  1. You must not know much about the trade deadline. Just so you know almost no trades happen before July...actually there are very little till about July 30th! Even more so major trades are very uncommon early. Almost unheard of a team makes a blockbuster trade early. Now I have no idea what the Brewers will get...it may be dissapointing like you think. BUT just because they haven't made a trade means nothing. No one wants to trade right now. I see 6trades done in the month of June this season. The Brewers have been out of it when June began moreso than any other team. The team has a number of dead contracts they could have worked on moving and instead have just hung on to hoping these players play better to get a c prospect vs a c- prospect while probably shelling out 4-5mil total to play these deadweights. What's a c- prospect or c prospect even worth in money to gamble on? 400k?-650k? How about saving 3-5mil on the month to use in player development/evaluating ? This extra month pretty much determined if you were getting a 400k prospect or a 650k prospect. Slots pays out more money than the odds the Brewers just paid to find 250k more value in a prospect.
  2. You're talking about a streak vs teams I'm guessing to begin the season were ranked 29th&30th as in series the Brewers should win. I wouldn't be concerned at this moment
  3. Whoa this day is tomorrow. Time to find out how big the big market spenders go to make the signing period a joke. I'm guessing at least 1 signs 4 prospects for equal or higher amounts that the Brewers signed Clark for.
  4. Remember when Harang was a prize of a trade rumor about 6-8 weeks in to the season? Forever a 4+Era starter. Yet does Ace stats for 5weeks or so consecutively to be so.
  5. Remember when Harang was a prize of a trade rumor about 6-8 weeks in to the season? Forever a 4+Era starter. Yet does Ace stats for 5weeks or so consecutively to be so.
  6. Are we buying or selling? Aside from Arcia or Medeiros. Don't fathom any team trading a prospect for prospect.
  7. This rumor was before the GM was fired no? 're cj Wilson?hey maybe the idea was the final straw.
  8. Fantasy lists him at 4-6weeks I'm in first handedly in a 2division League. Less than 3-5games separate me from the other division Leader but we're 10+ up on 2nd in that division. I'm trying to acquire Stanton for a Playoff run, offering up Puig+Crawford for Stanton dumping Marcus Semien who Crawford would replace. No decision yet. May consider making that kind of trade acquiring a healthy player to continue running at the Playoffs, vs keeping Stanton because he'd be important for the playoffs, but with his replacement player you lose so many games you end up not making the playoffs making it a moot point. Of course the man who has Stanton in my League is about 23games back or so the loss is most certainly hurting his Playoff chances the slim ones it appears at the moment. Hoping he'll jump to revive the team's chances vs. giving up on the season and keeping Stanton's 2nd rd value he owns him at. (Puig is of 17th rd for me when kept)
  9. Not one trade has happened thus far. I feel like there's initial interest, then that team's scouts return how bad the players must really be so here's the best we'd offer. That offer equals Hanging up on Melvin's end. The fact not one trade has happened yet. I'm highly doubting a single top 100 prospect being shipped to Milwaukee with this team's inability to actually produce of value when teams are considering trading for you. KRod is it and with his contract, again looking at a Michael Blazek type return at best and that's not a top 100 prospect. top 10 of a team's but not top 100 overall.
  10. Looking at Box score, it's just asinine that the Leadoff Segura goes 0-4 and see a total of 9pitches. Sorry failure at your job. Should spend the next series batting 9th behind the pitcher as a deterrent to having 0 patience as the Leadoff batter. Now if he had at least 2 hits, okay then on seeing 9pitches. But to me in 4 PAs as a leadoff you have to have at least 1 AB last 5pitches if not 6. And if you swing at the first pitch it should be a hit or a line drive that turned in to an out.
  11. While some of you may be hating this start for Garza at Pitcher's Hell, I'm looking at it, as his chance to add immense value, versus losing value. His recent stretch and say a 7IP 1-2ER outing vs a Sunday lineup would be a great selling point of value. If he goes 4ip 6ERs...okay what value has he lost? He's supposedly not very high with one as it stands.
  12. Yep. I'm surprised the Pirates haven't actually tried moving him to an AL team to be a DH.
  13. Fangraphs pitching has Chacin going from a high of 91.1 to 88.0 in FB. He's always been a poor locator almost 4bb/9. So this isn't the type of guy that when he's losing velocity, he can "Pitch" to compensate. Already he was behind in FB velocity of being average to now below average w/o location. It's a pass. The guy has already been reclaimed twice this year and obviously they don't see anything left to make him a ML player again.
  14. Agree with Danzig. Hoffman to me has to be untouchable considering what he was thought of prior to the TJ and gotten by the Jays only because of it. But Norris/Pentecost + seems like a start. If KRod is part of the deal, would look to add Foley for sure too. I'd check in on Richard Urena too. For a guy who is listed as having power similar to Sardinas...he has 11HRs already this season. He's 19. Would give me the impression that he's got some high potential.
  15. Monty said: I don't believe Segura, Braun, Lind, K-Rod or Lucroy are going anywhere, and the only way Gomez gets traded is if they can't shed salary in one of the aforementioned salary dump trades. They'll extend Lucroy, who won't be very good as he gets into his 30's, and they'll trade Gomez at next year's trade deadline, when his value will be significantly less, as the receiving team will only get half a year with no chance at making a QO. I also wouldn't doubt that Arcia will get traded at some point as he'll be stuck in AAA with Segura and Sardinas in Milwaukee. I'm sure he could net two years of a proven vet who will help the team climb above .500 for a season. That's like the Brewers since the Jungmann/Bradley debacle of a draft always being tied to the worst of College Pitchers in their minds as the next Brewers 1st rd draft pick. You're expecting the worst idea because you dont respect anyone making the decisions. Arcia was ranked 20th in (Badler's?) prospect update. He's likely going to climb more. Easily the best prospect the Brewers have had ranking in a long while. I think the team will be deciding between Sardinas or Segura to keep and trade the other one. I'd prefer Segura due to what I think he can get in trade and he's older/pricier. Sardinas has a lot of time to grow/mature become better and increase his trade value. It'd have to be a trade of someone with a better ceiling than Sardinas to trade him. There is no way Arcia is going to be traded, if he is, I'm done with the team as a fan. I'd consider kicking Melvin in the balls and throwing an elbow to his face to show my displeasure and say thanks for making me a non-fan of this team. It's ridiculous that you have this job, because I'd have done a better job than you have given the resources you have. It's embarrassing to me to have grown as a fan in knowledge in the past 4years and you've absolutely not in ability as a GM for how long now?
  16. Do we have a Brett Lawrie/Trevor Bauer maybe on our hands in Toussaint? It'll probably come out eventually if so. Touki from the videos I watched last year, scared me of location in pitches. He also gave me the attitude of not really being all that interested while on the mound. The DBacks' cash savings and maybe their scouts opinion of him could make them huge winners in this trade. Will Atlanta now just dump Arroyo like they did other contracts? Or keep him and play him when he's healthy? This will just have to go in the TBD department.
  17. I really wish it were true Tabata was let go by the team. That's what should happen in my opinion. This to me is worse than the wrong call at 1b costing a perfect game a few years back. Or was that a No-hitter? That pitch wasn't hitting Tabata ever! Nevermind if Tabata actually moved out of the way of the incoming pitch. But no, this goat, proceeded to spike his elbow down in to the ball to get hit. When I seen it live, I thought the catcher didn't catch the ball, because it was nowhere near hitting Tabata watching the pitch happen. Then the umps arms went up and I said to myself, he's rewarding him a base for that? Did that hit him? Please show me a replay! After about 2 agonizing minutes the tv finally does...and yep Tabata threw his elbow in to the ball. I think Scherzer should be allowed to throw a pitch and Tabata being punished is forced to throw his Face in to it as punishment. It was the last out of a perfect game. That Ump btw, should also be suspended w/o pay for the next week. If MLB has instant replays, they should very easily be able to hand out these punishments upon Replay. Tabata sickens me so. It's one thing to not move out of the way and get hit being rather poor in doing so. Its another to not move out of the way of a pitch that wasn't going to hit you, and then make sure it does.
  18. the draft being too long to begin with, may as well waste your pick on those players who won't sign at all, vs taking someone who may take that 10k offer you have no dreams of ever getting through A ball. Plus, you also stop any other team from drafting them and maybe getting a flash in the pan heroic signing because they found out that he'd only consider the lower deal if he was selected by their favorite team potentially living the dream of playing for them. At least enjoying Spring Training with them.
  19. I like the idea of a minimum signing to the slot. But so long as medicals are reviewed prior because of the Aiken situation last year. The minimum offered to retain a draft pick for next season I'd think requires the medicals to be known. 80-90% would then become the lowest offer on a kid who's damaged goods when you get to see the medicals as it is today, and suddenly the draft pick signs that in reality as a franchise you don't want signed for that amount at all. I'd make the slot money amounts go 15rounds vs 10. And then have a draft last 25rounds total. 25man rosters, 25 rounds. The problem with say having team rights is that if the kid didn't sign at the offer, how do the teams get rewarded a draft pick the following season? So maybe having the 3 round draft pick being an automatic sign is the way to go with the kid being that team's property, no draft pick compensation with a HS kid deciding to go to college or the College kids returning for another year. They're that team's property and maybe an arbitrator comes in on what the team is forced to sign him for when he's done at college. Could be less, could be more. If the kid goes to college maybe it's 85% is taken away from that pool but 15% still remains for draft picks remaining? The rounds after the 3rd, teams don't get comped if they don't sign their selections. Again, 85% of their pool is lost but 15% can remain to sign draft picks lower...or above I guess for that matter. There should be the minimum pool offer on the table of 70% of slot after the 3rd round. Taking away the college senior signs since teams would no longer lose all their pool allotment if a pick didn't sign. Since day 1 of drafting is through the 2nd round, you instead make it through the 3rd round for television. As the team's selections for those 3 rounds are their property regardless what happens signed or not. I am also a fan of raising a minor league salary. If you're reducing the draft by 15rounds(10k minimum signing) you're looking at 150k right there up to 1.5million if all signed at 100k. I'd consider it for promotions. If a kid went to A ball from Rookie ball he got 10k. to A+ball he got 17,500. To AA he got 30k. to AAA he got 60k. If the kid went from AA to the Majors he'd still get the 60k immediately on top of his new ML contract. Or the Rookie ball kid who jumped to A+ or AA. He'd get the bonuses for the leagues he was promoted over. This wouldn't apply to the kids drafted in the first 3rounds. Only the kids drafted after the 3rd round. Something along those lines would be my ideas put in the thought process. Edit add: Maybe if you're a team who drafts a player w/o that seeing a medicals and upon seeing them don't sign the kid. You are actually given a FA pick of the other non-signees from that draft immediately following the end of the signing period. So say for instance the Dylan Covey situation happened again. You'd have the opportunity to pick any kid who wasn't drafted the first 3rounds and didn't sign with the team that selected them. Maybe you can lure them away in to signing instead based on what you're able to offer that the team that selected them couldn't?
  20. I made this mention in the Open for Business thread but how about offering Fiers for their International signee of last season? Franklin Perez. I'm sure they can find another prospect of the Astros to get as well but with that avg ML future projection vs any significant prospect. You pick up the lottery ticket in Perez who reads as having a projected Plus FB&Curveball in his future with a developing Changeup. He's 6'1" at the moment so 6' 2-4" is a strong possibility and the perfect SP heights in my opinion.
  21. Agreed on Wheeler. I think his ceiling was never so much a TOR type as he was going to be a solid #3. Braun to me requires a Syndergaard or Matz headliner or there are no trade offers worth the while. Mets fans/bloggers have it figured out they will field a Rotation of Harvey, Degrom, Syndergaard, Matz, and Wheeler so any other SP prospect is worth offering in trade. The Mets are like the Cubs in the near future. Just on opposite equations. Why don't these teams get it over with already and trade Syndergaard for Russell? Since Matz's hype is he has more upside than Syndergaard suddenly? And the Mets need their franchise SS bat. With the Wright news, ARam would seem a mute trade piece to them. Mets are just going to sit on their SP 5 of the future and suck at batting going forward. Maybe Wright's bat with TDA's bat addition again will be enough Offense under that Rotation. Wright is likely making the team hold back on making an offensive upgrade trade until he's seen action again. He'll for sure see games in rehab in the minors before the AS break and during to give them an idea, and at which point they can make a decision if they need to make a move or not. Gomez/Braun have become the most likely trade candidates for the Mets to pick up suddenly over Segura/ARam. And they aren't all that likely even a consideration under the costs.
  22. Garza has allowed just 2ERs in his last 18IP. I wouldn't count him out as having no value. He may have figured something out finally and puts a string of quality starts together. Lohse is obviously done. It's too late for him to try to change his value. He has 1 truly quality start in his last 10outings. 6 where he's given up 4runs or more. Dillon Gee was just waived and not looking like he's getting picked up which he has an equal statline to Lohse but is paid less than half as much. I wouldn't trade Lucroy at the moment. His stats are down that he's slowly picking up, but I'm thinking he's not netting as much a return as he would have prior to that start of the season. I'd keep him and consider trading him in the offseason, he shows off that doubles hitting ability again as the season wears on, there's no doubt somebody will part with a huge package for him. His contract makes him available to all 29 other franchises. Segura is who Milw needs to push trading as well as Parra. That's about where it stands. Gomez, you just keep the phone lines open waiting for that epic trade offer. No need to trade him prior to the end of the season unless that happens. Gotta look at it as this. This is going to be a sellers market. Milw, Philly, Oakland, and Boston are the only teams more than 6.5games out of the wildcard spot. Miami happens to be one of the teams 6.5games back and July 2nd they are getting the best player back nobody can get in trade in Jose Fernandez. That is likely +5wins there for that team over who's pitching in his place right there the rest of the season. I'd expect Cincy to join in the sellers but after them there aren't any sellers to look at. The Sox both are more bound to winning than selling this year. They are behind expectations and both divisions aren't the strongest. Oakland has a bulldog w/l mentality. They're not out of it til it really looks bleak, and that division as well isn't filled with the best of pitching staffs. As the Blue Jays just did an 11game winning streak, Oakland certainly can with their staff vs the right opponents and obviously they are right back near the top of their division when they do. That's only 3 teams to me that are selling and 27teams that are contemplating buying. Garza is going to be a trade target under that circumstance for sure. Lind ought to be a decent trade target as he's going to be a DH thought as well. I expect better returns for Parra and Lind than what Milw gave up for them since that reason. KRod too will be a trade idea for many teams. Segura is 11th currently for all MLB SS in OPS with 145ABs or more. That's a lot of franchises that stand to improve at that position, for some years to come. Those are the 4 I expect decent trades coming up soon before the deadline. Gomez or Lucroy would be Blockbuster deals that I feel are more likely in the offseason. Braun would be that way as well, and I just don't feel he's a trade chip to let go for the franchise. I'd like the team to push Fiers as a trade candidate. But I'm sure like me, with most teams, he's gotta be questioned on his ability come Sept and beyond. I'd think he'd be ready for Dead Arm at any start. But there in lies why I'd try to trade him. Maybe a team makes the mistake of thinking he's a solid #4 with #3 potential for a playoff push/starts if it gets there on the cheap. To me Fiers is the perfect SP candidate to nab the Marcos Diplan type prospect. Looking at MLB's top 30 international signs of last year: Houston picked up a guy named Franklin Perez #21, Minnesota got a kid named Huascar Ynoa #17 younger brother to Michael Ynoa, Blue Jays got a kid named Juan Meza #11, Boston a kid named Anderson Espinoza #10 another named Christopher Acosta #6 All those teams could use a SP like Fiers potentially to be their #4 with #2/3 upside in his runs of great starts. He's dirt cheap with team control through 2020. Give up your #3/4 for a lottery ticket of a TOR but years away SP. I could think of a Drew Hutchinson+Juan Meza for Mike Fiers trade. And Milw could find an NL worthy type of pitcher in Hutchinson vs facing the AL to be a solid addition for the back end of their rotation. That'd be my conversations on offering up Fiers.
  23. See the Blogger and about every single non Brewer fan believes that Braun's Salary will be 20mil starting next season. And not the actual 16mil it will be. So they come up with these payroll ideas to get him to 14-15mil in pay by saying Brewers take Granderson or Cuddyer plus Niese to offset the massive pay of Braun's. What Braun's extension should really read is as: 15years-95mil and not 5years 95mil. I highly doubt a QO player will be below 16mil this next offseason. Braun isn't being paid as much as a QO will cost a team. And it will only get higher. Based on what Braun's done this year, you can 100% bet the Brewers and all teams would give him a QO after 2015. And you can probably plan that he would have gotten a 4yr 72-80mil deal. So I just don't get how he's not worth his contract, it has to be because of the PEDs drama in most people's minds. But a GM? Who's staring at a .260+ 30+HR and 100+RBI FA? Yeah 18-20mil in FA dollars for 4 years isn't going to be an obstacle. I just love how the Mets Homers expect to dump their worthless junk on the team to acquire what is the Brewers 3rd best trade piece and only because Gomez/Lucroy are on such cheap deals while prime year aged.
  24. Is that the first 2game winning streak at home and series win of the season? Nope having checked they beat the Cubs in a series at home and had their longest winning streak of 3 games with a followup win of the White Sox.
