  1. Braves doing what they do to the Cubs. Marlins and DBacks have tough road series. We'll see if the Nats and and Royals can sneak a win or two this weekend. Would be really nice if the Crew could put together a 7-2 stretch over the next week or so. Do that, and I'd think you'd have a cushion of a few games in terms of playoff positioning. Might need that as the schedule toughens up starting with the Dodgers series.
  2. I just came here to say AJ Pierzynski is the worst commentator in all of sports, and I apologize if others beat me to it.
  3. All good. In playoff position right now, win your games. This is my mantra.
  4. I loved all those teams, for many different reasons. 2008 had a September stretch that was utterly gutting, and 2011 and 2018 had very sour endings. 2021 went out with a whimper and a blown save. 2019 was one of the worst losses I can remember as a fan. None of that soured my enjoyment of those teams completely, but 2016 was a different kind of baseball fandom, watching without pressure and just low-key enjoying games. It was like the difference between a dance club and your neighborhood tavern, and there's space for both.
  5. Now that I've been dejected and deflated for 15 minutes, I'm over it. I don't think this team is good enough to win a World Series, but they'll be competitive to the end of the year. Taking us all the way to October is always the best outcome for me. Plus, there's some good young talent on this roster. Whatever happens this offseason, I think it's going to be a period of organizational transition. I'll say this: the most fun I ever had following the Brewers was 2016. They weren't good, but they were enjoyable. If that's the worst-case scenario, I'm good with it.
  6. Nothing to say. Going to need a big homestand against two bad teams.
  7. At some point, the offense is going to have to wins some games for this team. You have to get Ws while resting at least 2 of you best 3 BP pitchers. Hopefully Williams and the rest of the pen can bail them out again today.
  8. So quick you could think about running him back out there (though I wouldn't--hopefully a 5-run frame makes it moot).
  9. Nervous about Peguero here. Hope he bounces back from a rough outing.
  10. Wasted chance. Now more pressure innings. Hopefully that limited Gore's leash a little. The more ABs against this pen, the better.
  11. In my memory, Sabathia pitched a complete game shutout and hit a so home run to provide the only offense in a 1-0 victory like 5 times. I suppose it was probably only once or twice in reality...still. that dude.
  12. If ever there was a time for a shutdown inning, Freddy...
  13. And that'll restore a little order around here. Long way to go, but now Gray is gone. If any team needed a 4-run frame, it was these guys.
  14. I'm telling you, Turang has looked darn good lately.
  15. 3 walks this inning for Gray. Gotta make him pay.
  16. We're a LONG way from that. I completely on both the 2018 and 2019 teams. Both got very hot in pretty unlikely ways (especially 2019). It sucks to be losing to the Nats again. It's also the third inning. If this division ends up historically bad, it's still going to take 82 wins to clinch it (I think it's going to take at least 85). The Reds have 59 wins as I write. The Cubs have 53. Honestly, this division is going to be decided when somebody wins 8 of 10 in September. And any of the three contenders seem equally likely to do that.
  17. If the playoffs started today, we'd be in them. One loss in July means nothing. Still plenty of time to get on a roll. Start tonight.
  18. I think Call went. Check swings are a black box. Elvis going to have to turn into Houdini here.
  19. I get the frustration when the Reds are up like 4 runs every night, but all the Brewers have to do is win during this stretch. Win, and you gain on someone. Playoffs are the goal.
  20. Over these next 13, the biggest thing is just winning our games. There are bunch of series featuring playoff contenders versus playoff contenders (Giants-Dbacks, Reds-Cubs, Phillies-Marlins). Put together a good run here, and we'll have a little cushion when the schedule toughens back up in a couple of weeks, pretty much no matter what. Of course, the Brewers struggled against the likes of the Tigers and A's earlier this year, so who knows? I will say: they're in the right part of their rotation right now. Here's hoping for a 5-2 week at least.
  21. Yeah, I really don't see Turang going down anytime soon. Toro or Jahmai Jones seem the liveliest candidates to be in Nashville before too long.
  22. Pirates taking a flyer on a lottery ticket. Brewers get immediate help, from a surplus position. Sounds like the prerequisites for an in-division trade. We needed a bat, and this is about the lowest price it was going to take to get immediate help.
  23. Don't look now, but the Cubs are playing really good baseball. Still 6 out in the division, but only 4.5 out of that last WC spot. They have the best run differential in the division. Ultimately, I don't that bullpen is good enough to lock down a playoff spot. But it certainly doesn't look like full-on "sell" mode on the north side. Fangraphs has the Brewers at 77% to make the playoffs and about 70% to win the division. Should be favorites, but the Cubs do have the weakest remaining schedule.
  24. Can't be disappointed about that homestand. Hold your own against Atlanta, and then try to feast on the Nats, Rockies, and Pirates. Awesome job by the bullpen again. 10-3 against the Reds is really, really impressive.
  25. Contreras pick up Brice! Let's go, Crew!
