  1. Have to pitch Hader for the 8th. Need him against Freeman and Albies. Hope it's with the Brewers in front.
  2. I'm pretty resigned at this point. Still hopeful, but at peace with us just not making enough plays. If somehow it ends well, I will be fully back on the line for heartache by Thursday night, haha.
  3. Man, 3 innings is A LOT from Josh....there's just no way. I feel him getting 4-5 outs has to be the plan at this point, but beyond that, I think it's Woody, Box, Cousins.
  4. I saw Duvall just take off and thought double-play immediately. I guess you can afford to be aggressive on the base paths when you don't fear the other team's offense. Still, gotta make teams pay for giving away outs.
  5. Best we can manage with a guy struggling to locate is a weak grounder that wasn't quite weak enough. 0 for 19 with RISP. Record is 0 for 22. At this rate, might match that by next inning. Be sharp, Lauer. Morton had to work. That's the glimmer of hope.
  6. Haven't seen any updates, but it's looking like the alternative center fielder discussion might be moot. Cain gonna give it a go? Maybe he's got one of those old man back leg moments in him today.
  7. Nice to have you here, Bravos....interesting having an insider look at the similar lineup situation on your side. Glad to be here. You all are good people. Honestly, I bowed out yesterday after the Joc HR because I know how annoying it can be to having a rival fan posting when things aren't breaking your way. Looking forward to tonight, though! Don't feel good about Charlie starting and I'm weary of Heredia getting 3+ ABs in a playoff game, but here we are. Speaking for myself, it's real easy to get into abstracting other teams and their fanbases. It's nice to be reminded that there's plenty of folks who deserve to be happy if it goes the Braves way. I shouldn't have to be reminded of that, of course, but sports does funny things to your brain. Good luck.
  8. I really dislike all things St. Louis. But listening to Wainwright call this White Sox game is cool. Dude knows pitching, that's for sure, and he communicates it well. Plus, the less I have to deal with AJ, the better.
  9. I think if you made that bet 1000 times, you'd go broke on it....but I also can't fully disagree with you. At some point, I guess I'm thinking all the doubt about the Giants has to run into whatever the heck's happening out there. It sure seems like odd-year magic for once (for them).
  10. Yeah, I think the easiest answer is Taylor in center. At least at first glance. The complicating factor is Atlanta's lefty-heavy pen. Taylor is our best RH bench option, so does it make sense to start Jace w/ Avi in center until the fifth or sixth? The really out of the box option: Start JBJ and PH Peterson when his spot comes up. Then, Taylor enters game in center. Burns two bench options but gives you premium defense for a couple of innings and keeps the platoon advantage for Taylor later in the game, especially since Morton probably doesn't go more than two times through... You're going to feel silly when JBJ has to bat in the first inning!!! Pinch-hit for him before he plays the field! Let's go! Hahaha. Hope you're right! Let's just hope Lauer doesn't come up with the bases loaded, 2 outs, and 3 already in. Wouldn't want another pinch-hit-gate around here. Though, on second thought, I'd definitely take the 3 runs...
  11. Long way to go in Chicago, but it's looking like teams trying to force Game 5 will be 0-2. Hope the Brewers can be the team to do it. Gotta figure something's going five this year. Too many tight games for it not to happen. And, yeah, I know it's all random and independent from anything else, but, you know. Looking for hope in strange places. Actually pulling out my Winnipeg Jets gear on account of they left Atlanta to play again in their true home...

  14. Going with Morton on short rest is really playing old-school. But I guess the idea is the Braves have Fried on full rest either way, so there's that. I'll say this: If the Brewers can find the bats tonight, then having Burnes AND Woody fully rested puts them in pretty darn good shape, especially since ATL will only have one guy backed up by a bullpen that's been shaky without having been made to pay for it. Starting Morton is a "we're scared of Game 5" move. Let's really give them reason to be worried.
  15. Sports are an emotional casino, aren't they? Baseball especially. That wind was pretty wild last night. Dodgers look to be in trouble to me. The Giants have a lot of magic and are playing incredible defense. Every time I turn on the game, someone is making a great play.
  16. If you build your baseball fandom around winning a World Series, you're going to be disappointed the vast majority of the time. Baseball is the most "journey/process" sport there is. Without finding some joy in the Carlos Gomezes playing on sub-70-win teams, without being able to enjoy the best pitching staff in team history even if one of them goes 9-10, there's just very little fun to be had. This isn't me telling anyone else how to follow the Brewers or any team, but, for me, the game is more fun as an exercise in moments, good and bad. Today, we get more moments. I'm glad for that. As for the game, the Braves have been the better team, despite a few mistakes on the bases especially. This is the lowest-scoring division series in nearly 25 years with its 9 total runs. Atlanta has 7 of them. Somehow, we're still alive. I feel good about our chances today. But, whatever happens, it's a long cold winter, and time to savor whatever extra baseball we get. Go Brewers.
  17. Brewers have 11 pitchers on their roster. If they could fill those spots with any 11 pitchers from MLB history, would they score enough to win? I say yes, but only because Bumgarner and Shohei could hit.... Seriously, though, I do like our changes tomorrow. I really think we're gonna end up winning this series while being outscored 9-8. 4-2 tomorrow. 2-0 Thursday.
  18. Sorry. Meant Woody as a relief option. One or two tops. I start Lauer.
  19. I don't think he starts but I think he will be available out of the pen for a couple. Probably no more than 45 or so pitches would be my guess but can help bridge to Hader. I'd throw Woody before Burnes tomorrow. It's his side day anyway.
