I just can't see the Brewers shopping Braun. Especially when they will lose Fielder one way or another after 2011. But I suppose you can't never say never. I have to admit, I would be pretty disappointed if they dealt Braun, to me he is and has a chance to be the modern day Yount. Mr. Brewer. Hopefully Gammons is just blowing smoke.
Like many, I'm a big fan of Jon Miller and I can't stand Joe Morgan. So Miller will be missed, Morgan not at all. Curious as to who they will get to do Sunday night games now.
Don't like this at all. I love when they brought in the wild card and I thought that made it perfect. But now if you add to it I think it will water it down and the playoffs already last to long.
Granted I have only seen Jeffress during his call up in September with the Brewers, but I thought his curve was pretty darn good. Seemed to break hard and buckle knees. So I have to go ahead and disagree with Grey. But I am not a pro scout either.
I will say this, if Valentine gets the job. I might actually stay tuned to Brewers Live post game. I'm sure the manager presser after each game will be much more entertaining.
My gut says McGehee to 1B and Gamel to 3B. But I'm still not sure on Gamel's defense at 3B. Will be interesting to see where they play come spring. I still think Hart is a possibility to play 1B with Gamel going to RF. I guess whatever the club feels gives them the best defense is what they should go with.
Melvin, Valentine, Cora, Roenicke. I don't care who gets the job. I just want the guy that Doug and Mark feel is best for the job. The guy they think can get the most out of this group of players and lead them back to the postseason. That's the guy I want.
I am all for stealing more bases especially with guys like Weeks, Cain, Escobar, Gomez, Braun and Hart. But I am very much against playing small ball and manufacturing runs. Unless of course late in the game and the situation calls for it.
For those of you curious (and still reading), the cover of the SSH renewal packet features Casey, Rickie and Corey, the 100+ RBI trio Did you mean Ryan instead of Rickie?
Time moves fast doesn't it? Tough to believe that Wallach is 53. It seems like just yesterday he was the hot shot prospect at third for the Expos. In fact, he's older than Harvey Kuenn was when he was hired in 1982. Holy cow that is crazy. I can't believe that Wallach is older now than Kuenn was back in 82'. Nuts.
While Greinke is awesome, more than likely we would only have him for the two years left on his contract. So I am not sure he would be worth trading three god players who we could have for much more than 2 years.
I would say they looked like they were going to the motions this entire season. It seemed to me they lost their swagger that they had in 07', 08' and even most of 09'.
In his Insider column today at ESPN.com Buster Olney said that the Royals do intend to listen to all and any offers for Zach Greinke this offseason. Not sure the Brewers have the pieces to trade for him without destroying their future, but he will be available. It would probably take a pretty big package of big league ready prospects to get him.
