  1. good performancem from the brewers today. gorzelanny showing that he's been worth his salary. he's been one of the best and most consistent pitchers on the team. i'm glad that thornburg had a good game. i think that he could be a good reliever. keep him on the big league roster the rest of the year so that he gets experience. k-rod has been a pleasant surprise. i don't think that anyone could have guessed that he would have been this good so far. 2 wins in a row for the brewers. first time in a month that i have felt good about the brewers. a series win would be nice.
  2. Packer season should be fun. Any Badgers fans in the house?
  3. .....turns on the tv....sees brewers are losing again....pounds his head against the wall....turns off tv....
  4. at this point probably. i can't remember the last time attanasio fired a manager in june. at the end of the year i am expecting changes. for some reason thouhg it wouldn't surprise me if RRR is back. i get the feeling that attanasio really likes him.
  5. yes you did. i thought yesterday was looking good for the brewers because we had beaten cloyd. i'm not going to expect anything out of this team until RRR is gone. i just don't know when they will decide to show up.
  6. Those scouting reports make me feel better about our team's picks. Sounds like Neuhaus projects to be very defensively at 3B. The report says that he has a nice swing. He can hit to hit to all fields and is going to get stronger. I trust the Brewers when it comes to developing hitters. Williams having a plus fastball is a good thing. Hopefully they can improve his slider and changeup. The high upside is encouraging. Let's hope their development doesn't get screwed up.
  7. In the Brewers current situation it would be better to roll the dice on the high upside guys. They have more than enough projected #3's, #4's, and #5's. Might as well take a shot on a potential ace. So the high upside college arms are usually gone by 10th pick? After that if you want potential impact talent you invest in HS players? For 1 pitch in college, or were 2 way college players who are fairly raw taken later in the draft.
  8. So why bother taking a college guy? Realistically we can't expect Jungmann to be better than what he is now? Jorge Lopez probably has better potential than Jungmann?
  9. One can assume if he didn't have a little control issues, then he's likely selected in the 1st round? It's the control that slips him down to our pick. HS Pitcher Thank You! I hope it's a fun ride reading his development as the next 4 years progress. I wouldn't call him a nonflamethrower if mid 90s are projectable with his frame. Yes that makes sense. A lot of people were calling for a high school pitcher. This pick should please many. Got a question. Why do many prefer high school pitchers over college pitchers? The college pitcher has had more time to work on his stuff.Because college pitching ranks have already been thinned out by clubs taking HS pitchers 2-3 years earlier. It's kind of like going to a bar after Ryan Gosling leaves with 10 chicks. He might have missed some, but he took who he wanted off the board. So it's like taking 2nd round draftees after all the 1st round draftees have taken?

  11. Yeah I forgot about Braun. I just assumed no one would include him in that group. So besides Braun, Segura, Gomez, and Henderson, everyone else is slacking. I'm not counting Rodriguez either. Management, poor starting pitching, and lack of leadership stand out. Does anyone get the feeling that Prince was the heart and soul of this team? Hell has Fielder leaving contributed to Weeks playing like crap? Weeks certainly hasn't been the same since Fielder left. I think injuries have taken their toll on Rickie, but maybe the Prince leaving has affected him as well. Weren't those 2 good friends?
  12. That's a fair assumption. This organization's track record is not very good when it comes to developing pitchers.
  13. Slider, Changeup, Fastball. Nice arsenal of pitches. Tall and lean frame which is good. Kind of like a Lincecum frame? Nothing like Lincecum. Big kid at 6'3" who will be every bit of 200 by the time he's in the big leagues. He just hasn't added the muscle yet. Also has nice run on his fastball from video. If he keeps that as he gains velocity, his FB could grade out at 65-70 future. How much weight can be realistically expected for rookies to gain as they mature?

  15. They went the high school route this time. Non-flamethrowers with control problems don't excite me. I hope the kid ends up being good. Hopefully the next draft pick has good command. I'm tired of hoping that our minor leaguers fix their control issues. It seems like the Brewers have more than enough guys that can't locate their pitches.
  16. It's been my theory since the Cincinnati series. I'm telling there's just something not right with this team attitude wise. They are not the most talented team out there, but they aren't this bad. According to the standing the Brewers are slightly better than the Marlins. There's no way this team is that bad. I think the players are just as tired of RRR as the fans are. They're pulling a 2011 Red Sox on RRR. He needs to go. Besides Segura, Henderson, and Gomez, everyone is slacking. Sometimes players tank to get a manager fired. It wouldn't surprise if this team started to play well the moment RRR got canned. Talent wise this is a low 80's win team. Right they are playing like a team projected to lose 100 games. No freaking way this team is that bad.
  17. Those scouting reports make me not want to trade for Magill and Lee. If they at best project to be #3's then forget about it. The Brewers have an array of #3's. What this team badly needs is #1's and #2's. The only way to get a #1 is to draft one or trade away an elite player. A combo trade of Hart and Ramirez should be enough to bring a #1 and #2.
  18. lol let's just give doug melvin his own special category You mean Bruce Seid who has been in control of the draft since 2009? I'm thinking in football terms. In football the GM is responsible for the whole draft. It seems like in baseball the GM has a hand in the 1st pick and after that its someone elses responsibility?
  19. How good are Magill and Lee projected to be? What's report on Pederson? Dodgers do seem like the best fit. Eithier is a good hitter but that is one ugly contract.
  20. lol let's just give doug melvin his own special category
  21. nice play by gomez to save a few runs. be careful with brown. he's red hot
  22. This baseball draft stuff is a lot more complex than the NFL draft. There are so many prospects from so many schools to look at. Once drafted we usually don't hear about these rookies for 2 to 3 years unless they are really special. I think that with pitchers it's kind of simple. Like you said, if they can't pitch then they can't pitch. Hitters have many other ways to get to the show. Guys with poor mechanics and control issues should easy to spot right? If so then what the heck was Melvin looking at when he drafted all of these poor control guys?
  23. I'm new to baseball drafts. Throughout draft history, which has a higher bust rate, hitters or pitchers? The Cubs pick was very interesting because they have hitters but no pitchers. Did they took the power hitter because it was less risky?
  24. Actually they do improve your quick twitch muscle movements which is why sprinters are faster, baseball players hit the ball farther and throw it harder, and so on. They wouldn't have been so prevalent in the Olympics if they only affected pure strength. What use do swimmers have for pure strength? I'm not sure how this myth that steroids don't help baseball players first got started, but it's completely untrue. They won't help you hit a ball, but they will help you hit it farther. Just like they wouldn't help a pitcher locate a pitch, but they will help him throw it harder. I think the most likely scenario would be that if Braun is guilty he was taking something to stay healthy. That's a good point, but the talent still has to be there. I could take juice and it will help hit the ball harder, but it won't make a good player. Steroids certainly make a difference. Those triples turn into HR's, doubles into triples, singles into doubles, etc. But you still have to know how to hit in order for steroids to make a difference. Clean Bonds already knew how to hit, Roid Bonds turned those hits into HR's.
