  1. I did too, but Like Hunter Morris, who I left out, I did so due to Age. We're looking at a prospect entering his age 27season for next year. I think I cut out "Prospect" and put AAAA label on a prospect who's not established a 25man roster spot at the Big League level at that point.
  2. See, he signed a 3year 36mil contract. 6/10/16=32mil. So I believe that article is correct in that ARam receives the 4mil regardless thus making the 3/36 true. Otherwise the Brewers received 3years of ARam at 32mil cost. I dunno though, it's fairly odd to owe ARam 4mil if He declines vs. Milw's side. Especially since my previous post paints the picture that ARam HAS to decline since he'll make more money regardless if true. I honestly think what will happen is both sides say yes to the option. At ARam's age and Missed Games history, I don't see him making 14mil+ going to FA. Even with the Weak 3b FA market. I see 14mil as his peak price with 8-12.5mil being more realistic. Let's be honest, he's at a stage where unless he's in the AL in the DH spot for games he's likely can only be counted on for 125games in a Season. Leaving near 40games for someone else to cover 3b for him.
  3. MLBTR had a Writeup about ARam and his mutual option for next season. From the way it was written. ARam will not be a Brewer next season @14mil cost because, He's going to Opt out on his end and the Brewers still owe him the 4mil regardless? Apparently LOL If the Brewers extend a QO which is in the 15mil+range(Already above what he's to get if option is picked up) Now we're talking 4mil+15-point some mil to pay ARam to play 3b next season. He'll accept the QO 1000% Honestly, no team in their right frame of mind is going to sign ARam to 15mil plus lose their 1st rd pick. His Health is high risk of DL stints. He's just not worth 15mil+. So, The Brewers are about to watch ARam walk after the season and he'll do so with no QO so we get nothing in return for his departure..... As I understand that writeup. What I figure ARam's value to be would be 2/24mil. (Keep in mind he's being paid 4mil by Milw regardless) It makes zero sense for any team to give him a 3yr deal. Maybe 2/30 max.
  4. My list: 1-Orlando Arcia 2- Tyrone Taylor 3-Gilbert Lara 4-Monte Harrison 5-Kodi Medeiros 6-Clint Coulter 7-Tyler Wagner 8-Taylor Jungmann 9-Taylor Williams 10-Jacob Gatewood 11-Michael Reed 12-Devin Williams 13-Ariel Pena 14-Nicolas Pierre 15-Victor Roache 16-Wei Chung Wang 17-Jorge Lopez 18-David Denson 19-David Goforth 20-Johel Atencio 21-Franly Mallen 22-Brandon Diaz 23-Jed Bradley 24-Yadiel Rivera 25-Michael Blazek
  5. Yes. Get rid of the HR Derby and bring back the HR 1 vs. 1 of yesteryear I've seen on ESPN Classics. It'd fall in the category of if Nelson Cruz was in a Series one month vs. the White Sox and Jose Abreau. It'd happen in that Ballpark. Pregame of Game 1. In the NL today it'd be when Stanton played the Cubs and Anthony Rizzo. 9ip HR Derby. It would only happen when 2 top 5 HR hitters at the time in Season were facing eachother. Mike Trout vs. Chris Carter. Who knows anything about Chris Carter? That he's even in the top 5 in all of MLB in HRs? We know all about Mike Trout, but Baseball is then exposing people who like the HR derby part of Baseball to Chris Carter.
  6. I'm really getting annoyed with this team. I mean seriously, 20-7 to begin the season and here we sit 94 games later and rather than improve on our 13games ahead of .500...We've lost 2 games and sit 11games above .500. The Cubs in the same span have only lost 6more games than the Brewers in 94games. For Crying out loud! Get Hott! Win 15 of 20 and propel yourselves to 20+games above .500. The Pitching has been FANTASTIC for this team not to get on hott streaks of Ws. But We continue to provide them with under 4runs of run support Over and Over. We are 20-25 in the last 45 games and the Pitching Staff has held the opponents to 4runs or less in 19 of those games where the winning team scored 4runs or less. We're 7-12 in those games. 3-7 in the games the winning team scored 3runs or less. With our offense we should be on the opposite end 7-3 in that outcome not the other way around.
  7. New MLB Commissioner 1. I'd allow Draft Pick Trades all around up until 15min. of the 1st selection. (Also, Shorten the Draft to 25rounds) 2. Have a Random Drawing to Retract 2 of these 4 Teams: Miami, Seattle, Tampa Bay, and Cleveland. Worst fan-base Attendance continually. The two "Winning" owners move their teams to two new cities. 3. Harsher Punishments for fighting/Beaning/charging the mound. Essentially the Players go on the 15day DL(UnPaid) Automatically no reduction. It's 15days. 4. Contracts are changed where there's a Guaranteed amount and an Amount non-guaranteed if a team Waives a Player (due to not performing to the payment of their contract) 5. End Super 2 Status. There's a 3year Rookie Payment when Minor League Players graduate to the Major League Team. 1st year is 550k. 2nd year is 850k. 3rd year is 1.5mil. Then a Player has 3years of Arb. If a Rookie is waived and not claimed in his 1st 3years he becomes a FA free to sign his own Contract(Basically, he's not worth 850k or 1.5mil to any 1 team) There is no limit to who you send down to your Minors. If they are on your 40man they can be sent down even 10year vets who are wasting ML Roster Space. Due to this "Fluidity" among your 40man the 25man roster remains all season long to teams .500 and above. If you're below .500 in Sept. you can have a 30man Roster to See Future Prospects. If a Prospect is called up after the All-Star Break his Rookie Service time doesn't start but he's paid the 550k. His 3year Rookie Clock does begin though immediately the next following year to begin the season, regardless if on the ML roster or not. (Encourages teams to play their Rookies and not be concerned about when to start their clock)
  8. You're right that is better than what Segura has done this year. The difference is Segura did that against major league pitching, Scooter's numbers came against minor league pitching. That's a pretty big distinction. His current major league OPS against lefties is 307 in an admittedly small sample. I'd hope he can get better because it would be hard to get much worse. Very best case scenario he could maybe match his minor league numbers against lefties at some point down the road in the majors. I'd rather just platoon him myself and take the better production. It works this season. But I will be very Annoyed(not strong enough but won't post more vulgar) if we get a RHB that only plays 2b next season to Platoon with Scooter. If we find a capable Utility INF that can approach anywhere close to above .700OPS vs. LHP next season fine. But to just send them up there to maybe approach .700OPS, is a friggin waste of a Roster spot if they only play 2b. Just let Scooter OPS .600s vs them, he offers so much more value seeing more ABs vs. RHP anyway. It's really not acceptable to me that they waste 2 roster spots to play 2b. The only reason is due to the 12mil they owe towards Weeks. Weeks isn't "Pounding" LHP for his part vs. LHP. He's walking a thin line on what's acceptable for his part of the platoon and what's not. And as is, when he's barely covering his part of the Platoon with the Bat while offering the worse end defensively, Just use Scooter full-time. Use the OPS numbers of Weeks but ignore his Defensive inability while providing those numbers. If Scooter is a .600OPS LH vs LH bat how much worse does that make him (WAR-wise) vs. Weeks .768OPS bat+Defense? I also get on the thought that his Minors numbers should be our base line of best-case scenario vs. LHP. Since the ML Pitchers must be better than what he faced in the Minors. Only thing is, his numbers are better in the Majors than vs. the Minors to this point. Why so? Why vs. ML Pitching are they better? So why not see him improve upon his LHP numbers?
  9. So you dismiss 74 ABs as a small sample (which it clearly is), but then use an even smaller sample to try and prove your point? Ok. Lets's take the largest sample available, 255/294/349 in 477 minor league plate appearances in the minor leagues does not bode well for success against lefties in the major leagues. What else am I supposed to use for an argument for Scooter to face Lefty's more? He has 6 career Starts vs. LH SPs. He has 2 of his Career 14HRs vs. said SPs. I'm fine with looking at his Minor league numbers for an idea of what to expect vs. LH Pitching...and it's better than what Jean Segura gives us on the season thus far. I'm just not a fan of someone pointing out a .200+OPS for Scooter vs. LHP like that is his Career BEST he's ever going to accomplish vs. them...Infinity ABs Scooter will post a .200-.300OPS vs. LH Pitching is how I read that comment. It's set in Stone.
  10. Yep, and based on 74ABs vs LHP you're determined he's a failure. How about 6GSs last season vs. LHP and a .282/.349/.436/.785 line? LH SP WORLD BEATER!!! Problem is he's 1-21 vs LH RP who's job is to get LH Batters out. 3-15 vs. LH SP this season. Let a guy get ABs seeing a LH pitcher pitch and he'll improve. Seeing the Pitcher ONCE in maybe the entire season and he blows vs. LH Pitching. He's literally probably hasn't seen a LH Pitcher more than 4ABs all season. Dude, look at his minor league splits. He is horrible against LHP. That is a fact. Posted on last page of this thread. The Brewers are not in the position to let him try to figure it out.. They need proven production versus a hope and a prayer Scooter figures it out. Which are better numbers than what Segura has on the season overall. Again, he'll see the Pitchers more, he will do better than what has shown for his career vs. Lefties because his numbers for his career are based 66% on LH RPs. And his success vs. LHP is vs. LH SPs. The team won't just eat Weeks' Contract and dump him to give Scooter the chance, it's a moot point anyway. Weeks has 0 Value on the team after being the RH side of a 2b platoon. He adds Nothing else to the Roster. Scooter OPS'd over .600 in the Minors vs LHP as shown. Is he really incapable of getting better as he sees more ABs vs. LH Starters? We'll get our chance to find out next season what Scooter can do vs. LHP, But I'd bet it's far better than you and Marked even think possible.
  11. But going to make this loss feel so much worse because we should have gained a game on them today vs. the Cubs! We've scored 4Runs off these first 3 SPs for them. 3 of them via Solo HR. Only 1 RISP Run scored. We can't put together a single RALLY anymore! When is the last time the team batted around in an inning?
  13. Maybe you're thinking of Cole Hamels who sported an ERA north of 4 til around this point last season and then brought it back to respectability? The long term contracts aren't going to change. That's the only way these teams win over said player in FA. I'm just surprised these contracts aren't built up in the early years. Rather than pay Verlander 20mil the first 3years and then 28 the next 5. Just pay the man 28 the first 5 and 20 the last 3? Heck give him 35.5mil the very first year and then pay him 22.5mil per season after that. Or 35mil the first 2 years. Then 30mil. and just 20mil per the last 5seasons? Why don't we see deals structured more that way? Robinson Cano's deal is a straight 24mil per for 10years. How does that work at age 40/41? Like really? Pay that man 30mil the first 5years. So you owe him 18per the final 5years? Wish there were something like the NFL's contracts where there's money guaranteed, but a team can cut a player w/o owing that player all of his contract. (gotta be built in that way due to severe injuries...but not like we don't see injuries in MLB) Anyway, is this a Fluke or things to come? The 4.76ERA is a Fluke(Fip at 4.07) His Hits/9 is up 1 while his Ks/9 are down 2.2 over his previous 4years. If I look back on his early numbers in his career, his current numbers would be around his 3.6ERA days. But he's nowhere close to being the under 3.3ERA SP he was. So with that said, I think it's a sign of things to come, but he'll sport a 3.7-4.0ERA which still makes him capable of being a 3-4WAR SP.
  14. If you look at mlb's prospect rankings. The have an ETA on each player profile. Just saying There's only 1 thus far with an ETA of 2016. Meaning 2017 or later for the rest. So I could assume Lara may be on a similar schedule as the rest meaning 2018 as an earliest arrival date.
  15. 4 batters 3hits...0-18 since. I smell No-Hitter coming by Kershaw.
  16. Why didn't we put a claim in on this Hernandez? Since Garza was down?...At least then we could have just refused to work a trade and left him on the Phillies roster
  17. Lohse's pitch count is leading me to believe the Bullpen will have to get 9outs or more tonight....Better score another 4insurance runs and soon!
  18. Among the immediate Prospect concerns of the Cubs is also the International signings they made last year nabbing what? #1 and #3? Eloy Jimenez-OF 26G ..693OPS 2HRs Gleyber Torres-SS 30G .797OPS 1HR .295avg ...That's 2 Gilbert Laras a year ahead in progression. Also nabbed SPs Erling Moreno(17th) 5G 4S .79ERA 9k-3bb in 11.1 ip Jen-Ho Tseng(29) 16G/14S 2.47ERA .90 Whip 73k-13BB in 87ip And 3b Wladimir Galindo(25) 62G .818OPS 7HRs These are names that are 2017/18 potential adds to the Cubs team besides this glut super 6 they have within a year. Tseng was an older international signing who's 19 now. He likely shoots up the system far quicker than Moreno who may be a '19 addition at earliest. To me my projections would be the Cubs add Lester/Shields followed by Price with Edwards joining the rotation with Price and Tseng joining in 2017 mid year. And I'm thinking WS contention for Cubs 2017 after having Playoff sniffs in 2015 and a Playoff appearance in 2016 getting their young core a taste. The Cubs will be pearched atop the Central for a long time to come.
  19. How is that what we need as opposed to a good right handed pitcher who can some in and provide some stability late in games? And the way you're talking about using him...what makes him a better option to be used in this way than Jeffress? Finally, it amazes you that the Brewers even keep Kintzler on their team.....but you're advocating for a player who has worse numbers in AAA than Kintzler and then saying, "last year he had an ERA under 3 as a reliever." Well...it still was worse than Kintzler. We've seen Figaro. He's not that good. We've seen Kintzler at least be good before. If I'm betting on one of the two guys who are roughly the same age, I'll bet on the guy who was very-very good for us last year as opposed to the guy who's never really been very good for anyone before(And are roughly the same age). Yeah I think we need a RH RP who will mop up 2IP to complete a game in the 8th/9th innings. Vs. Kintzler going .2 an ip abusing another arm in the BP(Smith/Duke) who faces the one batter and then are removed. Figaro is better as a RP, his numbers last season are bloated due to his Starts. Figaro isn't a SP. He also had bloated numbers coming in to low leverage games that were out of hand last season. He didn't need to be spot on, just efficient to get 6-12 outs whatever was being asked out of him. All I recall watching Figaro was his "Stuff" looked much better imo than Kintzler's ever did. So far for Jeffress, he's done well, has awesome velocity. But he's not a Inning + RP over his career. So he can come in the 8th inning but won't be there for the 9th inning. Lose Kintzler use Figaro. Jeffress/Smith can be of use in the 8th innings when ahead. Figaro can be used in Tie/behind games in the 8th inning. This way we don't burn KRod in the 9th inning in a tie game only for it to remain tied and lose in the 10th/11th innings.
  20. Yeah his 3ERA is really deserving of the 8th inning role, after I just demonstrated how he was saved 9 Baserunners out of 10 when removed from the mound because HE wasn't getting the job done and others had to do it for him.....Just like the 8 runners allowed to score out of 21 he inherited...That's so worthy of the 8th inning job.... Bring back Figaro in replace of Kintzler. I know his numbers don't look the best in AAA but he's also been used as a SP/long relief game finisher. That's what Milwaukee needs honestly. A guy who can come in to the 8th and is more than capable to pitch the 9th. Figaro had a few of those 8+9th inning finishes last season. I think I did the math awhile back on Figaro RP stats vs his Spot start stats last season, and I believe he was under 3ERA as a RP. It's just amazing this team even keeps Kintzler on their Roster much less give him the 8th inning.
  21. Who else did they let get away after Samardzija? Hammel was a rental SP that they can just sign again. As for Samardzija, I don't believe in his numbers maintaining long term. I feel more or less he's barely an under 4ERA SP(or a #3 in my book) and just happens to be performing better than that. This season is his first season as a SP his ERA was under 3.8 at age 29. My guess is, as the "Ace" on the Cubs he was seeking Ace type extension. Something like 18-23mil per year. And who knows for how many years? I just don't believe he's proven himself to extend a contract that is worth any more than Garza money. Kudos imo to Chicago for not getting caught up in a SP having a good run of games and paying him long term expecting that run to continue to be worth that money. I think Lester/Shields are far better to build your rotation around moving forward vs. Samardzija. Scherzer too? I don't know though, I think Scherzer will be the prize FA that a team gives 25mil+ per(Grienke type deal)
  22. It's funny how MLB.com listed Draft rankings on tools and then with their mid-season update of the Rankings they adjust them? All three selections were Draft rank overall at 55. Now all three reduced to overall rank of 50. In Medeiros/Gatewood's case it came due to tool ranks being changed lower so I get it. Medeiros lost 5 on both his FB/Changeup ranks 60-55, 55-50 Gatewood lost 5 on his Power Harrison meanwhile maintained his tool ranks of his draft but still was reduced 5 in his Overall. I guess overall looking at some names we had chimed in for as potential Brewer picks they all tend to lose 5 on their overall. Anyway, interesting how Medeiros lost 5 for his FB when the reports pretty much were how he had thrown for higher velocity leading up to the draft? And how do you reduce Gatewoods Power? He's 18 and still growing. Wonder if any of these 3 will ever crack the top 100
  23. The Cubs are about to Sport an AL offensive Juggernaut in the NL in a Pitcher's Era. Don't forget their #1 pick this year Schwarber who's already moved up 2 levels and is in A+ I won't be surprised at all if the Cubs compete next season. It isn't out of the question with Rizzo-1b/Baez-2b/Bryant-3b/Alcantara-OF/Castro-SS/Almora-OF/Soler-OF and Russell as Utility Inf/backup? Schwarber future at Catcher/OF/1b whatever gets him in the lineup down the road? Of the prospects-Almora appears to be the only bat/prospect that may flame out vs. expectations. The real deal is this. Bryant will be a future #3 the likes of Braun and Rizzo will be the benefactor of getting to bat cleanup behind him. Stud #3/4 hitters locked in make them a team to worry about like Braun/Fielder duo. We're looking at a fielded team of LF-Almora, CF Alcantara, RF Soler, 3b Bryant, 2b Baez making the 500k-1mil range for the next 3 years. Rizzo making 24mil total the next 4years, Castro making 22mil total the next 3 years. Do the math That on avg means 7 of the 8 position players amounting to an avg of what 13mil-21mil total to payroll? Escalating the next 3years? They could throw 25mil per season at 4 SPs and still keep payroll under 140mil (which is my guess they would work around like Milwaukee works around 100mil) Now first name to add as signee via FA is Jon Lester. Then James Shields. 2016 Add David Price. The Cubs could add all three and their payroll wouldn't reach 150mil. at least until 2017 or 2018. Now imagine if they found a sucker to trade Castro to this offseason for a legit looking SP prospect? Let's say to Boston for Ranaudo or Webster or heaven forbid Owens! (figuring Bogaerts gets relegated to 3b duties) You're talking a Lester/Shields 1/2 with the Boston SP #3, Arrieta #5 and I'm sure there's at least 2 scrappy vet #4s they could sign(like Hammel again) The Cubs will be real in 2015 and very real in 2016. edit add: Just want to mention Lester won't cost a draft pick. And the Cubs sit pretty much 6games ahead(own tiebreakers) for a top 10 pick meaning Shields will cost a 2nd rd pick only to sign. Their pyt record sits at 51-60 9games under .500. Add those 2 SPs? Bryant vs. Olt? Cubs are an over .500 team next year.
  24. That number was prior to tonight's what? 2ERs? His K/9 has gone like this: 11, 9.2, 7.6, 6.8, and now 5.0 HR rate is back up this year. How down is his velocity from say 2 years ago? He's just getting shelled and there's nothing that indicates(like a high Krate or a lower Hit/9 rate) that, that won't continue being the case. How about his shiny ERA actually being caused by the RP who inherits Kintzler's runners and strands them? Looking up the Game Logs in order: 2OB Duke Ks to end the inning 2OB(1 on Kintzler after giving up a run on inherited runner) Smith allows both to score 2OB (another run allowed by Kintzler on inherited runner) Smith Ks to end the inning 2OB Wooten Ks to end the inning 1OB Smith induces Flyball out 2OB Wang induces GB to end the inning Total 10 men he was responsible for OB and only 1 Runs allowed Meanwhile 21 runners he's inherited and has allowed 8 runs to score. Just not doing the team any favors on his end.
