  1. Geez...that looked LAUNCHED off the bat. Albies react told me he didn't get it, but man.
  2. Yeah, that's one of the Crew's better offensive innings. You have to make Anderson throw strikes. Wily did. Yelich needs to be way more patient in his AB. OBP is one big skill right now. And Avi just sold out on a 2-2 fastball and got something not close. My biggest problem with the offense is just approach. Everyone seems to have the same one all the time, which is why Adams is so important and Peterson feels like a breath of fresh air.
  3. Craig can do almost no wrong in my book. He's perfect for this team. But continuing to hit Yelich third is a bad move.
  4. I'm thinking the Brewers scratch early today. Just a feeling.
  5. Thanks. Good luck as well. Been a tight series so far, as expected. I am fully thinking it'll go 5 at this point. Hope all our nerves can take it.
  6. Yeah, I am with you. That play felt wrong. I have been trying to root for the White Sox, but every time they show LaRussa I wince. Plus I like Dusty for some reason. Dilemmas dilemmas.
  7. Ian Anderson has a FIP of 4+. He's fine. Good even. But he's the kind of pitcher you have to score off of in the playoffs because quality goes up. All I'm saying is, out back-end playoff guys are better.
  8. Burnes is clearly our best. But I'll take Peralta, Lauer, and Houser over anyone the Braves have not named Morton or Fried. And that's where we are in this series. You have to win two games where you'll be starting the better pitcher, and by a clear margin. If you can't do it, well, that's baseball. But your offense has to clear a pretty low bar. Play well in one game. Win one game by getting 5 or 6 because the rest of the time 2 or 3 should be enough. I'm not saying they'll do it. Just that this is how it's supposed to go. We're still well on-script in this series.
  9. I guess reality is only one team winds up flipping the switch properly to say they got it right each year. Cards flipped theirs too early I guess? There should be no concern with the pitching based on games 1&2 - bats have to be better, particularly early in the game to actually make a starting pitcher work. Seems like the norm lately has been starters getting into innings 5-6 with basically no stress and very manageable pitch counts because the Brewers' offense is just not putting anything threatening together. Yup. Look, Ian Anderson is a good pitcher, but he's not a guy who should scare anyone. If you can't put up playoff runs against him, you probably don't deserve to stick around. What makes the Brewers dangerous is that they are going to throw three ace pitchers at you all through a short series. They're going to make you win games with 3 runs, 2 runs, etc. The frustrating part about today was the final third. Offense had chances against the pen. You figure your pitching can win you two games in 5. Offense has to get you one. Hope it's Monday
  10. Off day to mull over who will start. I think CC goes Freddy on a short leash just because of his stuff being so good. The Braves struggles vs. lefties is the one thing holding me on Lauer. I said I wanted him on the mound in a 1-1 series. Now, I'm waffling. Trust the team on this one. Offense is going to need to put up at least 3 either way, I think.
  11. ZiPS posted its updated game-by-game projections. It has the series as a true toss-up with a 50.2% series win probability for the Braves. I think their model cares more about home field than I do, but that seems about right. The Crew absolutely could lose, but this is the definition of playoff baseball. You get in tough series, and you have to rebound from losses. The "destined to lose" stuff is fine as an exercise in venting or expectation management or whatever, but I think we'd all be better off if we recognized it as serving an emotional purpose rather than in any way reflecting reality (which is fine, of course--playoff baseball is emotional).
  12. Yeah, I'm just not that frustrated weirdly. I kind of figured on 1-1. The Brewers have to win games when Atlanta is either a) throwing their lesser starters or b) throwing one of their top 2 on short rest. That's it. The offense is going to have to hit Ian Anderson/Ynoa, and Lauer/Freddy have to do their thing to the tune of a quality start. We're back to a toss-up series, but, if you'd asked me before game 1, I'd have had Atlanta as slight favorites. Now, I think the Brewers are. Just getting one at home was that big because the drop from Fried to Anderson is bigger than Woody to Freddy/Lauer. I think CC goes Freddy, and I'm reconsidering my gut-feeling to go Lauer. This is why Peralta is here.
  13. Well, outscored 4-2 in 17 innings and tied 1-1. Everyone knows the offense has to hit. I think they will in Atlanta. This felt destined for at least 4 to me. Braves are a good team.
  14. If it's a 1-1 series, I'm starting Lauer with Peralta behind him.
  15. I think I would face a mutant made from Bob Gibson, Greg Maddux, Jack Morris, and Mariano Rivera than Max Fried right now. Atta way, Wily.
  16. I am trying to remember if the Brewers have had a real comeback win in their playoff years. I know they were down 1-0 early once or twice and came back, but anything more than that? Seems like every game they've won they've played from ahead. Maybe they're due? Edit: maybe Game 1 of the 2011 NLCS?
  17. How far do the Braves push Fried, I wonder? I'd let him pitch forever if it were me, but we'll see where Snitker's at. Gotta keep it close for it to matter much, though.
  18. You can thank COVID for the million extra field ads. I suppose, though I'm of the belief that ads will go wherever they fit. Gotta feed the machine, man. Feed. The. Machine.
  19. Yeah, though I just trust your others pitchers. Two outs and one guy on, maybe, but I'm full boar PHing on anything more scoring-adjacent than that.
  20. It's a graphic. Give it a couple of innings and it will change to something else. Hahaha. Yeah, I meant the concept of laser ads in weird places more than that it was for bourbon...I got nothing against bourbon.
  21. Am I the only one who finds the bourbon ad lasered onto the back of the mound slightly obnoxious?
