  1. While we probably can't spend quite as much as Seattle, it's not like we are Pittsburgh, Tampa or Florida. Mark is not afraid to spend a little money. As for young talent I would say ours is as good and probably better than the Mariners.
  2. I think Nolan Ryan's face sums up how all Rangers fans and Yankees haters felt watching that meltdown last night. W was also not happy as you can see. http://s3.amazonaws.com/twitpic/photos/large/177970281.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=0ZRYP5X5F6FSMBCCSE82&Expires=1287236983&Signature=SR%2B6yz3iVbD3YXMvYQl0%2FH%2FJLLc%3D
  3. While watching the Sports 32 Roundtable show the other night, Trenni was on the panel and she confirmed that a Brewers player (of course name not mentioned) told her that Macha had lost the clubhouse. No real surprise, but I had never heard anyone say they actually heard that from a player.
  4. If they get Valentine, fine I'm okay with it. But I still think I would prefer a younger "up and coming" type Manager. Cora, Roenicke, Wallach or Martinez would all be fine.
  5. I did laugh rather hard when Andy was about to demonstrate how to put on a condom on using a pencil. And Andy's comment after they made fun of him for it. Jan sure is a nut job, wow.
  6. Only 1 inning for Jeffress? Will all of his outings be only 1?
  7. I'm all for Rogers making the 2011 rotation right out of spring training. If he shows in spring that he is one of the best five guys then he should start. He certainly has the stuff to be one of the Brewers best five, the question is can he keep his mechanics together to keep his walks down. He won't be able to go more than 160 innings so he will have to have some starts skipped more than likely.
  8. I guess I don't despise him like some do. Now Witrado I do despise. I don't even bother reading a thing he writes. I just prefer Adam McCalvy and Jordan Schelling over at Brewers.com.
  9. While I would still prefer a younger guy, I would be okay with Bobby V and even Bob Melvin wouldn't make me mad.
  10. Ladies and gentlemen, Tom Haudricourt! The nicest thing you can say about Tom is "he isn't Anthony Witrado!"
  11. This game has been depressing. I really like the Rays, probably the team I root for after the Brewers. My AL team you could say. Lee is just so good and the Rays just can't hit at all tonight.
  12. I laughed a little during all three episodes so far, but I was expecting more for the last season that Steve Carell was part of the show. I hope they step their games up.
  13. Basically the perfect storm for this team would be a manager with Yost's personality and Macha's in-game management.
  14. Believe me, I haven't forgotten. In fact, every time we see him, I refer to him by his full name. His middle name is not allowed on this forum.Haha, I feel the same way. I actually used his full name last night when I was out with a buddy at a bar watching the Phils/Reds game. We both brought up the grand slam and were sad.
  15. Yup Sage, Cora would be fine with me. Him, Dave Martinez or anyone else that fits my description. Heck, pretty much anybody other than Bob Brenly. He would be my only nightmare hire. Anyone else I am willing to give them a shot.
  16. I think before Gallardo's injury in July, he was on par with the other "ace's" in MLB. But after he came off the DL he was not the same for awhile and got roughed up quite a bit. Then he had a bunch of good starts in a row and then had a bad one in his final start. I think if Gallardo can stay healthy for the entire 2011 season and not miss any starts he will have numbers up there with the current Cy Young candidates.
  17. I'm basically for anyone that is A) Not currently with the Brewers organization B) Young C) Has a great reputation around the league and considered very smart D) Not currently a Manager
  18. I would be in on Cora. Reminds me of my pick of Dave Martinez. A young guy who has been a bench coach for a good team for a few years.
  19. Very happy for Brian Anderson that he got to call that historic game by Halladay. I am glad I got to watch almost the entire thing, got home from work a little after 5 and I was locked in right away. Halladay was sooooooo good. It almost wasn't fair, it was unbelievable and incredible at the same time. It reminded me once again why I think baseball is the best sport. You don't get anything like that from the others.
  20. Oh man, if they hire Brenly, they might as well have kept Macha. Talk about an uninspiring pick for the next Manager. I’m with And That, I couldn’t post enough face palms to show how ridiculous I think this decision is.
  21. How about Rays bench coach Dave Martinez? I always hear good things about him. He is young, been a bench coach for 4 years and has worked under Joe Maddon one of the best managers in the game who is well known for his great handling of players and the clubhouse. I don’t think I have heard anyone mention Martinez. But I think he should get a shot.
  22. I think he did admit late in the season that he was bothered by the elbow after he was hit by Tommy Hanson in May. Once he felt better the power came back and he started hitting better overall.
  23. Fantastic LouisEly, could not have said it better. This would be an ideal situation for the Brewers. It is quite exciting that they actually have good young pitching depth at Nashville for a change. And because of that it is not worth bringing in a bunch of vets for depth. If they can get a legit #2 in a Fielder trade to go with the guys have currently have I think the staff you mentioned above would be good enough to contend with the offense the Brewers have.
  24. I was not a huge Macha fan, but I don't think he did the worst job. I actually think overall his in-game managerial moves were usually well done. My problem with him was he did not seem to be able to get the most out of his players and get anyone to really overachieve. Also his handling of young players specifically Gamel was awful. It also doesn't bode well when your two best players don't get along with you very well. I am not saying the Brewers should go out and get a big rah, rah guy. But someone with a little more personality than Macha might be a good thing for this team.
