiple poor games, with great ones mixed in there. Then again, in this swing and miss era, maybe there's less of those poor games
  18. Ah, wait, are people calling the 5mil option a no-brainer? After his terrible 2015, so many here said his contract was worthless. I kept chiming that 5mil for a SP regardless of his production was going to be valuable to some team. It's was a great contract, and remains one now two years later. I'd expect a dozen or more teams to look at trading for him this offseason. Atlanta if they are signing Bartolo Colon for 12.5mil. Trading some piece in their system for Garza has to be a better option for them. You could easily fit in Villar but then I don't know whom you could ask among their top 10 prospects. So many really outstanding SP prospects, the lowest via MLB of Joey Wentz looking a hard to trade away. They all are performing super. Garza alone, I'd wonder if you ask for Touki Toussaint. Someone that seems more headed to the bullpen but young and with some helium in that role. Guess it all really depends how we finish the season. Woodruff's starts, Suter, and Villar's bat.
  19. Per request inputting the 3 Major Leaguers. 1. Brandon Woodruff-I can't wait to see him pitch in the Majors for this team and it starts tomorrow! 2. Isan Diaz-my previous #1. Remember he's going to bat at 2nd base, everything impresses for that, Diaz/Arcia combo will be awesome! Josh Hader 3. Corbin Burnes- Soon to be a #1 on these lists if he's going to continue posting these numbers Wow! 4. Luis Ortiz- 6'3" multiple pitch arsenal and still young. He doesn't need much improvement to jump off the charts as an easy #2 coming! 5. Monte Harrison- Having a breakout year, he's healthy Think he's the best bat forthcoming among the position prospects He's also a future #1...probably after Burnes graduates Lewis Brinson 6. Cody Ponce- Like Luis Ortiz has multiple pitches, a little behind but a workhorse coming who's improving 7. Freddy Peralta- Posting the numbers, well deserving. Fear the 5'11" height to pause on SP over a RP future. 8. Lucas Erceg- maybe a down year, but so impressive previously at 3b need 9. Jake Gatewood- He may have settled down a little from his amazing start, but considering the huge jump from last year, another offseason what can that bring? Brett Phillips 10. Tristan Lutz- Fast start 18yr old nice size OF, gets the nod above.. 11. Keston Hiura- Here we go a college bat that does perform to the expectations. 21yrs old so notched below. 12. Kodi Medeiros- Higher than most but he's improving and playing, unlike a few higher ranked pitching prospects. There's always nasty late ip RP to fall back on 13. Mauricio Dubon- Could be the 2b solve but really the utility for Milw or in a trade, better 2b prospects so backup SS to Arcia future 14. Jacob Nottingham- Catcher quality, enough future to see a stay in Milw or in a trade at some point 15. Mario Feliciano- Doing well, ranked for a Catcher future like Nottingham if that future changes so will this ranking 16. Trent Clark- former 1st round pick. Some to like, some that's disappointing, wasn't a fan draft day not ranking higher. 17. Troy Stokes- Out performing the previous two 1st round picks. Deserves some love in the rankings 18. Marcos Diplan- Had a great year up to this season, still some numbers to like 19. Phil Bickford- Giving some respect to previous rankings, but when is the last time he took the field? 20. Trey Supak- Some promise given up a lot HRs lately, the other numbers are better 21. Carlos Herrera- Younger version of Freddy Peralta from the Lind trade? Numbers starting to shine 22. Corey Ray- Nearing full removal with his numbers. What a wasted 5th pick, the names we passed on who are shining is numbing. 23. Je'Von Ward- I'm out of players may as well go with someone who's a 12th rd pick this year that is performing up to Ray's standards
  20. 15wins. However many losses that makes. We are improved in the bullpen and seeing Guerra's replacement (woodruff?) And believe they continue pitching well. Hitting? All on the leadoff which should be Arcia now.
  21. The Gray and now Darvish trades reason enough to Milw pulling just soft BP trades. For little impact to system. Glad to see Stearns stayed away and let his troops fight his battles for him. It wasnt the year to compete with the big boys. Dodgers, Nationals, Astros, Cubs, and Yankees.
  22. Nice to see the Cubs gut more of their minors. Next season theyll become the Brewers of 2009 and quickly wonder why they have to go sign guys like Suppan to maybe create a winning team again. Maybe Theo is trying to win 1more WS before moving on to another franchise to try winning a WS. He doesnt need to plan long term anymore.
  23. Maybe Stearns is unwilling to part with Brinson because of Broxtons woes? He'll probably be able to move Broxton this offseason for some piece that helps the ML team or a couple lottery prospects.
  24. Brewers averaged 6.33 runs per game this month prior to ASB. Since: 3.79 including this games 1 run. 3 of the 14 games had 8,9,8 runs scored. w/o them it's 2.45runs in 11games. Swing and a miss team, we knew this kind of offense was going to happen. It's in a 2week stretch currently. Something will shake the lineup to life....I hope.
