  1. Don't you feel like a pitcher basehit is gonna turn the whole series?
  2. I'm going to be petty and say told you CC should've pinch hit. Freddy would've needed to be Harvey Haddix for us to win this one.
  3. The Brewers are gonna get outscored in this series...and still win it.
  4. I could do without the crowing about what a great play that was... Looked pretty tailor-made to me.
  5. It's all just a tightrope. I mean you know you have to keep your opponents to a couple runs to win, and that influences every single pitching decision. On the other hand, you know you have to take advantage of every scoring opportunity, especially one where you can score on an out. I really believe we win this game if we go up 2-0 there. I sort of think psychologically it matters to get a run or two here, even in an L. Just gotta get something to push forward with.
  6. Keeping him in gets you, at best a chance to remain in a 50-50 game after 5. What's the win probability after the next guy in immediately gives up a 3 run bomb? Can't believe there's a single person defending that move. I really can't. The Braves were not into the 5th inning. The 5th. Giving up a three-run bomb is like your opponent drawing to a flush. It's not a very likely outcome. It might happen, but living in fear of it costs you money. The part I find tough is anyone not acknowledging that it's a pretty tough call.
  7. Keeping him in gets you, at best a chance to remain in a 50-50 game after 5. That is the ceiling of that decision. 50-50. PHing increases your win probability bc it makes you more likely to score and the drop from Freddy to Hauser isn't that big. You can keep yourself from going broke by playing defense in poker, but at some point you have to take on downside risk to walk away with profit.
  8. The way this team is built, they need to score something like 8 runs to have a good chance of winning a best-of-five. I always thought you could win two games with 2 runs. The pitching is that good. But you still needed that one game where the offense got 4. Maybe it'll be today. If not, there is a tomorrow. At least there's that.
  9. I mean, if it's Burnes, Freddy can come in instead of Houser. The Brewers whole game plan is get 27 outs and give up less than 2 runs. No matter who's pitching. If that's the philosophy, I pull Burnes too because now he can at least come back and throw 2 innings in Game 5 if you need him. In CC's mind, a hit there makes the game a likely win. Keeping Peralta im, best-case, keeps it 50-50. What happened was the literal worst-case scenario, not the expected outcome.
  10. Yup. Tiny random things don't go your way, and here we are. And Pederson hit a pitcher's pitch. The Brewers offense has missed a lot of...not pitcher's pitches.
  11. It's not random. Our rag tag scrubs can't hit and they have 30+ bomb guys up and down the line. They hit a few bombs and we rejoice when we get a single. Aces are great but can't win with literally 0 runs. I mean, do you want Cain and Wong to be able to throw the ball from home plate? I get being frustrated, and, yes, the offense was bad, but it wasn't like those guys had bad ABs. The offense has been bad this series. It is bad. That is not debatable. But short of having Freeman, Albies, and Trout hitting 8,9,1, what more do you want from that inning? I hate the results, but I have no gripe with the process. Are you saying you would have built this team differently from the jump?
  12. I'd go Lauer then Woody for a couple. It's his side day anyway.
  13. Yeah, this is where the randomness of October gets you. Bad luck on a couple of hard hit balls, and then a guy catches up to a pitch you wouldn't have wanted anywhere else. Baseball is cruel, man. It is very cruel.
  14. Yup. Houser needs a double play here. Couldn't score against Anderson. 12 outs to work with against the pen. Get out of this clean or even down 1, I still feel alright.
  15. That falls into the category of baseball is cruel. What more can Cain and Wong do there? And Vogelbach put a ball in play on a tough pitch. I understand going for the PH. It's a close call, but Bogey is your best shot to score a run.
  16. Great effort from Lorenzo anyway. There's playoff baseball, and then there's playoff baseball where you know first to score could very well win...
  17. I'm looking at the rulebook, and I don't think so: It is not a catch, however, if simultaneously or immediately following his contact with the ball, he collides with a player, or with a wall, or if he falls down, and as a result of such collision or falling, drops the ball. Makes sense.
  18. How long do you have to possess the ball for it to be a catch? Not complaining, just curious (and thinking about the weird NFL rules).
  19. Plate discipline is killer. A few of our Ks really should have been walks, and this Brewers team HAS TO walk.
  20. Yeah, who would've thought Yelich's arm would make a positive impact in this series.
  21. That looked like a cheap hit all the way no matter what to me...
  22. I just Yelich is a guy you hit 7th. Even leading him off and letting him bunt a lot is not a bad idea...given his ground ball rate, he's gonna shifted hard.
  23. Geez...that looked LAUNCHED off the bat. Albies react told me he didn't get it, but man.
