Simply a move where he's saved money and jumps on a player who will improve the team. Only thing is I'm not sure he'd solve 3b defensively. Obviously 2b is his calling. So then you go to 1b with him. Think of Milws future payroll. That scenario trading Hader drops 10mil or more moving to 2022. Garcia not having his option picked up saves 10 more. Cains contract ends though Im not sure which year with opting out. Narvaez is gone after 2022. So theres money that will be shed to afford that deal.

I think you're setting yourself up for a disappointment if you expect us to beat anyone in the playoffs as the 49'ers beat us last year. Having compared the 2 now statistically, Lemahieu at best deserves a 4-76mil contract and an apology to Donaldson.

I feel like reading the threads for the past 1+months Freddy Peralta isn't on this team. When SP rotation options like above get mentioned Peralta isn't there. When Bullpen stalwarts are mentioned' he isn't there. He came far enough in last offseason to make Brewers front office extend him "now" before it was too late to get a friendly deal. This is a great post. I think the Yankees had reached a get under the luxury tax threshold. And that is sorta what is happening among small market teams who were near their "Luxury Tax" threshold. Like the Dodgers did, the Mets are spending boatloads of cash to make a big impression on new ownership. These are anomalies. Tanking teams do it year to year. White Sox of last offseason. Padres now. Marlins of the past, Astros. Cubs. Different model than a new owner, but works the same. Draft big, trade big, come together all at once and splash FA big. Boom or bust though. Hey if opposing pitchers are caught and suspended X amount of hames, isn't that beneficial to Angels? I think this is a great time to be a Brewerfan. For a franchise that has long struggled to produce any pitching of note, we look to have two legit top of the rotation caliber pitchers in Woodruff & Burnes, plus the best two headed shutdown relief tandem ever in all of MLB with Williams & Hader. Ok looking it up sounds like Jan 15 is the date to submit what teams are willing to pay a player and for players to submit what they believe should earn. Then mid February if they hadn't come to an agreed salary, the arbitration hearing would begin. That's where I think action takes place. After a 60game season, salary increases won't be normal. Or will they? Seems a lot of Arb eligibles are still without a contract. You clear this up and teams such as the Brewers will have an understanding of what payroll they have to work with. And/or the trade value tied to a Josh Hader for example. Is he going to make 8-10mil next season? Or 5.5-7? Counsell believed Hader should have won 6.4mil his first go. So jumping to 10mil doesnt seem like a reach. Youre talking price difference around an early 1st rd pick to early 2nd rd pick value. Or a full tier below class of prospect return. At that point if its worst case scenario, they keep Hader and pay the man til the end and let him go at FA. The worst would also mean the end of FA signings over 2mil. They'd probably settle with minors sign and invites with strong chances to win 1b or 3b role. Woodruff is also on the Arb process which has to be near a 2mil space once submissions happen. On worst case scenario that's a combined 4-6.5mil nearly a Blake Treinen deal the Dodgers just handed out. Teams that are buying right now how many arb guys tbd do they have? Maybe they don't have any significant one or any at all so payroll is easy to spend.

Make CFB Playoffs 7 teams. Conference Champ of Power-5 and 2 at large with a caveat. Any non power-5 team that goes undefeated receives those at large spots. Here's the thing on Tampa trading skills. It has been a big process that they developed Ace quality SPs, 2s and 3s and have been recycling them the better part of a decade(if not closing in on 2) Milwaukee is approaching that recycling value pitchers bring. Hader will likely be the first, Woodruff or Burnes to follow. Maybe luck in to a Freddy Peralta #2 type season with his contract that gets a solid return afterwords. We've lost out now on Wily Peralta, Nelson, Chase Anderson, and Kneble bad seasons or injuries. Did win with Thornburg. We have promising pitching prospect in the system that when you start trading off Hader, etc., ought to add a few more promising arms. And then we can be like TB model of consistency while being a small market. Tampa's run coincides with having two #1 picks after a #3pick. We've not built from that beginning. 6straight winning seasons, 4 after below .500, now 3 straight above again. We're not going to field 500 plus teams every season. Could use some luck on our side.
