  1. I agree with that... We have a Top 5 Offense in all of the MLB!! I don't see the Lineup changing from what we had last year... Why fix what isn't broken? Aoki Weeks Braun Ramirez Hart Lucroy Gomez Segura
  2. This is how I see the Bullpen playing out... Axford - CL Henderson - SU Gonzalez - SU Gorzelanny - MR Badenhop - MR De Los Santos - MR Narveson - LR I'm putting Narveson as our Long man... Rogers has to much potential to be left out of the Rotation. I see Fautino making the bullpen as he is out of options and Kintzler has a option left. This is how I see the Rotation come Opening Day: Gallardo Estrada Fiers Peralta Rogers I actually like our Top 3 of Yo, Marco and Mike... I can see all 3 guys having ERAs between 3.50-3.75.
  3. Sounds like the Brewers signed Kelvim Escobar to a Major League deal... Doug found his Veteran for the Rotation? http://clnsradio.com/2013/01/10/source-brewers-sign-rhp-kelvim-escobar/ EDIT: Nevermind the above... Kelvim was signed to a Minor League deal with invite to camp.
  4. Yep I guess we signed Kelvim to a Minor League deal...
  5. Murphy plays 2B, SS & 3B.
  6. Any ideas on who will fill out our Bench? I know Maldonado, Gamel & Schafer are locks but the last two spots I have no idea... I could see Donnie Murphy winning the backup IF spot. Locks Maldonado Gamel Schafer My thoughts on the last 2 spots... Donnie Murphy Power-hitting OF/Pinch Hitter
  7. I couldn't agree more!!! I would love to have Jazy as our #2! Recent reports have him at 92-93... Take a gamble Doug!
  8. Javy said he wants to play in 2013... Recent scouting reports have him around 92-93... He's very durable, having 14 straight seasons with 25 or more starts. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21250656/sox-scouting-javier-vazquez-friday I would love Doug to take a gamble on Vazquez... He would fit nicely behind Yo as our #2!
  9. Man... I love this bullpen Doug put together!! Axford Henderson Gonzalez Kintzler Gorzelanny Badenhop Whoever doesn't make the Rotation as LR With this bullpen, we will compete in the NL especially with the Offense we have!!
  10. That's about right. He's a good fit. Joey Votto is 3 for 20 lifetime off him. Brian McCann is 0 for 15. Ryan Howard is 2 for 13. He was solid for the Nats last year. I would suspect the Brewers are seeking one more RH reliever in the same price range. Melvin's putting together a bullpen that may not have a great upside, but by the same token seems less likely to implode again either. I would agree... Hopefully Doug signs one of Rauch, Farnsworth and Frasor... I would prefer Rauch of the three.
  11. I like it! He had a nice 2012 in Washington... Tom can get both lefties and righties out! Ok Doug get us one of Rauch, Farnsworth and Frasor now! And let's roll with a bullpen of: Axford Henderson Kintzler Gorzelanny Badenhop Narveson That last spot in the bullpen can go to a FA... And if Doug can find the right deal, get us a Veteran SP to put behind Yo!
  12. If we were to sign 2 of Farnsworth, Frasor, Rauch and Gonzalez... I want Rauch and Gonzalez then go with this Staff... Rotation Gallardo Estrada Peralta Rogers Fiers Bullpen Axford Henderson Gonzalez Rauch Badenhop Kintzler Narveson I still would like Marcum in the #2 slot behind Yo but doubt that happens... Then I would put Fiers in AAA and go with the Rotation of: Gallardo Marcum Estrada Peralta Rogers
  13. [language deleted --1992] Doug!! What a shame... You better pray to God that this young Rotation doesn't suck in 2013... We have the BEST offense in the NL and your going to waste it!! Looks like that offense will have to get us 6-8 runs every game!! Well, I guess when you spend 80-90% of your money on position players, generally refusing to let a young non-elite prospect see the field or trade expensive players away even when it may seem logical, you are going to have to hope the expensive guys you've got can do a good job, as there's no money left over for pitching. I agree that I'd like to see Melvin dig around to find Marcum or some other vet looking to regain value on a one-year deal. I don't think Melvin is shutting the door on all remaining options, but on the surface it looks goofy that Dempster was our all-in guy, and if that didn't work out we were going to spend the money on a couple of so-so relievers and hope for the best. Since I have more faith in Melvin than that, the next move would seem to be a trade of some sort. That either means trading prospects for a guy with 1-2 years of team control remaining, or our trading a vet for prospects. I hope we don't do the former, but as to the latter, recent events could open up the possibility of Melvin trading away Gomez or Hart. The Upton deal shows teams are willing to pay big money for slugging, good defense CFs, so that ups Gomez's value. The Choo trade shows that a player who could be called similar to Hart can bring a Top 10 prospect in trade. The Dempster signing gets Melvin's attention turned away from apparently the only FA he was interested in. We'll see where it goes from here. Yea I don't see Doug doing anything this Off-season. Should be fun battling for last place with the Cubs.
  14. there are still a lot of starting pitchers out there, even established ones. Yeah but he said after Dempster, they were basically done. I know you're not always supposed to believe everything a GM says but in this case, I think I do. I agree... Wow Doug, what a wonderful Off-season plan of doing nothing you have!! BRAVO!! We'll be lucky to finish above the Cubs for last place.
  15. Which actually means, he has another SP in mind... http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/183356521.html Naively getting my hopes up. Don't count on it... Were gonna enter 2013 with the young Rotation.
  16. Doug already stated if we didn't get Dempster, we are done pursuing other FA SPs... Gonna go with the young Rotation I guess... Good luck with that cuz were not the A's!
  17. Exactly!! I can't believe Doug is content on going with 3 young Starters... Such a shame... Good luck winning 70 games this year!
  18. Sounds like when Dempster signs in Boston, we're done going after FA SPs... What a shame!! http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/183356521.html
  19. [language deleted --1992] Doug!! What a shame... You better pray to God that this young Rotation doesn't suck in 2013... We have the BEST offense in the NL and your going to waste it!! Looks like that offense will have to get us 6-8 runs every game!!
  20. There is an Brewers article on JSOnline.com about Marcum... Doug said he's not talking with him and once Dempster signs in Boston, he doesn't plan on pursuing any other FA SPs. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/183356521.html
  21. That is a perfect option!! Shaun would fit beautifully behind Yo as our #2.
  22. Yep Dempster will be a Red Sox before the day is over... Thank god! Now it's time to turn our attention to Edwin Jackson or Shaun Marcum!!
  23. That's just going to make Melvin overpay for Kyle Lohse (at which point I stop rooting for baseball and become a hermit) That won't happen because some team is gonna give him a 3-4 yr deal.
  24. I agree... I want either Shaun or Edwin Jackson slotted behind Yo in the Rotation for 2013.
  25. I have felt this way all along. If the idea truly is to get a veteran, innings eater then Marcum at 2 years $16-$20 million is a much more comfortable situation for me than Dempster at 3 years $36+ million. Sure he has his injury history, but whoever we sign is likely a space holder for 2013 and possible trade bait after 2013 given the development of our young pitching. Count me in on re-signing Marucm if we TRULY have to bring in a veteran to be in this year's rotation. I think Marcum on a short term deal would be great. One year and an option would be perfect. However, the fact that the Crew have basically written off Marcum (at least it seems that way) makes me wonder if they have some serious health concerns about him. He would seem a much safer choice than Dempster, yet neither Marcum or the Brewers have indicated they want a reunion. I'm totally speculating on Marcum's health. It just seems silly not to consider the guy if they feel he's healthy. I agree there has to be something about Shaun's health we don't know about.
