  1. I mean, it's one game, so whatever. But some of the decision-making is just inexcusable. There's a strikeout pitcher on the mound who can't throw strikes, and you give him an out. You're playing the outfield in Ft. Lauderdale when a bloop hit ties the game as much as a rocket overall your head. Then you're playing the infield in when a double play is pretty much your only shot. I know you want to cut the run at home, but that's a ground ball to second base with a guy who you can double up. And this is all year long with this stuff. I generally think clubhouse style is underrated and matters a lot more than people think. But you cannot make decisions this bad. You cannot have zero real bullpen or lineup philosophy. I like Murphy, but he sure seems like a career bench coach for a reason.
  2. Worst loss of the year. And spent a lot of bullpen capital too. So long, Mitch White. This one's on Murphy.
  3. Basically got to to IBB and play for the double play now. Though with Chisholm, it's an auto-steal anyway. Might just have to walk the next guy too.
  4. Willy is like 2 for his last 25 and has looked a lot of awful.
  5. Yeah, that bunt was horrible. So many bad decisions and bad moments of execution tonight. Throw in the ridiculous ground rule double, and it's a night to forget. I think I would throw Megill one more.
  6. Make him throw a strike. Come on, guys. Pretty much have to keep Megill in if they score. If not, ride with Blalock, I guess.
  7. Thought the same. I get no doubles, but come on. And then especially after the steal, you've just got to move in. Anything over your head is a run anyway.
  8. Yeah, I think we've seen enough of Mitch White.
  9. Crawford boxes not doing the Brewers any favors.
  10. Yeah, 105 and 399 feet. Sometimes the bar eats you. Always impressed with the fight of this offense.
  11. Well, Rea will have to settle down if we're going to have a shot today. Be nice to win the series, but heading to Miami a little bit fresh is important.
  12. Seems weird that the Astros played the infield in in the first? That offense doesn't seem built to worry about giving up a run in inning number one.
  13. Yup. I'm in western Illinois, and for a while we were on Brewers, Cubs, Sox, Cards, Royals, Twins blackout. Six teams. I believe it's down to four now, but it's really messed up.
  14. Ha! No joke, I was thinking this after your two on with no outs disappointment post.
  15. Sal needed that. And great to see Chourio really hit that one hard.
  16. Miller's versatility does bring some value in this situation, especially with a lot of struggling outfielders. Hopefully it's a short stay for Rhys.
  17. That turned quickly. Hopefully it's not one of those things where Priester now goes out an retires 12 in a row.
  18. I'm in the "let Chourio play and live with the struggles" camp. Obviously, you don't want to destroy his confidence, but I feel like it would be a little hard to do that given that the contract we gave him basically says, "you were worth $80 mil before you even had an MLB AB." There's pressure that comes with that, but the dude just needs to be a regular, everyday major-leaguer for a while. IMO, anyway. He deserves to be here. There's nothing mystical about the MLB compared to Triple A. It's a higher level, but the kid doesn't need magic powers to succeed. Plus, not like there's many better options for that spot in the lineup. I'd go: Turang 2B Contreras DH Yelich LF Adames SS Bauers 1B Ortiz 3B Sanchez C Perkins CF Chourio RF
  19. Pirates tend to play the Brewers tough. I think the Central is going to be like this all year. Lot of 3-4 game win streaks, but no team really clearing daylight. Hoping we can win these next two and take the series. Big difference between a 4-3 and 5-2 homestand.
  20. Good to see Joel limit the damage there. Bednar pitched yesterday and has struggled quite a bit this year, so hopefully there's a big hit left in this lineup tonight.
  21. Super inconsistent. Very bad umpiring tonight. No idea what is and isn't.
  22. Payamps has looked very worrying these last two outings.
  23. Yeah. The second one especially was right there to be driven.
  24. He's fine as a back-of-the-bullpen guy, but Murphy uses him all the time. He's his "down multiple runs in the seventh or later guy," whether "multiple runs" means 2 or 6. I do not understand how Murphy uses the bullpen. It's not even that I disagree, just that I see no overriding philosophy at all, really, and that troubles me. I actually question the guy's understanding of leverage.
