  1. White Sox up 4-1 now but probably should jave at least one more. Q with 70+ pitches through 4, so hopefully the Cubs have to burn some relievers. They just had a day off but have no more until the season ends.
  2. I think tiebreakers factor in too. The Crew holds the one over CO. So if the MN is 6 over CO, it is 5 in the sense that a tie would enable us to host a game 163.... I would calculate it at 6, bit if we are just talking about ensuring one "post-season" game at MP, then it is 5.
  3. Everything about the guy has been impressive. I shook my head in wonder when we picked him up, I was wrong... I would say 73 IP of ERA is 100% completely worthless and means nothing. Now I expected Miley to be a 4.50 ERA type talent, he has been a 3.5 to 4 ERA talent so he has definitely been better than expected but his actual ERA means jack and squat. It just shows how useless the stat is for judging pitching. I get it, but he also seems like a guy FIP might underestimate because of all the ground balls and soft contact. I don't trust the 73 innings of 2.5 ERA, but he has been really good.
  4. More wins than last year. This team has really been something. 9 games to go. Just. Keep. Winning.
  5. Rockies up 2-0 early. Not sure who to root for. I want the Dodgers to win the division bit the Rox to stay as close to STL as possible. I guess either outcome is good. If pressed, I think I would say Dodgers. Get the magic number down one more...
  6. Got a break on the pitch up and "away," but made him pay! Pina is so good on D, he would be my choice in a WC game. If he gets hot too, then all the better!
  7. Gennett leads off the 7th. I think I probably stay with Gio for Scooter at least, though if Hader is getting an inning regardles, then I get just letting Gio feel good about 6 scoreless.
  8. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing from DS, but do we have SEE so much of him? Good-looking dude and all, but I'd rather get the full screen experience of a Jesus bomb.
  9. McCalvy just posted the Dbacks' lineup....it is very ugly. So we can count on hanging the L because baseball, right?
  10. Thinking about it, I might have both Miley and Chacin on that one game roster. Probably the two most consistent guys. I am coming around on strating Miley for two then Chacin for two. Then Hader/JJ/Knebel for 5....
  11. Agree about the division. It's just going to be tough. Not impossible, but the Crew probably has to go something like 8-2 to catch the Cubs. I imagine Cain gets the day off tonight. I would go with an OF of Grandy, Yelich, and Santana but can see Braun getting a start too. My lineup guess: Grandy Yelich Aguilar Moose Santana Schoop Kratz Arcia Gio
  12. Braves up 2-0 on the Cards through 4. A Cardinals loss makes tonight a little less pressure-packed for me, so hope ATL can salvage one.
  13. Looking dire tonight. Never over, but looks like we will lose ground on the Cardinals at least. 3.5 out of the division is tough with 10 to go. Bit they will be 2 and 3 up on wild card no matter what. Still in a good spot.
  14. So you figure it will be Schoop, Pina, Santana, Granderson, Yelich, Braun. Hope that group can muster a few.
  15. These are ugly offensive innings. Quick with a lot of Ks and soft contact. Ugh.
  16. Does Cain look hurt to anyone else? Looked like he tweaked his back early yestetday, and his swings tonight look pretty defensive....
  17. I think we will see some more runs tonight, but Chase was bad. Could have been worse, but man. Need to do better in a pennant race
  18. We can end the Cardinals season next week when we sweep them. Ahh, what a great point. And a thought to keep us all warm for a while.
  19. Yeah, that is a tough throw to judge there...and if you are wrong, it is close even w/r/t the run counting.
  20. Logically, you are right. The Dodgers pose a much bigger threat in the playoffs on paper. I just don't like the Cardinals. Too much bad history there. Yeah, and I just think the Dodgers catch the Rockies. Playing any team, at home, in a one-game, single elimination format is going to be basically a coin flip. I can live with losing to the Dodgers. If we lose to the Rockies, that sucks, but it happens. The Cardinals? That would just hurt. I think of it like this: the marginally better one-game odds aren't worth the emotional consequences of seeing the Cardinals celebrate at MP again.
  21. "Seem tos" are seldom accurate. Didnt the Brewers just beat them 4 times in close games? 4 times isn't accurate either. 2 of those 4 games were close. Well, the 11-1 game wasn't close. The 5-1 game was. Not to split hairs, but the Cubs have been scuffling. They got the last two close ones, sure. But they have lost their share lately. More to come I hope.
  22. Rrds wasted sone opportunities. That Cub BP is a total patchwork, though Have to think that STL, Pit, and AZ will have a good chance to beat the Cubs down the stretch. That is 10 of their last 15.
  23. After watching the Pirates beat us with soft contact for about two years now, I would say that bunt double was overdue...
  24. No command for Gio tonight. Meanwhile, Archer has settled in. Lots of pitches, at least.
