  1. There must be some mistake. I had read on the internets that Jenkins only hit home runs in meaningless situations, when the Brewers were ahead or behind by five or six runs.
  2. What is it, 70 pitches for Ohka through three? At this rate it will look like one of those West Virginia games with the piggy-back pitchers...
  3. The people who talk like this are not fans, they may like sports but they just jump on a winning or losing bangwagon. Well, who wouldn't? Seriously, though, it should be clear that everyone here is a Brewer fan...if you disagree with someone, that's fine, but please don't suggest they are less a fan than anyone esle.
  4. I know you don't want to get into this Ralph. I understand every game is equally important when looking at wins and losses but you do have to admit that some games are more important when considering other factors. Some animals are more equal than others.
  5. Hmm, thanks for the information, though I'm still not sure what that means given previous reports that he had signed. But I guess it's not a matter for concern then...was worried there was something sinister going on...
  6. Andruw Jones beat Valverde with a HR his last outing. He is ripe for the taking. I don't see how that follows...it's not like Jones has been a bad hitter this year.
  7. Anyone know why Hereaud is on the suspended list? Or maybe it was restricted...saw it in BA earlier and am away from the mag now.. I wondered why we hadn't seen him in a game yet...
  8. This just in: Kevin Roberts is great. Any chance the nickname "Dread Pirate" Roberts would stick?
  9. A new bf.net contest: pick the day that delaRosa's ERA goes below Wes O's for good. It's a tough one because it requires that JDLR pitches...
  10. The thing about most of the 'Pioneer League mirages' is that they were 21 or 22 year olds with three or four years' experience in big-time college ball...Katin comes from that demographic. If you browsed Salome's stats without knowing who he was, you'd assume he was a guy from Rice or Texas or Nebraska who signed after his senior year in college. Doing that just over a year past your high school graduation is something else entirely.
  11. Owlz is unique There's this thing with z's in Utah sports names...not sure how the Raptors dodged it.
  12. They got Yoho to go with Brandon Jasper and this kid they're signing named Banff. The next step is to move the AAA team to Edmonton or Calgary.
  13. With the All-Star break coming, it was imperative that Ned use the chance to get Wise and Bow some work. Wise hadn't pitched since Wednesday and Bow since Tuesday. You can't just assume that you'll have a chance to use them on Sunday, because there could very well not be a game. Hmmm...that seems plausible but upon looking further I am not sure I buy this argument...that or I wonder about the execution. First of all, if the goal was to get Turnbow some work, why doesn't he start an inning instead of coming in with 2 out? Meanwhile, Wise worked 2 innings on Weds and one on Tuesday, and hasn't really lacked for work at all...why does he start the 9th if getting him some work is the whole point?
  14. What do you think would change if Wynegar were fired?
  15. Here's the part of the story nobody knows. Ned Yost has trouble pronouncing 'Jorge delaRosa.' Whenever he says it over the phone, Castro snickers at him for his terrible accent. Yost, a proud man, thus rarely asks for delaRosa to warm up. And that's the rest of the story.
  16. Well, they haven't been dull. Frustrating at times, but rarely dull.
  17. And Burnett will hit his pitch count somewhere in the 4th or 5th inning...89 with two out in the 4th.
  18. Cruz now with 19 HR between AA and AAA...what was the name of that guy we gave up to get him? Kevin something or other...
  19. Was he supposed to jump into the crowd to get the ball? Derek Jeter would have gone into the crowd, thrown over his shoulder without looking to double a runner off base (even with bases empty), and wound the watch of the pretty lady in the second row. That's because he's a winner and a True Yankee Champion. Count the rings.
  20. Bill Hall batting: Pitch 1: Ball Pitch 2: Ball Pitch 3: Ball Pitch 4: Ball Pitch 5: Ball Pitch 6: Ball Pitch 7: Ball Either gameday is broken, or Hall's plate discipline has taken another major leap forward.
  21. Except that if one team wins, another loses. Sounds simple, right? It's pretty hard to pass six teams because that means half the league is losing...and thus the other half is winning. Unless the schedule lines up perfectly, odds are good that as one of the teams ahead of you fades, another one surges.
  22. outcome not so true and yet we will take the run branyan two for two
  23. Leiter is the name Odd one for a fireman Let him feed the flame
  24. Bunting is too hard! Gnash! Wail! Bat waves weakly south. Back to the dugout.
