I wouldn't be surprised if you're right on this. Sign Shields then get KRod or something on a 1 year deal.
  2. DR28
I agree... If we do get Papelbon, some other bullpen piece(s) will have to be moved... Too many guys for 7 spots.
  3. DR28
Yea I definitely think this trade gets done now.
  4. DR28
If the trade for Papelbon gets completed and Perez makes the team (which I'm sure he will)... There's gonna be some tough cuts in ST... Also assuming Thornburg and Henderson are healthy. Papelbon (Sounding more and more likely this gets done) Broxton Henderson Smith Cotts Perez Kintzler Jeffress Thornburg Unless some more trades are coming... Gotta imagine Kintzler gets cut... And maybe Thornburg goes to AAA to get stretched out.

Cubs are "kicking the tires" on Shields now.
  6. DR28
    I'm guessing 0.

Oh boy what a lineup when your cleanup hitter is coming off a year where he hit 15 HR (4 from July 1st on) and drove in 66 runs (26 from July 1 on). That kind of production screams cleanup hitter. Not. I will say Ramirez is getting paid like a cleanup hitter, but I'm not real confident he can produce like one any more. I would love to depend on Gennett, Lucroy, Braun, Lind and Gomez as our "heart" of the order and have them deliver because I still feel Aram has something in the tank and out of the 6 hole, he could be really productive for us. A guy that hits .280-.300 batting 6th? I'll take that any day. I definitely agree with this... Aramis is perfect in the 6th spot.
  8. DR28
Amaro said talks about Papelbon are still ongoing.
  9. DR28
Curious if Doug would have any interest in Edward Mujica... Sounds like Red Sox are willing to trade him. He saved 37 games for Cards in 2013. I think I would be OK with him being our Closer.
  10. DR28
Wisler and Alonso would be great for Sardinas... Doubt it happens tho.
  11. DR28
I agree... Get Papelbon and we have a very, very good bullpen. Really like to see Thornburg as LR/Spot Starter.
  12. DR28
Has the be another move coming... Closer type move. Mark A did say he would be shocked if Brewers didn't make one more move... I'm really hoping this isn't the move. Get Papelbon.
  13. DR28
I agree if they wanted KRod, he would already be a Brewer. I really believe the trade for Papelbon will be completed.
  14. DR28
So he didn't tweet this? tom ‏@haudricourt 1m1 minute ago so, #brewers have one-year deal major league deal with lhp neal cotts. has passed his physical. don't know money yet. 40-man move necessary. but this is not the only move it was part one of two moves for the pen
  15. DR28
Monday it was reported the trade talks were back on. And that was when he posted about Brewers wanting to get Papelbon deal done.
  16. DR28
Tom tweeted the other day, Brewers are more interested in Papelbon deal. Ok complete the trade with the Phillies and call it an offseason. This pen will be really good. Papelbon Broxton Smith Henderson Cotts Thornburg Jeffress Kintzler
  17. DR28
I agree... Gotta get the closer situation figured out soon before everyone is gone.
  18. DR28
I might have missed a couple but this is what I've come up with so far. C Jeff Baker SS Evereth Cabrera LHP Bruce Chen LHP Franklin Morales RP Francisco Rodriguez RP Rafael Soriano Bruce Chen and Franklin Morales both make sense as a 2nd lefty out of the pen / swing man. Franklin Morales in particular might be a valuable piece if used correctly. Didnt know he represents Morales... Morales and Soriano would be perfect to end the offseason. Morales has some good stuff... Would be my pick to be LR/Spot Starter.
  19. DR28
Probably talking about both players with Boras.
  20. DR28
Phillies beat writer said teams still talking about Papelbon deal.
  21. DR28
I'll take a crack at 2015 lineup. Vs RHP Gennett, 2B Lucroy, C Braun, RF Lind, 1B Gomez, CF Ramirez, 3B Davis, LF Segura, SS Vs LHP Sardinas, 2B Lucroy, 1B Braun, RF Gomez, CF Ramirez, 3B Davis, LF Maldonado, C Segura, SS Damn we could/should have a really good O this year.
  22. DR28
Our 2015 closer will either be K-Rod or Soriano... Both Boras clients. Adding either of them gives us a very, very solid pitching staff.
  23. DR28
Then why have we been trying to acquire Papelbon? I believe our 2015 closer isn't on this team yet... Hardicourt tweeted Brewers likely to make at least one more move... A closer type move. Hoping it's Soriano.
  24. DR28
Sounds like Papelbon deal is on "life support"... Disappointed to hear this. So go get Soriano or Janssen to be our closer.
  25. DR28
I really want this to happen... Sure he can be a douche but we all can be at times. Adding him would give us a legit 'pen... Papelbon Broxton Smith Henderson Thornburg Jeffress Kintzler
