  1. Yep. Control Pitchers my fantasy team become Walk Machines. Come on Marco!
  2. What? Why? Does Lucroy have a grudge vs. Molina and do that on his own accord? Because no sane manager asks their catcher to run against Molina!
  3. Could have been worse, could have seen Ellis hit a 3run HR like Jay for his 1st hit of the season. Would have been perfect after Simmons' not ever having heard of him lol
  4. Craig is a better hitter than Peralta/Ellis/Bourjos so he goes 2nd. Besides it the Cardinals vs. Brewers where a struggling .140 BA Cardinal bats .500 vs. Milwaukee that season. Freese anyone? or Rasmus? Jon Jay last night who has 26 career HRs and now 7 of them vs Milw. Craig probably goes 4-5 tonight(my opponent in Fantasy has Craig) with 2HRs 6RBI. And Molina too another Card vs. my team in fantasy he'll have a huge game doubling my hate of Cardinal players. On the other spectrum, I own Miller so he'll go 4ip and give up 8Runs...Did I mention I have Estrada too? Lol so yeah I'm doomed. High scoring game tonight 13-8 Cards.
  5. Actually they failed to go the other way with the ball and pulled everything. That's why. Segura's hits I'm pretty sure were opposite way and 1 of his groundouts. I didn't see the game just gameday. You said in the 9th all 3batters would K or pull a grounder, well ARam and Lucroy hit it to dead center field, and they weren't the only outs I seen to straight away when the ball was put in play. It's a bit frustrating to read your posts condemning the team over and over for being pull hitters, you didn't see the game and see their approach. But the fact Segura put the Ball in Play 3 times to the opposite field alone would tell me that a bit of the ABs were trying to go the opposite way. Since Segura's season has been pretty much ground out to SS on his outs. What's even better is you're moaning at them for not going the opposite direction yet other posts were they are swinging and missing on some pretty fat left up the middle of the plate Fastballs. So what is it? Lynn pinpoints the outside corner or the Brewers batters missed fat pitches up over the middle of the plate/ let a number of them go by looking? I'm as confused as I'm sure the batters were last night on what was a strike or a ball.
  6. The Crew: Luis Ortiz-RHP-HS FB 92-94 topping out at 97 depending on reports. His slider is already a plus big league pitch. He also has a developing change and curve. He was apparently pudgy and then lost 40 lbs and transformed himself, he drew high marks for his command but for some reason is slipping down BA's draft board (16 to 40). He was 6' 3" 205 lbs coming into the season. I think I found out why http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140410&content_id=71632790&notebook_id=71632642&vkey=notebook_mlb&c_id=mlb http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/2014-draft-update-change-at-the-top-as-pitchers-dominate/ Last paragraph before rankings: As usual, the first round has some injury wild cards, such as Sanger (Calif.) High righthander Luis Ortiz, who had missed a couple of starts with a hush-hush injury but was expected back in mid-April; and Virginia outfielder Derek Fisher, who was out with a hamate injury in his right hand. Other injured prospects who have volatile draft stock include Georgia prep righty Dylan Cease and Florida prep Cobi Johnson. That's scary to me as in, he's going to slip past us and right on to the Cardinals come draft day laughing all the way to another Golden Draftee. One can guess though if he's looking healthy, he jumps back up the draft board. And if his injury appears more serious, he falls even further(right to our 2nd pick?) Dreaming
  7. Statement Game right here by Garza and the Brewers. That could completely change the season series by having one. I think mentally it puts the thought, "This Brewers team is for real" in their heads. And for Milwaukee, getting the first win vs. StL. after their start just sets the tone. We're here to stay atop and we're not going to back down to the heralded, automatic 1st place in everyone's eyes Cardinals. I'm already fully expecting 2 Bean Brewer Players in this game. I hope RRR gets ejected along with Wang when they bring him in to immediately bean a Cardinal back on the 2nd Brewer beaning. The Benches clear and every game here on out vs the Cardinals has a Playoff Game feel about it. I like Gomez and Braun when they are angry.
  8. I think more than likely, Weeks stays on the roster until the AS break give or take 2weeks. By then the team has paid over half his salary. Other teams have had their chance to ask about him should their own 2b get injured for a 60day or longer DL stint. You cut bait at that point and Rickie's remaining contract. You likely see a team take the risk to claim him on waivers(maybe) or at least sign him and you save that amount at least. Meantime, you've opened a roster spot for the stretch run to complete the season for a Bullpen guy or more versatile Bench Bat. But there's no way aside from a Weeks resurgence he plays on this team for the full 2014 season.
  9. I thought we had a thread about this approx. 2-3months ago? I actually thought this was that thread and some new poster was replying to it to say, imagine if we'd have signed him? After his start thus far. But nope, this is a new thread.
  10. Will Smith is on pace to pitch 95 games. K-Rod and Henderson 88. Thornburg's on pace for 103 innings. These guys are pitching fine now, but this kind of things catches up over 162 games. Part of the reason our good relievers are pitching is that we are winning and games are close. It's understandable you want your best guys out there. But the team is going to have to work in Wang simply to keep the other guys from getting overworked. I think the Braves a couple of years ago were criticized when they overworked their big three relievers. They were brilliant all year, but faltered in September as they all got tired. Yeah when those guys get tired we can bring in Wang who may be a 2ERA guy or a 6ERA guy it's fairly unknown. But if he's a 2ERA guy what a weapon to bring out of the bullpen later in the season who's arm is fresh. Wang's a rookie, let him get adjusted to the ML life some more. Gain some more tutoring by coaches and our vets. I'm not overly upset he hasn't played. Only that 5Run lead with 3 Leftys to bat I think it was the 8th inning vs the Phillies is where I'd have pitched him that they haven't. I take the positive route thinking here. Wang is improving every month he ages on the ML roster. Is it better to see him go say 8/9/9/7/10/6IPs per month where like Peralta of last year the early numbers are awful. Or maybe 4/7/10/9/13/8IPs where he's improved as the season progressed and we got to use that improvement more in the end when it can really matter?
  11. Actually I could see that getting conversations serious. 12.5 million a year for 4 years is more than Lohse is getting paid. Lohse is a good comparison for Gallardo and IMO better than him. He'll get more than 3 years, though. $50-60 million should do it. Gallardo I think will without question sign a deal like this. He will never get 20 million. Not even close. Maybe closer to 13.5 a year max. Um, Let's go ahead and attach Lohse to 1st rd compensation and being older than Gallardo. and Garza being an injury concern to why those 2 are being paid far less than what Gallardo could command on the open market as a 3.6ERA under 1.2Whip guy should he be so. after next season. My guess would be 4years 68mil. His next deal. Lincecum money. Now, for the main thought on the topic do we want to extend Yo during this season? NO not I. Yo was compared as a #4 Starter at the trade deadline last year by GMs. I'm buying in to that assessment. I don't even think Yo is worth his option year with it but maybe some team does and we can move 2015 on them for some young prospect. Yo's velocity is down as we all know and look at what it does to the best of pitchers. C.C Sabathia anyone? Why extend Yo to years where his velocity should ACTUALLY begin declining. It shouldn't be declining now, he's in his prime but it has. So at age 30?31,32? You want to buy in to those years around Age 27's Market value years? My guess is if Yo goes Year to year his Salary would look like this: 2016: 18mil. 2017:11mil 2018:9mil 2019: 4mil option of 12mil 2020. Do the math on that in 4 years. That's only 42mil. You extend him on a 4year deal though he's going to look for 18mil per based on history not his projection career arc throughout his contract. Do you really commit 18mil in 2016 or 2017 when Yo is throwing 87-88MPH FBs? This from a guy who has never been a spot on locate his pitches on the corners type guy? Sure I can be wrong, but I'm not a fan of signing Free Agent Starters at Market or near value. Lohse and Garza we got for under perceived value due to special situations. Those are the only kind of deals I think Milwaukee can handle and take on. This notion to sign these guys prematurely because you care about saving 1-4mil maybe a season by doing so now? Yeah it's worthwhile to save 1-4mil per if we're staring at 10mil per when doing so. But when you're commiting 15mil or more per? I'll take my 15mil or more saved and use it with current assessments when that time comes, not current assessments and future hope stays current assessments.
  12. http://mlbdraftcountdown.wordpress.com/2014/03/27/2014-mlb-mock-draft-2-0/ Another mock but if you click the player's names theres a scouting profile with grades. Tell me how any of the Batting prospects get picked ahead of the pitchers if their Hit for Avg grade is 45 with future 50-55? Meaning Avg/slightly above avg. Meanwhile Pitcher's grades are in the 60s with future 65/70s grades? Yeah those batters are fast/look to have great defensive skills, but Batting avg issues? Vs. Pitchers that have above avg grade stuff today? with Growth? I said before when I watched video of the batter prospects, none of them really caught my eye with their swings. It's a must to take a Pitcher in this draft. And I'll still stick with Ortiz as my fingers crossed guy. His name jumps in these mocks from top 10 to falls in the 20range. I really hope he's there when we pick and we select him.
  13. The difference between Reynolds and and say Francisco is that when Reynolds fans, he never really looks overmatched. He looks like he's guessing up there even with 2 strikes. When he guesses right, he hits it a long, long way. His HR the other day. That swing was perfection. In the Zone throughout it. Now JuanFran his swing has just too much upward in it. (Explains the appearance of being overmatched) Which makes it easy to understand why he goes through mass struggles. If Reynolds swing is anything like his last HR's swing, he's in for a much better year than expected. 49HRs type of better than expected.
  14. Wow on the bunt complaints. Moving both runners in to scoring position while removing the DP potential on a grounder? All things considered, not able to watch game so I don't know how deep the fly ball was, with the new Play at the plate rules, and the score tied, the 3rd base coach should have told him, head for home on a fly ball, force them to nail you out. It's a tie ball game. BAs are .300ish for Gomez so with 2outs he's only going to knock Davis in around 30% of the time. Poor throw, Catcher interfers blocking Davis's path just try to get the go ahead run there.
  15. Just to put this in numbers since "being on pace" is fun. As a Leadoff hitter Gomez is now on pace for 59HRs and 117RBI. He's in for a monster season with all the PAs he's going to get.
  16. Mark Reynolds on pace for 49HRs....Do the 194Ks(pace) bother you when he does so?
  17. Who has the better ceiling as a Starter? Jimmy Nelson or Tyler Thornburg? Or is it about equal? Who has a better ceiling as a Starter? Thornburg or Garza? Thornburg or Estrada? It's known that Thornburg's FB drops what? 3-4MPH as a Starter vs. as a Reliever. Play him out of the bullpen, not just for this year, but beyond. This can be our Closer of 2015. KRod is a 1year deal. Henderson is already losing faith. So honestly, looking in to the future, who steps up in to the closer role? All things being the same, Nelson or Thornburg as Starters, just go with Nelson as the plan for now and Thornburg remains your Bullpen guy for the future. If Thornburg does go in to the Closer's role next year, his future payday will increase far,far quicker than if he's a Starter, so I don't see why he wouldn't want that if the team is proposing the idea towards him? We have Pitching depth of #3s, it really shouldn't matter which of the collective of 3s are on the mound so long as they do their job. Arguing against Estrada being on the mound because his future isn't long in Milwaukee anymore? So let's reduce his value by demoting in the Pen, just to put Thornburg out there who's tossing 3-4MPH slower on his FB? Because Thornburg has a longer future with the team? Where's the logic in that? With that logic, Gallardo should be in the Bullpen for sure since he stands to be gone after this season. The team is set up the way it is set up, for at least this season and maybe next if Gallardo's option is picked up. Why grumble about Thornburg being in the bullpen? vs. Starting every 5 days? If Thornburg truly is good enough to take the mound every 5 days effectively, his time will come a year from, 2 years, 5 years, whatever it may be. He'll force it behind his talent. He can voice his displeasure too at some point and the team can address that when it happens with either making a move to get him what he wants. Or trading him to a team who wants him as a starter. I'm just glad that one of our own prospects is 1 healthy and 2 performing at a high level. A level that helps this team win(He's 2-0 and I don't know why he doesn't have a save from completing that other game?)
  18. Okay, Time to get real optimistic. We are 7-2. Division Competitors Pitts/StL coming to MP for 6games. Look ahead to the pitching matchups and we have tough Liriano and Miller with the other 4 games I'd say in our favor. Then the 4Games on the road vs. Pitts. no Lirano pick up Cole. You look ahead and I'm thinking 7-3 in these next 10 games is very possible to be 14-5 on the season and probably 4games or more ahead of Pitts. Mind Blown !*_*!
  19. Yep^^^ noted above Why are we pitching away from Howard nitpicking the zone with a 4run lead? Pitch to contact!
  20. See, if Weeks doesn't ground in to double play there, Smith likely completes the game, now he'll be removed and another arm gets usage. Oops nvm, it was a double switch with Gennett. So Smith is 8th in the batting now.
  21. Surprised to see Thornburg back on the mound. See, this is why Wang should have been used in either of the prior two games and Henderson would be available now.
  22. Wow I jinxed it, going to be that inning huh? So much for 8ip.
  23. Well Philly I believe gives up more homers then Miller Park, but I agree with your point. No, last year it appears they did, but Miller Park gives up more historically. But I am surprised Citizens appears to be in the top 10 of HR friendly parks, I thought they were bottom half.
  24. Yeaaaah!!!! Khris Davis! That's a monster 2out insurance run off Lee. Just to add, those two doubles very well may knock Lee out after 6ip. As he's now over 90pitches.
