  1. 4game lossing streak. 4hits, 4hits, 5hits, and 3hits in those 4 games. Oppenents scored more runs than we had hits. How much longer does the futility have to continue to fire Haines? Are we waiting for the team BA to dip below .200?
  2. True b2b quality starts 14IP 2ERs. Sucks they wasted great starts vs a division foe.
  3. Pillar has a below 90 OPS+ and Marishnick has all of 70PAs only 14games started. You would be blasting about terrible signings of these two as well, not going out and finding a hitter the team needs. Let's be honest here. I can probably look back at the offseason rumor thread and you likely threw shade on some poster who suggested signing either of the two. It's really tough on Stearns and the analytic crew who suggest these signings. As my post before JBJ had a personal record on contact when chasing. So he's improving right? Now follows up with worst by far in his career after signing. I think this happened with Smoak's signing last year. He had a great improvement on things that you would hope continue that went complete bellyup instead. Theres guys out there though like Justin Turner or Daniel Murphy who turned a pedestrian history into stud hitting while around age of 30. Took a chance and missed. Avi Garcia is an example to this. Barreling up balls improved two seasons prior to his signing to a career worst in 2020. Now hes measuring a career best on barrels and tracking as the kind of production you paid for. If Taylor or Cain were healthy I'd consider a 10day IL stint for JBJ to maybe reset and find what hes been doing wrong.
  4. Said this somewhere else. Via statcast he had a career high on chase contact in 2020 of over 62pct. At the time he was at a little more than 42pct this year. Hes dropped it below 42pct now. By far a career record low. Everything else when put in play is around what he's done for his career. Either he needs to improve on his pitch taking so whiffs become balls or he's gotta find whatever adjustment he made in swing and revert it back. There's that or Pitching is just that far better in NL Central and NL compared to AL in terms of late break. Maybe the sticky substance reduces spin and late break and he starts contacting the ball more. But really just a terrible hacker.
  5. Wow ... suffice it to say, we're gonna have to agree to disagree. But regarding the idea that Sternberger and Deguara are in the same mold, I'm not real sure how you came to that conclusion. At all. Jace Sternberger is a prototypical 6'5", 255 lb receiving TE. Josiah Deguara is a 6'1 1/2", 240 lb H-Back/FB. They are very, very different. Yes, Sternberger was deployed to do some of the same types of things that Deguara was drafted to do last year, but that is not his ideal skillset. Jace played in 2019 and the way he was used is exactly how one sees JD being used. He wasnt lined up at TE it was more often than not in a motion to chip a DE and run a route out in to the flat I'm still interested in anyone who can name me the player you would hope Deguara is a mold of. My guy Chase Claypool is in the mold of an Eric Moulds/Charles Johnson. As to the argument you can't have "enough" of guys like Deguara? Really? Aaron Rodgers doesnt need a team with 3 or 4 Deguara types to make his QB skills work. It'd maybe be a little different if JD was going to be used as a stud ST player who helps the offense, but even using a 3rd rd selection on this type of player? Gotta be near bottom of totem pole when building a roster. And yet 3rd round....
  6. Anyone who doesnt believe Deguara was a reach can just stop commenting on the draft selections. In what world are we in where GB needed a HB/FB/TE hybrid at the moment of the 3rd round pick? They drafted Jace Sternburger the season before in 3rd round who yes is a TE but fit this mold with Deguara. On top of they just drafted Dillon a RB in 2nd rd? Can anyone here name a similar player type that Deguara is supposedly filling who's an NFL All-Pro/HoF? We picked Martin in the 5th rd where it looks a run of some good quality LBs were taken immediately following Deguara. As well as a couple good producing Offensive Tackles. Deguara is just a system player for MLF's offensive scheme. He's 6'2" small stature for a TE that make a big impact in the NFL. Huge Reach when you at that moment had 3TEs and 3RBs to select somebody who likely doesn't catch more than 40 passes ever in a season. He likely doesnt even take 70pct or higher snaps in games without RBs being injured. A good selected LB or O-Line will out-produce what at best you get from Deguara's position with it not even being their best.
  7. Mentioned before but JBJ has now had 5 seasons out of his 9 where he was holding below a 200BA at this calendar date. He has often pulled it up to .220 by mid July and finished a little higher 2 of the previous 4. So he should trend towards 200 over the next 4 weeks. But not likely to find 220 by season end.
  8. Thing on Adames is he was just as high a prospect as Hiura reached coming up and has proven to be valuable every year in the Majors. Brewers should jump at that offer every time. Maybe Adames doesnt possess the Ceiling Hiura could reach with the bat but Adames adds value all around whereas it's clearly only offense by Hiura. Probably need a different player to ask that question who might be more a low within top 100prospects whose shine is off from a top 50 previously. Got a guy Id wonder on. Seth Beer of Arizona minors. 1b. I'd have to strongly consider that since a true 1b(unathletically) vs Keston. Hes off to a good start in AAA.
  9. Everybody tends to chase at pitches out of the zone. That isn't what's keeping him from success. The missing contact of pitches in the zone is what he has to fix. When you whiff on 45% of pitches that ML average whiffs 18pct of the time, reducing that will fix the other just on the fact hes putting balls in play before that breaking pitch that he whiffs out of the zone. How many middle of plate mistakes has he just swung through? Seems you see it in the game threads once a game at least. Mistakes that should be hit for doubles and HRs? Just get back to making them pay on those Mistakes. As to trading him, hes obviously a much lower value right now. He's no defensive wizard and his value will come only in form of quality of his bat. So I'm leaning an opinion that trading Hiura I'm not opposed to now. Still gotta value him highly. Just let him rebuild his swing in minors.
  10. If the team winds u s clock back far enough yes theyd gain another year of control but He'd become a Super 2 player. I will be interested in seeing if Hiura has the success this time on hitting AAA because his time down would have been around first starts of the season for some of the pitchers he faced. Spring Training essentially, and now we're approaching what would be the beginning of MLB season time-frame. I wouldn't allow him back on the team til his K pct down in the minors after 120PAs was at or below 31pct. circa 2019 statistically.
  11. Just seen the facebook replay. All three missed calls were strike 3. 3 outs vs 3balls. One being Hiura. On the replay, Burnes mound presence walking off is scary! Absolute Stud locked in. Talking Mike Tyson prime when somehow the other boxer lasted 3mins.
  12. Quick check. 7games. 9/19. 13b 1HR 7BBs to 2Ks. At A+ level. Something like 1.3OPS.
  13. Interesting looking at transaction log for Feyereisen. Stearns acquired him for Brenny Escanio?sp and bonus slot money. And now used him to get Adames who looks to be a major fixture on this team-positively- at SS through his prime, under team control. This is nearing HR trade already.
  14. Just wanted to point out that EVERY player in history is awful for most of their at bats. That's why nobody has ever hit .501 or better. Baseball is a sport where we put someone in the hall of fame for succeeding in 3/10 of their at bats, and this year a player succeeding in 1/4 is looking mighty good. So Hiura is doing well in 1.5/10, that's not far off from 2.5/10 Hes batting .127 after 102ABs. Lets say he reaches 400ABs. He'll need 87hits in the last 298ABs. A 292 BA. We're almost approaching having to bat HoF then to reach the current succeeding player. He's extremely far off. Stays on pace hes at this 4game series, he will Have to bat HoF level to reach the succeeding player. Whats interesting to see via statcast that clearly shows something terribly wrong in his swing is the year to year spray chart. 2019 he hit 45pct to center. 2020 it was 40pct. This season its 28.8pct. Teams are shifting more and his numbers are worse vs the shift. His batted ball pct has 37.3pct as hitting under the ball. This vs around 23pct previously. And hes approaching laughably a 50pct contact when swinging at strikes in the zone. ML avg is 82pct! He's so far away from just succeeding in todays baseball. Got to find a way to get on top of the ball. Is his stance crouched more than in 2019? Or just that fastballs high in the zone are being zipped past him when in 2019 pitchers didnt know they could just do that? Btw, also checked JBJ statcast. Pretty much for him is he's not making contact on balls chased out of the zone vs his career numbers. Last year he had his highest chase contact pct. This year he's more than 10pct below his previous worst chase contact season. A full 20pct difference this year vs last.
  15. 13-14. Because the pitching just can't keep this up while the hitting sticking with Hiura/JBJ/Shaw most certainly can.
  16. The expertise on Hiura's swing, stance, leg kick, etc. being the problem is truly extensive on the forum. Yet not a single hitting expert or coach with the Brewers has ever had him make this change? Idk...I think his issues may be more than a swing or stance. People like to make Hiura's problems seem simple, but I don't think it is. He just has to hit the ball more that 2/3rds the time. Fixed for you.
  17. Heard that Green had 5HRs this last week. Get this over with and insert a bat that may actually produce. Hiura's week back 1hit 2BBs 9ks. 19PAs. Worse than Milw's SPs this last week.
  18. Yep just over 20days isn't enough time to overhaul and fix anything especially when he spent what? A week likely at home supporting his mom. Team should start using Narvaez or Pina at first starting the other at catcher vs Lefties. Keep Hiura down for as long as his K-rate is 33% or higher after the 20days needed to not count on service time and longer til it reaches that mark.
  19. The reason to bunt is simple. Move runners out of a DP situation and a runner on 3rd can score on a deep enough fly ball, passed ball/wild pitch, soft ground balls that dont end with thrown out at plate. I think reading the thread Brewers batters could have been hbp on a cpl pitches. So wildness and a passed ball is a valid thought on scoring there. You just can't continue going 0, 1, and 2 for however many runners in scoring position night in and night out. Gotta be batting well below .100 with RISP in losses this season. Im sure theres a stat that says what it is in losses vs wins somebody could reply here or if anything in Brewers offense thread. Could maybe agree on Hader being saved for the 10th as Im sure hes not available tomorrow. Suter gives up a run in 9th and Offense blows no Hader needed. Hiura is 1 for 8 with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts on return. No improvement shown.
  20. The game is going on, but the MLB Gameday is frozen for some reason. O'Grady struck out. Then Yelich grounded out, Pina struck out, and Hiura walked. Thank you.
  21. Whats happening been 3-2 pitch for over 2min now. Did somebody get ejected seeing as called strike 2 looks like should been ball4?
  22. Ive seen suggestions and thoughts on a Rodgers trade post draft costing the team you trade Rodgers to a likely late 1st rd selection when getting a few 1st rd picks back for Rodgers. I think an obvious solution would be teams who have a 1st rd pick already trade to them for 2022. I looked them up and seen a few who just or recently drafted their future at QB. But 1, the Detroit Lions. Who got a 1st for Matthew Stafford while gaining Jared Goff. Goff has an opt out for 2023 otherwise. Not sure how good the Rams will be yr1 with Stafford, but maybe a conditional 2nd rd pick can be tossed in if the 1st rd pick taken is worse than the the other 1st rd pick Det keeps? Tim Boyle is #2 on the Lions depth chart so theres that reconnection with Rodgers. Taking Goff would work as a stop-gap to Love with at least 4 yrs potential keep if Love is a straight bust. Trading Rodgers within your division I know is poorly thought towards, but this potentially fills a perfect return, dooming Rodgers to a never won SB team and hurting the division rival by taking draft picks for their future.
  23. How predictable to see Vogelbach bat 2nd so predetermined fit to PH Hiura #2 like either of those belong #2
